Everyone is talking about what a mild winter it’s been and how there hasn’t been any snow except for that October snowstorm that caused so many problems. Well, truth be told, I rather like the snow and I have the perfect coat for going out in it!
2 Do you remember last year and how great it was? Do you remember how much it snowed? How I loved running in that deep beautiful snow! This year has been rather disappointing!
3 Chow chows have very thick fur coats, so we don't mind the cold weather. The fur around our necks is especially thick. No wonder the Chinese call us Songshi Quan, which literally means 'puffy lion dog!'
4 So how about it, girls? Up for a nice run in the snow? We don't know how long it's going to last, so might as well take advantage of it!
7 Oh, G.K., you may have a luxurious thick coat, but we, Frenchies, are not so fortunate! We are of a short-haired breed.
8 That's why we rely on our coats from Martha Stewart Pets in the winter. Other small and shorthaired dogs simply don't have the fur or body weight to keep them warm.

GK, you got snow? Lucky you. It was close to 50 degrees here. No snow. Karen said if it snows she will make a snow dog for me. Good luck with that, trying to make a snow dog that looks as handsome as I do? hehehehehehe
I am glad that you are better Cora-Belle, very glad indeed. And Kirby Bear, it was good to hear your vet visit was just the routine kind. Zoe, when are you coming back to us? I hope your mom is getting better. Dudley, Rebel you guys seem to be as healthy as one of Martha's big horses. But, that is a very good thing. Basil, you are doing well in the recovery process.
Well, I am going to go back to bed and dream about snow. GK, maybe you can send me some in the mail. But, if there is going to be a snow dog being made with it, you better send me a big 55 gallon drum of it cause if Karen is going to get it perfect like me, she will need to practice, practice, practice.
hehehehehehe
Love to all,
Maddox

Hey G.K.,
We a just a dusting of snow last night. Not enough to bother me or satisfy you. Mimi says they had a sheltie named Rocky (he was a blue merle with blue/brown marbles for eyes). Rockly loved the snow. Mimi would tie him outside, he'd play awhile then fall asleep in the snow. One day Mimi couldn't find him, she knew he was tied, so she called his name and this mound of snow moved, it was Rocky LOL. I bet Kirby and Maddow could do that, too! Not so much for the frenchies, Kitty & me. Have a good day everybody. How 'bout Cora Belle in her younger days?
Your Pal,
Rebel

Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Snow; you are one lucky dog GK. I haven’t seen the first snowflake all winter long. I’m like Maddox, I love the snow and miss it very much. I’ll bet you can’t guess what’s going on now? In Alaska the dogs are running again in the Iditarod. Now those dogs have some snow to play in. It’s hard to believe that those dogs will run from Anchorage to Nome. I’ve always wanted to be in that race. I’m too old for that now but I’ll bet that some of the “big dogs” of the DW could make a good team. We would have to have a leader and I think I would fit that position just fine. Hehehehehe
Catch you later, Kirby.

Well we just had back to back snow about 4"-6" of it, just hope this will be the end, even though we hardly had any this season...it's warmer and days are longer so will melt fast.
(Forgive me if I mentioned this before)when I was a little girl in Germany and the GI's were going home after the war, one of the GI's left a Chow with us, this GI told us that in China the fur of a Chow was used for making coats and the meat eaten....
how BARBARIC! hope they don't have that tradition any more!
G.K. I did not know there were smooth coated Chows...You are lucky to have such a wonderful coat and can see why you like the cold and snow.
F & S have a nice sleepy day, enjoy the sun if it's there.
Got to run >>>>>>>>!

Hi Girls and GK,
I am sooooooo jealous GK!!! I want snow soooo bad and it has been warm here in NJ. The snow we did get earlier in the season was great. I had such a good time playing in it:) Now I just dig and get muddy and mom gets mad. LOL. I saw a picture of Zoe this weekend and she was very busy with her mom. She was laying in bed right next to her taking care of her. She should be back any day now. I know Aunt Ann has been busy too at work.
Well, off for some R & R. I had a work out this morning chasing Abbie around the house while she was getting ready for school.
Hope everyone has a great day
Chloe xx

Isn't this a hoot? Here in Chicago snow has been practically non-existent and the end of February was very mild. Now that it's the first week of March the temps have been cold and there were flurries last night. Go figure. Franny I love that little bed with the blankie. Is that part of the MS Pet Collection as well?
I've been so busy getting ready for SXSW that I've been remiss in get well wishes. Zoe, I hope your Mom is feeling much better today. I bet you snuggled her all weekend. Cora-Belle, Sweetie I hope you're feeling better now. Thank goodness that James and Lucinda are right by your side. Basil Boy sounds like you're beginning to adjust to your new 'doggie loft space.' Kirby Bear, I'm glad your Vet check up went well.
Did I catch everyone? Have a great day!

Okay Mr. 'puffy lion dog', you want snow? I'll send you snow!
Last Thursday about 10 inches fell here in New Hampshire.
Just think of all the sno-cones you and the girls can make.
I'm with Sharkey and Franny Girl; staying cozy inside is the only way to be on a snow day!
Hugs to you!
gail

wow, G.K., you look so handsome in the snow..Yes, Kirby in our younger days we could have taken those Alaska dogs on..and of course you would be the lead dog..I have a lot of respect for those Alaska doggies...endurance is their middle name...without sled dogs many alaskans would have died...my best dog pal in the world, Ivy the wonder dog, ( border collie) taught me about frolicking in the snow..I miss my buddy of 13 years every day...she was truly a wonder dog..goofy Lucinda used to make a bunch of snow guinea pigs..we didn't tell her they looked like lumps with rocks for eyes..she thought they were artistic..weird-o!!..No post from Basil yet..you okay buddy?..all my doggie pals have a really good day..I must go for a short walk-about and then help make a stew for dinner..( I lay in the middle of the kitchen floor)..over and out..Cora-belle

Hello Ladies & G.K.,
The snow looks very fun for you G.K., but not for us short haired Frenchies. I like the bed idea myself. The only thing better is a fire in front of it. I am very late today as Mom and Dad were at the hospital from early on with a friend getting a pacemaker. It looks like all had a pretty good weekend. I hope your Mom and Grandma are better soon Zoe, and Cora Belle, I am imagining you eating your maple bars and having fun. Eat a bar for Basil Boy too. Have a great day all.
Love & licks,
Basil

Hi, G.K., Girls, & Glue Squad,
Wow!! That snow sure looks fun, but I've heard(from Fergie)that it's very cold.I've never seen snow, because I came to Florida when I was a pup, and whenever I've traveled with Mom and Fergie, we've had cold sometimes, but never snow. Fergie stayed with her breeder for what seemed like a LONG time last year, and said she saw a little snow, and got to play in it. I'm with you, Frenchies, I would need a coat because I do NOT like cold or wet stuff.I can't imagine dogs living in snow, much less running a very long way through it, like they do in that Iditirod race! But, G.K., if any dog can live(and play)in snow,it would be you with that big coat you have! Glad to hear that everybody is doing well; keep up the good work, Glue Squad!!
Your pals,
Lily & Fergie

Good Evening F, S & GK and all my Gluesquad friends - I'm back
First off - please keep that white stuff North!!! No snow please....... F & S I'm with you give me a nice warm bed to snuggle in and send GK out with the donkeys.
So let me tell you I have been one busy nurse the past 4 days. My mom got so sick on Thursday morning she was praying to die
I've never seen her that sick it was scary. Nothing would stay in her I kept giving her gingerale and water but as soon as she would drink up and out it came - so GROSS. That lasted 48 hours then things started to calm down. Dad was making her drink gatorade because she became dehydrated and if she didn't drink he was taking her to the hospital. I convinced her to drink and made her eat some crackers and nursed her back to health. Hey F & S does your mom carry a nurses outfit at PetSmart? I need one with a funky nurse hat to match. Oh and I need one of those things to wear around my neck to check the heart beat - I'm ready for the ER. So I'm happy to report mom is still weak but is much better.
Well let me get back to my patient, I'll tell you my work is never done.
Good Night!!
Nurse Zoe
