If you play mom to a dog, cat, pig, parrot, rat, turtle....or if you have nurtured your little human into an animal lover... or if you are simply maternal and caring to our fellow creatures in your daily life... then you deserve a big Mother's Day standing ovation... not to mention, a super fab gift item like the ones in today's galleries!

I, for one, will be forwarding today's blog to friends and family who share my love of animals- both as a reminder that I celebrate them and...as a not-so-subtle way of reminding them that... if they were to get me a Mother's Day gift...hypothetically...or if they felt inclined to assist my own companion animals in the purchase of a gift... any of the above items would make me oh-so-happy... hypothetically, of course.

Here's to all you critter mamas!
In kinship,
Dr. Pia Salk

  • Hello again Dr. Pia,
Nice to "see" you two days in a row. Wow, that is some really nice looking jewelry. As you all know I go back and forth between my mom Karen and I also go to Maryland where Gerry lives. So that means two gifts and that means that they both better come up with more money for my allowance or I will be giving them some of my biscuits for Mom's Day. hehehehehehe
Hey Glue Squad, I was thinking again. Since Dr. Pia mentioned Mother's Day, what would you think if we used the DW blog on the 11th of May to dedicate it to our mom's. I mean, we can comment on whatever Franny, Sharkey or GK post that day but we could also include a paraqgraph of what our mom's mean to us. Wouldn't that be something neat and special to do? OK, let's hear your thoughts on that.
    Have a great weekend.
    Love to all and PWB,
    Maddox

  • FETCH! You know Dr Pia, it's just no my thing..But, I sure would like to get something for Mimi for Mothers Day. We're such great pals now. I wasn't so friendly when I came to live with Papa & Mimi. I thing I was scared or something. I think with Papa's help I could fetch something...lol
Hey, I don't remember who said it yesterday, but, Mimi & tried to tell Papa that I was sleepwalking & thought I was outside, he smiled & said "sleepwalking, hmmm".
Lynn, are with us today? Sure hope so, I'll check in later.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • awww, that dog pendant is so funny!!! How cute! the perfect gift for a doggy mama!!

    love K

  • Hey, where is everyobdy????
Geez Rebel, the rest of the Glue Squaqd must be sleeping in today. I will check in later. By the way Rebel, I was the one to tell Papa you were sleepwalking. If you ever do something like that again, get on the DW right away so we came come up with some other excuse. You can't keep using the same one or the humans get wise to you. hehehehehe
So, Chloe is going to graduate from Boot Camp today, right? CONGRATULATIONS Chloe. We knew you could do it. Cora-Belle, what do you have planned for the weekend? Hey Zoe, did you see how Chloe threw you under the bus when she told everyone on the blog that you misbehave too? I know you will come up with something very clever to remedy that situation. Naaa, she is your cousin and she is young. She will learn.
Lynn, I hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.
    Maddox

  • Dr. Pia I love all the bling :)

I'm going to get my mom something really special for Mother's Day.

Maddox I think that is a great idea we could all post about our human mom's :)

So today Chloe gets sprung from jail. I sure hope she behaves or she'll end up back there in no time, poor pup.

Looks like rain here today so that means lots of naps for me.

Have a great weekend everyone. Basil I miss you :(

    Zoe

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
How good to have Dr. Pia again today. You are showing some “neat” stuff today. I can remember playing “fetch” with my Mommy. I say remember because I don’t do that any more. I mean, what’s the point. You throw the ball away and I bring it back to you and then you throw it away again. After a few times of that and I get the point; you don’t want the ball so I just leave it there. Now when I play with Daddy, he throws the ball and then tries to get it before I can get it. He hasn’t beat me to the ball yet but I’m beginning to slow down a little; old age I guess. What I mean is that Daddy is slowing down and I don’t have to run as fast. Hehehehehe.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello again Dr.Pia!
what great creations here....I love the kitty bracelet/collar...all of the things shown are so creative! will have to check out the sites.

    Chloe congrats, way to go!
I also miss Basil <3 Lynn I do hope you are OK!

Have to run this morning...take care and be safe everyone!
    delia & Kitty =^. .^= :-)

  • Hi Dr. Pia & All of Our Great Friends, I was so surprised that F,S,&GK didn't post their blog today, but I'm sure they are spending their time taking care of our wonderful Francesca that I am still worried about! My prayers are with everyone forever! Dr. Pia, it was so nice of you to show us great gifts to give all of the Mothers of wonderful doggies, kitties, and all other animals-they certainly deserve it! Love all of the comments from our good buddies and Professor Maddox, I absolutely agree with your newest idea to honor all of our outstanding Mothers on Mother's Day! Sure hope everyone has a happy, safe weekend, especially our wonderful friend Lynn! Will check back later to see other comments! Love, Dudley Do Right & Mom Jan XOXOXO+

  • Good Morning All,
Oh my Dogness is right!! I am going to make me a necklace with lots of the fun bling and call it my memory necklace--a tribute to Basil. As I was trying to watch t.v. last night, I was under the "cc" blanket used with my boy and reflecting on what a wonderful group of friends The Daily Wag has brought to me and of course the Warrior Prince. When Basil got the courage to join in The Daily Wag years back, who would have ever thought such a bond would come to be. You are all incredible and a very marvelous bunch, and I am so lucky to have you in my life. Last night I thought my mojo was starting to return a bit, and you know what????? I have a bit of a different mojo now, one might say it has a tinge of Warrior to it. Imagine that!!! I will allow the tears, but know that I am trying to be stronger every day as a special tribute to the Warrior. We talked, he and I in these last weeks and it was very important to him that I "stick" with the Glue Squad. He felt he had an in, and that I would be forever welcome. You are all a very important part of my day and I look forward to continuing to hear of everyone's life. One thing we had talked about and never did, was get a map and put a push pin with whoever's name and place it in their state and put it on the wall. When you all post next can you remind me of what state you live in and I will make the map? I give thanks again to all of you for your love and support for me and my family, and what a tribut your love is to my Warrior Prince. You have been so busy all of you taking care of me, I fear I do not know your latest, so get me caught up. Love to you all.
    Hugs,
    Lynn

  • Hugs to you too Lynn, Dr.Pia, Francesca, Sharkey and all our glue squad buddies,
Yes we glue squad members stick together and welcome you Lynn forever as the Warrior Prince's mom. We live in New York state in the Hudson River valley.
Maddox, what a great idea to honor our moms on May 11th. Since I am a rescue dog late in life it would be especially meaningful to say some nice words about her. Rebel hope you are not sleepwalking anymore. CONGRATS to Chloe on her graduation. Zoe are you planning a Cinco de Mayo party yet?? Corabelle our Wonder Woman dog I hope you have a wonderful weekend barking at critters. I think all of us including Dudley, Doc Kirby, Maxx and Sharkey should all bark at some critters in honor of our brave friend Prince Basil.
We wish all of you humans and glue squad friends a safe and fun weekend. Napping before petsmart and the park!! Love, Abby the frenchie pug

  • ...cool mom day ideas...they better raise my allowance, too, or Lucinda will get a dog crunchie... great idea Prof. Maddox about a tribute to our moms on mothers day...Lynn, I live in southwest washington by the mouth of the Columbia river..In honor of Basil. I actually nipped the old coon that comes thur the yard oh her tail..she jumped a foot..it was funny..I think she is my pal, but Lucinda reminded me..I am blind and not as agile as I once was to be careful with this raccoon sport..she is a party pooper!..not doing anything the rest of the day..just resting ..it is cold and gray out..perfect day for snoozing on the couch..Congradulations Chloe..I have no manners..just an old rough and tumble farm dog..oh, did I tell you we have baby feral kitties..I sniffed them out..under a big tub next to one of the out buildings...they are wiggly little guys...I donated my stupid cashmere homemade vest to them..hopefully Lucinda won't make me another one of those dumb things next year..store-bought would be nice! or better yet au natural!..Everybody have a great week-en..Glue-Squad forever!!!Cora-Belle

  • Hey gang,
Where is Cora-Belle today? She must be taking a beauty nap. Lynn, can you split a push pin in half because I live in two states. I live with Karen in Pennsylvania and I live with the Roberts in Maryland.
I am so glad that you guys like the idea of the Mother's Day tribute to our moms on May 11th. Maybe Franny, Sharkey and GK could post pictures of themselves with Martha for that blog and they could each say a little something special about how they feel about her. That would be awesome.
Speaking of those three, Francesca, how is your eye? Does it feel any better since you changed your medication? I hope so and I hope you don't have to wear that collar too long.
OK, I am going out and work on my tan. hehehehehe
    Maddox

  • Wow... CUTE CUTE CUTE! I haven't been keeping up with the blog lately... Well, maybe for a few months.... LOL
    Heartfelt love from:
    LC

  • Hi Dr. Pia,
I"m home!!!!! It's Saturday but I had to get on my computer and do some blogging.
Mom even got a new computer while I was gone. I am going to get mom something really special for Mother's Day.
It was so nice waking up in my own bed. I have to say I sure did miss my family. I had everyone coming to see my last night :) And as good as I was my first day home, (Zoe, you would be proud) I got hold of the TP and ran in the yard. Mom didn't even do anything. :) She is just so happy I am home.
There are so many new smells out in the yard. I heard mom say baby bunnies were born in the garden and the geese all had babies while I was away. You know I am going to be very busy over the weekend hunting for them :)

Well, off to spend family time with everyone. I will talk to all of you on Monday.
    Have a great weekend everyone.

    Chloe xx

  • To the Daily Wag, Readers, Writers, and Supporters,

As this very difficult week of Basil's passing comes to a close, I find myself looking for ways to help myself heal and move forward. One of the things I am doing is dedicating my week to appreciating and thanking everyone involved throughout Basil's life and given us love and support. So the first and most important area of appreciation is THE DAILY WAG. Thank you to Martha, Francesca, Sharkey, G.K. Dr. Pia and the entire support staff for creating and continuing THE DAILY WAG. Individuals I have never seen face to face care and love more than many ever. I wish to thank you all so much, so I am ending the week with this giant thank you and will start tomorrow with smiles & hugs from Lynn.
    Thank you to:

Abby & Tracy-your donation to the animal shelter in his memory is above & beyond and sunflowers are my favorite.
