Exploring Newport's Cliff Walk
Posted by F&S
On yesterday’s blog, we told you about arriving in Newport and exploring some of the grand old homes along Bellevue Avenue. After that little tour, we found an entrance to the very famous Newport attraction called Cliff Walk and G.K. was so anxious to walk along its trail.
1 Come on, Francesca and G.K.! We've already driven along the scenic ten miles of Ocean Drive. Perhaps we should get out, stretch our legs, and enjoy some nice fresh air!
2 Girls! Let's explore Cliff Walk! There are so many interesting smells already, and we're just at the beginning of the path!
3 Right on, G.K.! What a great idea! Cliff Walk is one of Newport's most popular attractions and I can already see why.
4 I can too, Sharkey! Francesca, look at the beautiful view of the ocean! I can taste the salty air on my tongue and feel the misty spray on my fur from here!
5 Not only does this walk take you along the gorgeous coast line, you also get to see some amazing and stately homes.
6 Yes, girls, Cliff Walk is certainly breathtaking and is so worth seeing.
7 The Cliff Walk is three-and-a-half miles long and is great for fresh air and exercise! It's in a National Historic District, so you can sightsee along the way!
8 G.K.! Better be careful what you sniff and put your face near along this walk! Francesca spotted some poison ivy!
9 Right, Sharkey! I saw it over here. Poison ivy thrives in sandy beach environments and this ocean side cliff is no exception!
10 Thanks, girls, but I think you two are more at risk than I! Dogs get poison ivy the same way humans do, when the oil from the plant touches the skin. My thick fur coat will protect me.
11 You're right, G.K.! Francesca and I are definitely more susceptible to poison ivy than you, so let's be on our way. A nasty case of poison ivy would be a terrible way to start the summer season.
