Spring is Time For Fly Masks

Posted by Sharkey

Francesca and I were walking past the donkey paddock the other day, when I spotted something a little strange.  Billie didn’t look quite like herself and I wanted to find out what was going on, as I have no qualms about entering the donkey paddock.

Sharkey! Wait up for me! Where are you dashing off to?

Francesca, the donks are out in the paddock and something about Billie looks a bit off! You wait here, like you always do. I'm going in to investigate!

Hi Clive! Hi Rufus! Hi Billie! How are you donks doing today? I just came by because I noticed something funny about Billie and wanted to make sure that she's okay!

Sharkey, it's very sweet of you to be so concerned about me, but I'm merely wearing a fly mask. You've seen me wear this thing before!

Rufus, why aren't you and Clive wearing fly masks like Billie?

Well, Sharkey, Clive and I like to pull each other's masks off. Every time Betsy puts our masks on, we pull them off! It's great fun for us, but Billie doesn't like to play that game.

Well, Rufus, the masks do look strange and I can understand why you think it's so much fun to pull them off. However, I think they serve an important purpose.

You are so right, Sharkey! I'd much rather see through this mesh mask, knowing that my eyes and ears are protected from all of those pesky swarming bugs, which are just so annoying!

Well, thanks for explaining all of this to me. Knowing that your eyes and ears are protected is very comforting. I just wish that Clive and Rufus would learn to keep their masks on. Silly donks!

  • Good morning Sharkey,
That fly mask is pretty neat. Too bad Clive and Rufus don't wear them. Flies can get pretty bad around animals in the warm weather. Do the horses wear them also? Maybe they won't need them today. The weather got colder again.
I guess I will go out on the deck and enjoy the cold air and check back in later today. I hope Basil, or I mean the Warrior Prince, had a good night.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • F & S your right that things were looking not quite Billie herself (actually goofy funny), but I guess for now it helps. I found the fly masks to be very hot in the summer for my horses, I just rolled on a fly off stuff around their eyes and ears.

Clive and Rufus are naughty Donks tearing the masks off, but then they are pretty smart if they figured out they can get them off.

We woke up to 27 degrees this morning...geez this weather is crazy!

Hope sweet Basil is doing OK and got good rest, and for the rest of you who ail with tails and such, have a safe and happy day.

  • Good Morning F & S

Well I have to say Billie sure looks silly. I wouldn't wear one of those things on my head I would think it be uncomfortable. I hate pesky flies they come land on you right after they've visited a turd or something YUK.

Our house guest is still here can't wait till she leaves. She won't let me sit on the sofa with her she doesn't even like to pet me!!! I just sit with mom and give her dirty looks and even tooted a few times next to her. A good old Zoe gas will do her just fine, Friday can't come soon enough.

  • Hey ladies!
How I have missed your visits to the donkeys! That Billy & Clive sure a tricky guys. I can get out or my sweaters! Mimi tried to tighten up the leg holes but I still wiggled out..hee, hee.
Our weather is like Delia & Kitty's. The furnace is back on at our house & Mimi brought her early potted plants back onto the porch. Enjoy the cool air Maddox & Dudley, too.
Since it's sooo chilly, I'm staying home from work today to snuggle in my new bed. I'm thinking about you, Basil, our Warrior Prince (thanks Maddox).
    Til tomorrow.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K.+Glue Squad, Hey sweet Miss Sharkey, you are so kind and brave to check on the donkeys out in their pasture! How nice to see that sweet Billie is smart enough to wear her fly mask to protect herself from those pesky flies that are around on hot days and bite them around their eyes! To bad Clive and Rufus don't wear their masks-sure hope they are safe! Hey sweet Franny, I thought you liked to go out in the pasture, too! Where's handsome GK? Hey handsome Basil, sure hope you have another great day and lots of 'ccs' with lovely Mom Lynn! Cora-Belle, sure hope your tail is feeling better and I'll bet you get a few showers today because it's getting cooler along our coast! Missy Chow, sure hope you don't get stuck in the bathroom ever again-not fun! Little Lola, we are baseball fans, too! We have always loved the NY Yankees and also love the Seattle Mariners in our area! Kitty, it's going to be cooler and rainy here, but not as cold as your area! Hope you and Delia stay warm! Sure hope everyone is safe, happy and well today! Love, Dudley To Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Ladies,
I think Billy looks like he is going to be in the Kentucky Derby or run a race. Clive and Rufus are pretty clever to get their fly masks off. One time my people brother got bit bad by horse flies. Wow are they big bites and really itched. I wouldn't want to get bit by those big flies. I was up and down a lot last night, but told Mom I felt like eating now instead of 11, so I had my first med and am awaiting breakfast. It is cooler here today also---a mere 46. Mom says it is a homemade noodle day. The house always smells so good when chicken is cooking and those noodles are on their way. Zoe, if I was you I would fart up a storm for that weirdo that doesn't like dogs. Make Mom put a sign up on your front door that says, "only dog lovers welcome." Hehehehehe, as Maddox would say. Back to the "cc" day after breakfast. Delia, does Kitty like rain? I hope your tail and Lucinda's mouth are doing better Cora Belle. Maybe the two of you can be on the family plan for pain meds. Hehehehe!!! Have a good day all---I might even get a fire out of the day if it stays cold, Dad said.
    Love & licks,
    Warrior Prince Basil

  • I for one think Billie looks rather smart in her fly mask as it keeps her pest free. Wouldn't you just know that the boys are having fun playing games pulling each other's masks off. I'd love to see a video of that. Sharkey sweetie I don't think it takes much to get you to visit the donks but is was very sweet of you to make sure that Billie is OK.

Cora-Belle, I hope your tail is feeling better. I bet Kirby Bear is beginning to wind his trip down. Good job Zoe giving that goofy houseguest of yours a few toots. I hope they were "extra colorful" if you know what I mean. Imagine sitting next to anyone of the GS gang and not wanting to pet them!

Basil Boy if my anointing you the Warrior Prince has given you some extra powers to run around and play, I most humbly accept your compliment. I think a Basil Boy Coat of Arms would be befitting your Warrior Prince status. What do you think about a silhouette of yourself and the Rocky Mountains to adorn your protective shield hmmm...? Everyone have a lovely day and try to stay warm.

  • Silly donks are right!

What an absolute treat to see a devoted blog to those 3 cuties!

Hey, do they make people masks. Darn flies in NH are a nuisance.

Billie doesn't seem to be bothered with the masks. How funny, Clive and Rufus like to keep Besty on her toes!

That's why they are the donks! :)

Love all of you to pieces!

  • Hi Girls, GK & Glue Squad, Sharkey, you are so considerate to see if they are okay especially Billie with her fly mask; too bad the boys don't wear their masks. They'd rather play with the masks then to wear them, shame on them. It's been a quiet day and enjoying the cool air. Haven't been in too much trouble so far. Zoe, hope you are writing down some stories to tell us next week after your guest leaves. Basil, hope the chicken soup tastes good and that you are feeling good today. Maddox, hope Karen is doing okay. Cora-belle, how's your tail today?? Wishing the G/S a wonderful Wednesday!

    Till next time,

    Missy Chow
    xoxo

  • Please forgive this old boy Karen and Lucinda for switching things around. You would think I was on my pink elephan meds. Been resting alot today. Brother is picking up dinner on the way home for a nice evening. That will be fun.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Yo frenchies, I love those little donks..for years we had mini goats..wish we could get some more..but Lucinda says she is too old to tend to them everyday...really, a person comes to your house and doesn't acknowledge you..good job "tooting" on them..bad person!..Warrior Prince Basil, hope you had a good breakfast..I had pumpkin, egg, special dog food and now thinking about some sort of snack...anxious to hear Kirbys adventures...all you fellow glue-squaders do a lot of interesting things..I love reading your posts..and thanks for asking about my tail..it back to normal..now if the idoit (Lucinda) doesn't shut it in the door again...yikes i hear talk of a ride..gotta go...over and out, CoraBelle p.s. Maddox, how is Karens mouth..healing nicely I hope

  • ..hey Basil, don't worry about it...no apology needed...Lucinda, James and I get stuff confused all the time..sometimes we don't even know each other..HEHEHEHE!..love, CoraBelle
