A Visit to the Feed Barn

Posted by F&S

On Wednesday, before Dr. Pia’s wonderful tribute to mothers yesterday, we Frenchies began telling you about our outing with Uncle Carlos.  We first stopped at the veterinarian to pick up some new medications. Thank you so much for all of your concern and please know that both of us are feeling so much better.  After the vet, our next stop was The Feed Barn to pick up some supplies for the canaries and horses.  We just love shopping!  Oh, and by the way, happy Mother’s Day to all!

Oh great! The last stop on our errand run with Uncle Carlos is The Feed Barn! What's not to love about this store?

Francesca, would you look at this selection of rawhide bones! Rawhide is like a toothbrush for dogs, scraping and rubbing our teeth clean.

Betsy asked us to buy horse treats because she's running low. What flavor should we get? Banana? I thought bananas were for monkeys!

No, Franny, not the banana - let's get the peppermint flavored treats and hope they'll improve their horsey breath.

Now for the canaries. Once again, the choices in this store are astounding! Which one to choose?

Fiesta Max looks like a good mix. The Red Factor Canaries are fed lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, but it's important to supplement the rest of their diet with this seed mix containing vital nutrients and antioxidants.

  • Hello Ladies,
You must get a big allowance. That cart looked like it had a lot of goodies in it.
Good for you. We can never have enough toys and treats
Well gang, today is our Special time to pay tribute to our mom's of anyone in our life that is very special
Before I start my own I have to tell you something. I took a nap earlier and I had a dream. It was a nice one. It was about our little buddy, Warrior Prince Basil. He was writing on a big white fluffy cloud. He had a long stick rhat he used to write on the clouds with. It was a letter to his mamma, Lynn
I think he wants me to tell her and you guys what he wrote.
He had written down "to my wonderful wonderful mother and friend Lynn,
i love you for so many things. I love you for keeping me even when I had health issues almost from the start. I love you for taking such good care of me all those years. I love you for comforting me when I felt bad. I love you for so many reasons bur mostly for being you, a good, sweet special person that came into my life and

  • Sorry, my big paws got in the way yet again. Anyway, Basil's last sentence ended by saying that Lynn was a sweet special person that came into his life and made it the best ever. He signed it Love to you always, Your warrior prince Basil
Then he had a PS. It said Glue Squad, I love you all. Happy Mother's Day to all the great mom's on the DW, especially my momma Lynn
then he put the stick down and settled down in a beautiful dog bed
Wasnt that a nice dream? It made me sleepy all over again. I will come back either my own tribute after I take another nap
    love ya,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

YUMMY a cart full of treats I hope that wasn't all for the birds and horses! I hope there were a few bags for dogs and cats :)

So as you know we LOVE my mom so much we wrote her this letter to put with her flowers on Sunday:

    Dear Mom
Thank you for just being you. You are the best mom any of us could have ever wished for. You give us unconditional love and no matter how your day was or what type of trouble you found when you came home you still love us. You always make time to give us kisses and hugs and tell us how much you love us - we have the best mom ever.
Love Zoe, T-Bone, Sophie and Precious

Ok I'm going to sing this song Sunday - oh and I got really cool glasses and a scarf :) Here it goes:

My name is Zoe a cousin of Chloe
    and my mom's da best

She gives me kisses even when I pisses
    cause my mom's da best

I get to sleep in bed people say she's crazy in the head
If you heard me snore you'd be head'n for the door
    cause my mom's da best

So I pass some gas from my cute little ass
And eat TP and run around with glee
    No trouble for me
    cause my mom's da best

    Love Zoe

Happy Mother's Day everyone and Lynn that was a beautiful letter my Prince Warrior wrote you :)

    Have a great weekend!!

    Love Z

  • Hi everyone,
Geez, I took a nap and I thought when I came back on the DW there would be posts. Get up you sleepy heads.
Cora-Belle, what is your pre birthday gift today? Rebel, have fun at Dr. Becky this weekend. All the rest of you, have a great weekend and try to stay healthy and out of trouble.
OK, here is my Mother's Day Tribute to the most important women in my life. That would be Karen, Gerry, Jan, Mammy Jean and Adela.
Mother's Day is just that, a special day to honor you. You should be honored every day of the year for all you do for me. Actually, I do honor you all every day but instead of saying it, I do it in my mind and it stays in there. hehehehehe
I love all of you for who you are. You all take part in making sure I stay healthy, eat right, get excercise, get groomed, get toys (I can always use more toys though ladies). I know you all love me deeply and the feeling is mutual. There are many animals out there that are abandoned, abused, lost, that don't have a mother to celebrate a special day with and I hope that changes for them because then they will know what it means to be truly loved as I am. I love all of you and I to show my appreciation to each of you I am going to share my biscuits with you on this special day. I am going to give each of you three biscuits, which is very generous on my part, but that is me, a loving caring chow chow who appreciates the women in his life.
One more thing ladies, can we talk about getting a raise in the amount of biscuits and treats I get because if I share my biscuits with you, that puts my supply very low for me. heheheheheheh
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO MY SPECIAL LADIES, MARTHA AND ALL THE MOM'S ON THE DAILY WAG.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Frannie's eye still looks not "right". I hope she is on the mend. That cone thingie makes me sad as well as her bad eye! Your dogs are SO CUTE!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Another pet food store you shop at, seems to be a really good one. If you eat all of those treats, you’ll gain some weight. I was trying to think of something to say abut my Mommy for Mother’s Day but could only think of a few things. Who else is there that would see that I have food, water, ice cream when the Ice Cream Truck drives by, brushing, a nice bed, towels to lay on, takes me on rides in the car, makes sure I keep my vet appointments, and gives me a bath? That would be my Mommy; that’s who. She sits by my side during thunderstorms. Well, it may be me who sits by her side but who cares; we’re together. I could go for pages about how good my Mommy is to me. And yes, like Lynn, she sees to it that I take my medicine when I need to. I don’t know about you, but I have the best Mommy in the whole world; whole universe maybe. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good Morning everyone! It's a lovely morning with the sun shinning and glistening rays coming through the tree, just beautiful...hope the weekend will be as nice.

Francesca your eye looks so bad, I do hope it will be OK! As far as treats for horsie breath? I happen to like it...ground up hay and grain ;-)

Maddox what a sweet tribute to your mom and family members, your dream was endearing, and yes, we all miss W.P.Basil...Karen you are such a good friend to Lynn, I know she appreciates all your kindness a great deal.

Karen I'm so sorry for the loss of your Sahara.

Everyone of you Mothers and fur-mothers here on the DW-MS-Glue Squad...have a Grand Day on Sunday. :-)

OK...Finally mommie delia let me use the keyboard, I was laying across her arms while she typed and she seemed to have gotten the hint...I Loooove mommie delia, she is loving, kind and patient with me...I have her trained ;-)

    Love and Hugs,
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Good morning Francesca, Sharkey, GK and all the Glue Squad members,
i hope there will be special things going on at Martha's farm this weekend to show her how much the three of you appreciate her.
Maddox, thank you so much. You are such a unique chow chow. Loving you is easy. I can't wait to eat my biscuits. And as you would say, hehehehehe
Maddox, you know that Mammy Jean is in the hospital cause she fell and hurt her hip and she gets operated on today but I will show her what you wrote when I visit her today I am sure she will want to eat her biscuits when she goes to the recovery room
That was a beautiful dream you had about our little buddy, Warrior Prince Basil. I am sure that what he wrote in your dream is what he would have written in the blog if he were here. I hope Lynn will take comfort in that.
Zoe, I have to tell you, you amaze me. You have yet another talent, Zoe the rapper. That was awesome. Your mom is going to love it.
    Happy Mother's Day
    Love,
    Karen
PS - Maddox, you are the greatest

  • Hello Ladies,
First let me tell you that I am glad you got to get some treats and toys while with Uncle Carlos. I bet you both slept all day yesterday after being out and about on Wednesday. Now today you might be going with G.K. and get to get checked again. I know you will have a very special Mother's Day with Mama Martha. She loves you all so very much, so have a lot of "cc" time.

Next Maddox, I am so happy to hear of your dream. It made me have happy tears. Sometimes I have little day dreams. You see, I have to confess that I can't remove Basil's bed from my studio, and sometimes I see him snuggled there or looking up at me. Dreams are so nice, and I thank you very much for telling me of your's Maddox, as it made my day and many days ahead.

You know how Dr. Pia said yesterday that nurturing is part of being a mother. That is very true, and why my Grandma was my influence. She was the mother to me that most of you all had in your moms. I learned about love, life and fun from her. Others that cover that nurture category are all my Daily Wag friends---furry and otherwise. Although none of us have met face to face, I know you know me and love me----you know, nurture. You are all the best and I thank Martha, Dr. Pia and all the powers that be, for having The Daily Wag. You nurture me and make me smile every day---thank you. Rebel, even though Mimi isn't there in person, I bet she might even call you. Everyone have the best Mother's Day ever.
    Hugs & smiles,
    Lynn

  • I'm so happy you two are feeling better!
My Frenchie (Boomer) said to tell you, "Get well soon!"

  • Hi Girl Friends, &G.K.+Glue Squad, Sure wish I could have been with you girls and Uncle Carlos going to the terrific Feed Barn! You sure got some nice things for your friends at the farm and hope you got some great stuff, also! What will you be doing on Mother's Day?! I'm sure you will have a great time with Mom Martha, Auntie Alexis and special cousins, Jude and Truman! Can't wait to see some photos of that! Gosh Professor Maddox, you continue to be a very special friend to all of us! Thanks for the treats and I will share some with you and others, too! Karen, sure hope Mammy Jean is doing OK-God Bless her, too! Zoe, you certainly are continuing being a very talented young lady-love your song for your Dear Mom! Delia, sure hope you have a great Mother's Day with sunshine and I love you and Sweet Kitty! Kirby, you sure do have a great Mom and I hope she enjoys her Mother's Day with you! Rebel, sure hope you have a great weekend with your wonderful vet again! Cora-Belle, hope you are enjoying this great weather here in our area! I know I am going to have a great Mother's Day with my Mom! I don't know what I would have been like if my Mom hadn't adopted me when I was 11 months old and had no idea how to behave around people! She was so patient with me and gave me the right name so that now I do everything right most of the time! I love her so much and always want to be very close to her! Sure hope all of you great friends have a wonderful Mother's Day and I will check back later to read the rest of your comments! Super love to all, Dudley Do Right and My Mom! XOXOXO+

  • Good Morning Maddox, lynn, Francesca, Rapper Zoe, and all my glue squad friends,
I am so happy the frenchie girls are out and about shopping at the Feed Barn and having fun. It was nice hearing about the dream with our Warrior Prince Basil. Mom thinks about him a lot at work too and his bravery.
I want to thank all of the daily wag pet moms for writing this blog each day. It makes me smile and I love hearing your adventures. I want to thank kind Dr. Diana for saving my life last year when I was supposed to be put to sleep for nothing except lyme disease by my old owners. I was taken care of at the animal hospital by sweet, caring, compassionate women (who I still love to visit daily) and then my mom adopted me! She even slept on the floor next to me for months so I would not be frightened at night. Now I go to petsmart, the park, have my own bed and toys, and lots of cuddles and love in a real home! Not bad for an older adopted dog. Thanks to all of you,and hope you hug all my friends extra for me- Love and barks- Abby the frenchie pug XXX

  • Hi Girls, GK & Glue Squad - It certainly showed that your enjoyed your shopping trip with Uncle Carlos, hope you were able to pick out your treats. What a wonderful tribute to all the Moms today. Maddox, your dream of Warrior Prince Basil brought tears to Mom's eyes. What a special dream that had to have been. My mom is special and I love her very much; sometimes I push her buttons,"borrow a shoe" or check out the "pt" but she always has a hug & kiss for me no matter what. Delia, that was a beautiful tribute to your Mom yesterday, how very special.

Wishing everyone a Happpy Mother's Day especially Lynn, always remember the good times you had with WPB.

    Till next time,
    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Great news to hear the both of you are feeling better. :)

"Hay", I thought horses ate hay? What's with the fancy pants food choices! But, I agree, peppermint would prevent horsie breath! Love it!

Oh dear Frannie with the check book? Let's hope she didn't swipe the charge a plate too! :)

A happy, healthy weekend to all!

  • ..you frenchies are good little shoppers..I cannot behave in a store..I am an ill-mannered old farm/ranch dog...first off, Maddox, I do not think it was a dream..pretty sure that i saw the same cloud writing and Ivy, the wonder dog, Sahara, Quigley and Kit-bang were there with the Warrior Prince and they were happy..Zoe, you the Dog, way to roll!..pre-b.day treats still rolling it..Samantha (Lucindas daughter) sent me a hat to wear..sort of a baseball cap..don't want to hurt her feelers but I think NOT!..that would really get the out door critters going!...Now a tribute to Lucinda..thanks for picking me out of the litter.. I was the one that ran up to you the instant you kneeled down on the ground to look at us..I knew you were the one and for 15 years I have not been wrong, I have protected you and the farm/ranch all these years and now that I am old and blind a bit crippled you stand by my side...24/7..I could not have picked a better person I love you, Lucinda, Happy Mothers Day! love, Cora-Belle

  • Hi all,
My Mammy Jean is in surgery right now. But I am not worried. She will do fine
I must say I am so very proud of the Glue Squad today. We are all writing such nice things about our moms. It makes me feel all warm inside to have such caring friends.
I guess Cora-Belle is busy opening yet another present. I am sure she will post after that. Kirby, you wrote some nice stuff. Rebel will have to write his when he gets back home. That is alright. He is busy helping the vet run her clinic. Oh goodness, I wonder if he will get to assist her with surgeries. Hehehehe
Ok gang, have a great weekend. I will check back at some point to see how everyone is doing
    love,
    Maddox

  • Happy Mother's Day weekend to all of the Moms out there and their lucky furkids as well. I'm glad that you two are feeling well enough to help out stocking up on necessities for the horses and birds but Franny I still worry about your poor eye. How's G.K. doing? Sharkey you seem to be around on your leg very well.

Goodness Abby thank goodness you have such a wonderful Mom and Dr. to save you. Lynn, Karen and Maddox I know that this is a bittersweet weekend for you all so I hope that it is quiet and relaxing. Zoe you need a new stage name - Rapper Z and I want to hear your new rap song-maybe post a video of you doin' your thing!

Everyone have a lovely weekend! :smile

  • Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers of furry, fuzzy non-humans and humans alike! We love our Mother, although being cats we have to keep up a good reputation of looking like we don't care. Our Mother said yes to adopting us after claiming not to be a cat person (although we saw right through that one), when our two previous owners passed away. And when people told her to get rid of us and we were too much work when we were adjusting to our new lives and having a ton of anxiety, she and Dad struggled on, working with us and taking us back and forth to our vet, which happens to be where mom works. Thank you to our vet, Dr. Diana, and all our friends there and to our Grandmom too, who comes over and gives us tons of treats when Mom is not looking. 4 years with Mom now and we are happy and healthy (although overweight) and even she admits now that she's a cat person!!!!! HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY! Sincerly, Nicky and Kris

  • Hi GS Friends, Frannie and Sharkey...
Today's been a busy but nice day here. Love the Feed Store, what a great place to shop. One stop shopping.. my kind of place. We don't have those stores in Chicago.. wish we did. I love my Mommy because she's so perfect. She and Dad adopted me from Paws here in Chicago and I have to admit I came with "luggage" I was a wild and crazy girl in the day time and experienced sizures at night. Mommy was a real trooper, she believed in me and must have known that with her love and devotion I would improve and I have. It's not been easy sometimes but Mommy and my Vet have done wonders. I am so thankful that I have a great home here with my Mommy and Dad. Thanks Gran in OH IO for helping me post this. Happy Mothers Day, to all of you Moms for taking such good care of all of us
    Love
    Lola

  • I have been thinking a lot about moms lately. You see my Real Mom, the one who gave birth to me, went to the Rainbow Bridge recently. I had not seen her for a long time, but it still makes me sad to know that now I will never get the chance to see her again. I get to see my First Mama (2 leggy) every so often when she comes to visit my NowMom or we go to visit her. I love my NowMom, but there will never be anyone like my First Mama, who helped make me the lucky pup I am today. When I became a mom myself, oh my goodness!! How I loved my babies. I think I taught them to be very good pups so that their two leggy Moms and Dads would love them nearly as much as I do. Francesca (I still think of her as Raven, though) certainly turned out very well, as did my other babies who I hear about or even see from time to time. I don't get to see some of my babies-- and I have to say that that makes me very sad occasionally-- but I think that moms always know in their hearts how their children are doing. They know when they are sad, or not feeling good (like poor Raven right now) and they know when they are happy and having a good time, like the many good times my Raven baby reports on this blog. I guess if I never see them again here, I will see them at the Rainbow Bridge. I know my real mom is there, and while I am in no hurry to go, when I do get there I know that my heart will be ...almost... complete once more.

  • Hi Girls,

I'm blogging late cause me and mom were very busy today then the kids came over tonight and i was watching them fish. I had a great day outside. Maddox, what a great dream. I know Basil is watching over all of us and his mommy Lynn.
Zoe, what a great song!!! I loved it but I would have liked to be mentioned a little bit more. LOL since I am your favorite cousin LOL. I didn't write mom a song but I did get her some nice things (abbie helped me) and I have been being really good. I did chew some TP and pulled a few bushes out and got into a few pots on the deck BUT I am not jumping on people or giving abbie a little nip here and there :) and I know mom likes that :)
Well, I would love to chat more but I am really tired and i am going to get ready for bed. Have a busy day tomorrow. Mom is getting live crabs to cook so I need to be well rested so I can help in the kitchen :)
Hope all the moms have a great Mother's Day on Sunday!!!!!

    Chloe xx

  • Hello,
This was the best day ever hearing the wonderful thoughts on all the Moms. Maddox, I am wondering how your Mammy Jean did in her surgery. Know Karen is very busy, but if you have a chance let us know how the surgery went.
    Hugs and smiles,
    Lynn

  • Here I am, 3am, wide awake. Karen had to go to the hospital because Mammy Jean was having problems. She is in the ICU. I guess her blood pressure is very low. They needed to give her blood. But Karen said she looked better when she left than when she first got there so that is a good sign.
I have to say this again. I am so very proud of all of you for writing such wonderful precious things about your moms. You are ao special to me
ok I am going to try to get some sleep
    love,
    maddox

  • ..Maddox how is mammy Jean doing? we wish her well..getting hot today here in S.w.Washington...I'm not a fan of hot weather..so I better help put the screens in windows and look around for another pre-bday gift..hope it isn't another hat!..over and out, Cora-Belle
