A new campaign to highlight the special bond between animals and their humans is asking people to submit videos of their pets greeting them at the door. Witnessing such pure loyalty might just encourage people to adopt a 'welcome home cheering squad' of their very own!

Submissions will be viewable online and some lucky 'videographers' will have their submissions chosen and edited into an educational Public Service Announcement about pet adoption. Their happy tale will then be part of a life-saving message broadcast on Television and over the Internet.

To access details and information do so from a desktop or laptop computer and go to: www.BestWelcomeHomeEver.com. Those logging in through a cell phone or other mobile device will be re-directed to do so from a computer.

The Best Welcome Home Ever (www.bestwelcomehomeever.com) campaign is sure to be a huge hit and it's creators want you to be a part of it! Just shoot a video of your pets welcoming you home, submit it and spread the word through Facebook, Twitter, etc.!

Help encourage everyone to adopt a welcoming committee of their own!

In kinship,
Dr. Pia Salk

P.S. I'll never forget the very unique welcome home dance that my dear Pickles would perform in my honor- one of my most treasured memories for sure!

  • Good morning Dr. Pia,
This was a very nice blog today. It is all about love. I think I especially like photo # 4. Could that be our own Dudley Do Right?
Gail, I was wondering, I know, here we go again with the sondering. But, I was wondering, since you are such a big donk fan, when they have the donks on the blog, do you go back and look at the pictures all day long? hehehehehehe
Where are you Kirby Bear? We are waiting on an update on your travels. Cora-Belle, I hope your tail is better. Karen gets her stitches out next week. She tried to chew gum, why I don't know. Now her mouth hurts again but she said it serves her right for being so dumb. So whatewver you do Cora-Belle, do not chew gum or your tail will hurt worse.
Basil, did you have a good night? I hope so little buddy. Zoe, can you give us an update on Chloe?
I am going to watch Animal Planet. See you guys later.
    Love,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning Dr. Pia

We all go crazy when mom comes home from work. Dad said Sophie knows as soon as she drives down our street and she is barking and standing in the window when mom pulls in the driveway. Me on the other hand I run like a bat out of hell in circles around the family room. It's like our own welcome home ceremony. I'll have to see if mom can hook up something so dad can video.

So Glue Squad no news the past few days on Choloe however her mom told us that she is doing well. I'm still trying to figure a way to rescue her - can you believe she was not home for Easter!!!

Our house guest is a real jerk I can't wait till she leaves. Mom and dad took her to dinner last night she came home and went in her bedroom never said goodnight, thank you for dinner nadda - total brat. I'm hoping today she leaves her bedroom door open because I intend on doing some serious damage. I have a plan with Sophie to check out a few of her shoes ;)

Basil hope you are doing well :)

  • Hi Dr.Pia!
ohhh how I miss that about my little Maltese, she would wait for hubby on the top of the stairs an hour before he came home...as far as Kitty, she is a typical cat and will ignore you at first for leaving and then come and PUURRRR her way into your heart. Even my horses use to greet me, calling, running around, bucking, just being happy I was there.

I enjoyed the photos, so cute of DDR, Pickles, Minnow, Guppy and the rest. :-)

Has anyone seen on TV the Welcome Home videos of dogs greeting coming home soldiers? It is so heartwarming.

End of the week is coming up fast..I Hope and Pray that everyone will have a Healthy, Safe and Happy weekend.

  • Hi Dr. Pia,
Lots of rain and storming during the night, so I didn't get much rest. But am glad I checked out the blog, cause Dudley you look very fine on #4. Everyone is so happy in the photos---good ones, Dr. Pia. Zoe, as for the dumb butt house guest. Where the heck did Mom and Dad come up with this person? She can't be a relative or she would love you and the gang. Remember, have Dad put up a sign on the front door right before she leaves, saying, "only dog lovers allowed." Then she won't come back. Believe me if I got treated to a dinner out and good company, I would be head over heals thanking them. Karen, please, I have to mind Mom on stuff related to health, so you mind Maddox. Delia, you never told me, does Kitty like water? We must be going to hear from Kirby soon. Well everyone, back to nap for me. Dudley, Zoe, Maddox, Rebel, Kitty, Abby, Lola,Missy Chow, Chloe, Kirby and the rest of the gang, have a great day.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Dr. Pia!
Wow, It was great to see our Dudley Do Right!
Iam always happy to see Papa & Mimi when they come home. I don't do helicopters or anything fancy, I just stand up straight, smile & wag my tail as fast as I can! I really go nuts when Mimi picks me up from the kennel. I yip, yip, yip & wiggle & give her lots of kisses.
I bet Chloe will be that happy to be home from boot camp. Zoe, play nice! heh, heh, heh....
    Hi, Basil buddy.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi Dr. Pia, Thank you so much for another delightful blog post! All of these photos are darling and I thank you so much for including my sweet, little Dudley Do Right, your beautiful Minnow and delightful Pickles! You just made my day start so happy! My DDR NEVER likes to be left alone in the house and since I'm retired, I'm almost always with him and if he's ever left alone he gets extremely depressed. The first time that ever happened, it took him several days to get happy again. When he was a baby, he was left in a backyard with a kitty until I finally adopted him at 11 months old. He is a very sensitive little guy. One of his favorite things to do is go places in my truck and he does well staying in it till we return and then he gets so happy because I always take him for a nice walk! Thank you Glue Squaders for your wonderful comments about my sweet, little Dudley! Sure hope all of you have a great day and Dr. Pia, can't wait to see your next blog! Absolutely love all of you connected to The Daily Wag! Jan &DDR

  • Hi Dr. Pia, and all the glue squad buddies!
Really nice happy photos of the dogs and cats welcoming home their human loved ones. I think Dudley you are so handsome!! I am spoiled and with rare exceptions go along with Mom in the car everywhere. I even get to go with her to work every day to visit all my friends at the animal hospital. I love my belly being rubbed by my buddies and bark at the other dogs.
G.K. where are you? Here was Brave Sharkey visiting the donks and spectator Frannie with no G.K. Zoe remember the end is near to your visitor's stay. Can't imagine anyone not petting and giving you TLC.
Hope Kris, Nicky, and Kitty are all having nice warm weather. Rebel we hope you get some good zzz's in the new bed. Cora Belle so glad your tail feels better. My white cat buddy Herman is turning ten on Saturday so might get to petsmart tomorrow.Hurray!
Warrior Prince Basil we love you.

  • Thanks Dr. Pia for the great pictures. I think my Gran is as excited to see me as I am to see her! Mr DDR, you are so cute in photo #4. Dang it Kirby where are you?
Zoe be careful planning Chloe's escape, you don't want to end up at Boot Camp too. Basil, sounds like you are having a good morning. Here in my neighborhood it is sunny out but cool. Good day to sit by a window and catch the sun rays while I nap. Love and Peace Little Lola.

  • Dr. Pia, thank you for the wonderful photos..Dudley you are a super star!..I did everything with my big dog sister, Ivy, the wonder dog, (border collie)..when she died i went into a horrible funk..so I never get left alone either James or Lucinda is with me 24 hrs. day..what a lucky dog i am..but I always get excited to see whichever one leaves for a bit...I am old and goofy..In our younger days.. Ivy and I would dance and jump and spin around when James and LUcinda came home..I miss my big sister...you little doggies make me laugh when you wiggle over with excitement..my pals, the cheweenies go really nuts..and my English bulldog pal just kinda waddles a little faster and does a MINI jump...all you glue squad buddies have a good day..talk to you tomarrow..CoraBelle P.S. Happy birthday to Herman the cat, I like kitties and Zoe what a ungrateful house guest..relative or not..shame on her for ignoring one of her hosts...

  • Hi Dr Pia, Thanks for all the pictures today, DDR you are so cute. I get so excited to see Mom when she comes home from work every day that I don't know my own strength
I almost knocked her over last week. I can't let that happen, she would NOT be happy. Cora-bell, glad your tail feels much better. Zoe, have you started countdown for your houseguest? Basil, hope you are okay today, and got some rest after the rain stopped. It's been a long day of keeping Dad on his toes........hehehe..... so.... tomorrow is another day.

    Till next time,

  • People don't realize how wonderful it is to have their four footed friends greet them at the door. Last year in August my fiance, Bonnie, and I adopted a French Bulldog named Haiyuu. He was given to us by his owner who said he was not the right dog for her. The truth be known he had been mistreated and had become untrusting and afraid of humans. That rapidly changed when he came to us. He became a cherished and loved member of our big disfunctional family. Last October our farmhouse burnt to the ground. Haiyuu and his brother, the Cocker Spaniel Fish, made things much easier by providing love and caring. Three weeks ago today I nearly lost my beloved Haiyuu. unbeknown to us the treatment Haiyuu had been given before caused massive damage to his spine. He went from walking into our vet's office to total paralisis while we were there. We rushed him to The University Of Tennessee where they operated on him to save his life. Seven hours later he left the operating room. Haiyuu still can not walk. He was given a 50/50 chance of ever walking again. I would cry if he rushed to greet me at the door or walked over and sat outside the bath waiting for me to complete my shower. Be grateful for each and every moment you have with your treasured pets. Most importantly PLEASE DON'T EVER MISTREAT THEM!!!

  • Hi Dr. Pia!
Photo #7 is absolutely precious. I love that little puppy grin.
I have a question - what do you do when your dog is happy to see you and welcome you home, but doesn't fit in with your other pets? I have one dog right now and am thinking of adopting another, but it's something that I worry about. I'm reading a book right now called "Just Bill" where the main character, Bill (a collie) is adopted, but doesn't quite fit in with the other pets. How do you go about that?
