Changes to our Stone Wall
Posted by F&S
You may know that sitting on the stone wall overlooking the farm is one of our favorite vantage points. The view is great and it’s fun watching the world go by. We, Frenchies, were out there basking the other day when we discovered that our stone wall was getting a beautification treatment.
Ah, how I love basking in the sun on a beautiful day!
Yes, Sharkey. Even with my cone on, I still can enjoy the sun! This stone wall is one of my favorite places to sit.
Hey, there's something new about the stone wall! There are all sorts of tiny succulents growing out of it!
Look, Francesca, here's a whole tray of tiny succulents!
Hey Ryan! Are you planting all of these succulents in the stone wall? Show us how to do it so we can help you!
Sharkey, first Ryan divides the plants from the tray into small sections.
Ryan, this is a sedum, right? Sedum, like other succulents, retain water in their leaves and can thrive in dry climates. They need little soil and water to survive, which makes them excellent for planting in a stone wall like this!
Sharkey, Ryan then finds an appropriate sized gap between stones to put the plant in.
Oh I get it, Ryan! You use the plant marker to help tuck the roots into the crevices.
Thanks Ryan! We'd love to help you work the wall, but our, um, short stature makes us of limited use to you! So maybe you better finish it on your own?
We're not trying to get out of helping you! When you're done with the wall, Francesca and I can help you finish planting the rest of these succulents along the stone walkways!
Thanks Ryan, we always learn so much from you. Oh, and thanks for getting that scratch behind my ear for me! This darn cone makes scratching quite difficult, which is the point of wearing it, I suppose.
