G.K. Wins in Tennessee

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

Even though I’ve been away in Tennessee, I have been reading this blog and all of your comments.  I am now proud to report what has occurred!  I won a couple of more ribbons for my collection and gathered more important points!

I'm really trying not to let my Best of Breed win at the Westminster Dog Show get to my head, but I am getting used to being pampered! I now take my breakfast in bed! That's right - in a bed!

However, I do get a bit homesick now and again, so sometimes I sleep on the cool, tiled floor of the bathroom. It reminds me of the cool, marble floors of Martha's kitchen.

After a nice long rest, it's time for the show! This show was sponsored by the Nashville Kennel Club and was specifically organized for specialty breeds.

Jan, I'm glad you wore yellow. It coordinates well with my fur, don't you think?

I also got a cute towel and treat container! Jan, Karen, and I thought it would be best to donate the dog food to a Chow Rescue organization in the area for Chows less fortunate than I.

While I didn't win Best of Breed at that particular show, I did win Select dog, which earns me more points towards the Grand Championship title that I aspire to.

In the next show, I competed against thirteen dogs and won Best of Breed that time! I can't wait to show the Frenchies all the neat stuff I've been winning, like this towel and umbrella!

  • Hello G.K.,
I am soooo very proud of you. Pretty soon a new room will have to be built for all your ribbons. I know the entire Glue Squad missed you, but know these points are important. And how thoughtful of you and Karen donating the food you won to a rescue. The girls missed you and I heard through the grapevine yesterday on the blog that little Jude has a new little brother. Wow and double wow for all of you!!!Have a great day, and we are glad you are home again.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Alright GK!!!!!
I woke up and thought I would check out the DW and sure enough, your post was on about Tennessee. Everybody was asking about you but I know what it is like when you win and I knew it was your story to tell I knew everyone would understand.
Good job son. You are being a bit modest. You are not only a Champion but you now have a new title BISS. That means Best In Specialty Show. Way to go. I am very proud of you. Well, I am going back to sleep now and I will comment again later today
    Love ya son,
    Proud Papa Maddox

  • Congratulations GK.

  • Hello again Glue Squad,
I was concentrating my thoughts so much on GK at the shows that I neglected my friends and I apologize for that. I am so happy that everyone had good vet visits. Cora-Belle, Karen said to tell you that she thinks a red cattle dog is very pretty but you are beautiful. Chloe, ask the expert Zoe about snatching the TP. I am sure she will give you some good tips. Zoe, will you be tearing up the plants your mom just put in?
Happy Belated Birthday Delia and kudos to you for beating cancer. Speaking of birthdays, I was so very sad when I saw that our dear little friend Rebel does not know when his is. It was sometime in Jan/Feb in 2005. He has no special day to celebrate. I think, if it is alright with him and Mimi, that we help him to pick a special day that is just his. Each of us could pick the month, either Jan. or Feb, pick a day and say a little about why we picked that day and then let Rebel and Mimi decide what day, if any of our choices, he would like to be his birthday. That would be neat for him to go to the vet next time and tell her that his birthdate is ------------ and the Glue Squad said that is official. Hehehehehe.
    Love to all,
    Maddox

  • Hey G.K.!
Congratulations! We're so proud of you! I think your pleasant disposition will keep you on a winning streak. You'll have to pardon my Mimi, but she loves your eyes. She thinks you're cute! We guys are handsome...what's up with her? What cool prizes you get, too. Who gets the umbrella? Eating in bed? I can dig it....
Thanks for thinking of me Maddox. It would be nice to have a day to celebrate.
    Have a great day everybody.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi GK and all the Glue Squad members,
GK, you showed so well this past weekend. Jan was very proud of how well you did in the ring. So am I. Thank you to everyone who sent good thoughts to GK. It seems as though we are getting more Glue Squadders. That is great. I am so happy that everyone seems to be doing well in the health department too.
One thing though Mr. Genghis Kahn, do not get too used to having your breakfast served in bed every day when you are at shows. As Maddox would say, hehehehehe
    Love,
    Karen
PS- GK donated two bags of dog food that he won to the Chow Rescue in that area. There were chows dumped off near a busy highway a while back in Georgia. Kirby Bear may have heard about it. A lot of people stepped in to help these dogs.

  • Congratulations GK to another round of points for the wins!!! :-) Karen and Jan a job "well done!
Have a safe trip home you guys...

Thanks Karen for the BD wish and the kudos...yes I am Blessed!

Got to run, a friend of mine needs my help with a sick horse...

    till later.
    delia & Kitty =^. .^=

  • Good Morning Girls and GK,

Great news GK. We are all so proud of you. I'm sure the girls are glad you are home.
Mom decided to do some yard work last night and I was right our there helping her. I don't think she appreciated my help though. She did a lot of yelling at me :) but we had fun.LOL
I think Rebel's birthday day should be February 14 since we all love him here at the DW and what a better day then Valentine's Day to celebrate how much you love someone :) My birthday is coming up, April 29. I will be 1. Mom said she hopes I start to calm down. I just can't help myself sometimes though. I get soooooo excited for no reason LOL.
Oh well, off to take a nap. These rainy days make me a bit tired. I hope everyone has a great day.

    Chloe xx

  • Hello Again,
Maddox, that is a great idea for Rebel. We never knew Tasha's actual b-day either and made it up as you say. Let's go for it Glue Squaders. That is if Rebel agrees. Also, I was very tired when I posted and forgot, which I am very, very, sorry for Delia, to say Happy Belated Birthday also. You and I are both miracles of modern medicine. Kitty, give Delia an extra cuddle from Old Basil Boy. See ya all later.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Boy GK really knows how to do those shows. He is doing a good job of representing us Chows in those shows. Keep up the good work and congratulations again. If Rebel doesn’t know when his birthday is, how about February second; Groundhog Day. That way all of us could remember that day for him. I’ll be away in a couple weeks for a trip to eastern Tennessee. The Masters is coming to town and we always get away from that mess it cerates. Most of the people who go to the golf game aren’t bad at all. It’s that thousand, or so, that come to town without a ticket just so that they can tell everyone that they were here during the Masters. I’m glad I’m a dog; people can be so dumb at times.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Congratulations, G.K.!!!!!! I knew you would do well and I know you are going to earn your Grand Championship in no time flat!!!!

I think that Rebel's birthday should be February 14th. After all, this is a day for celbrating love and I just know that Rebel is bringing lots of love to his family!!

Well, if you recall, I also had a competition this past weekend and I'm very proud to report that I have earned my CKC Rally Novice title with scores of 94/100, 98/100 & 90/100. These scores earned me a class 4th place each day so we were awarded a big rosette each day!!

My Mom said she is especially proud of me for this title because the show was so very busy and there were lots of distractions and also because for the first time we were competing in the "B" class. This class is for teams that have earned other titles in obedience as well as professional handlers.

let's see if we can keep the winning going all year long, big guy!! Whoo Hoo!!!

  • Hi again,
I am being a pain in the butt today. I am just excited about Rebel thinking it is kool to find a special day for him. I think we should keep giving him a date and reason for picking that date for the rest of the week. That way, he could sit down with Mimi and either decide on one of the Glue Squad dates or one that he comes up with for himself. Either way, no matter which date he picks he will have an official Glue Squad birthdate and I'd anyone questions it, they will have to take it up with the Glue Squad. We want our buddy to have a special day like the rest of us do.
So, come on everyone, send in your birthdate and reason for Rebel and hopefully, by Monday, he will let us know what it is. Sharkey, GK and Francesca, I hope you all help in this birthday project too.
One more thing, way to go Finnegan. That is wonderful news. Really good scores.
Ok, I am going to go and think of a date for Rebel till my brain starts smoking.
    Hehehehehe

  • Congratulations, G.K.! I am so proud of you, not only for winning those ribbons, but for donating your food prize to less fortunate Chow Chows. I, myself, was once surrendered to the local humane society where I was immediately taken in by an experienced Pekingese foster for rehabilitation due to skin allergies. As good fortune would have it, I met my forever mom at Petsmart and now I'm the First Dog because my father is serving as Mayor of our city! It's always fantastic to hear stories about winners but it's especially nice to read about winners with great big hearts like yours. Continued best wishes in your career!

    Love,
    Poco

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K.+ Glue Squaders, OMG! What a wonderful blog post you did today handsome Ghenghis Khan! I am sooo happy to see you again and am so proud of you for everything you did in Tennessee last weekend! Karen and Jan are fantastic care takers of you and they treat you so well! Sure would love to meet them and of course, YOU! How thoughtful to give that dog food to those mistreated chows! I know F&S are very happy to see you again! I'm sure Martha is back home from LA and hope you see her, year old baby Jude, and one week old baby Truman, and Alexis!!!! It took me awhile to read all of these delightful comments from all of our friends and I loved everyone of them! Delia, Happy Birthday! Karen, you and Jan are the greatest! Maddox, you are such a wonderful papa of our pal G.K.! Rebel, hope you had a happy birthday, also! When my Mom adopted me, we didn't know when my birthday was either except some time in June of 2004 so she decided to celebrate my birthday all 30 days of June every year and I love it! Best wishes to all of you great friends and hope everyone (animals&humans) have a great day! It's cold, windy, and a little snowy here today-can't wait for sunshine! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • "Eating like a rock star, eating like a rock star..." Congrats G.K. you and Team G.K. did it again. You didn't miss a beat after Westminster. MommyM, Franny, and Sharkey have to be so proud of you. It's extra nice that you donated the 20lbs. of dog food to help out Chows in need. What a good boy you are.

Congrats on your new Rally Novice title too Finnegan! Those scores look very impressive. I vote we celebrate Rebel's B-Day February 14th too. Happy Belated B-Day to you and your sister Delia. I hope you had a wonderful day. Chloe tell your Mom you can't help it, you're just a growing, energetic but very adorable puppy still.

  • Hello Everyone,
I, Old Basil Boy, am excited as well for a date for Rebel's birthday. I think Kirby's Groundhog Day idea is fantastic as well as Valentine's Day. Listen to what my lightbulb told me a minute ago Glue Squadders. Mom always calls our birthday months, the birthday season, and we celebrate it all month long. I think Rebel deserves an entire month of days to celebrate. I think his birthday should be , plain and simple......FEBRUARY!!! You see around here, Mom's friends take her to lunch and the kids fix a dinner and Dad takes her out. Rebel your birthday should be a grand celebration of happiness all month long. Therefore, I, Basil, am proposing that we the Glue Squad, make February, Rebel's birthday. How fun, every day each of us wants could be his birthday. This could start a new trend---the birthday season. Think about it Rebel.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Fantastic GK!

I can sense your confidence now that you have a few shows under your belt.

Gee, the goody bags rock! How thoughtful to donate to less fortunate furry pals.

I am a bit miffed about the breakfast in bed! Sheesh, I've never even had that luxury!

Maybe I need to glue on some fur and pretend I am GK's ghost! :)

Love to you and the gang!

    gail

  • Well, My BD is in Dec. and I say woof woof and grr. Now, congrats MR. Handsome Chow!

    Jumps and Licks,
    Nadia

  • Great Job G. K.! We are so proud of you and your kind consideration of the chow rescue dogs. I am a rescue dog and have had a great new life in my new home since July. I think Basil is right and maybe Rebel can celebrate his birthday all February since it is a month to remember your loved ones- human and furry. We are celebrating my birthday all March! Hope some of you are enjoying running around the yard in this 66 degree weather like me. Love, your pug frenchie fan- Abby

  • Happy Tuesday!
GK and Karen ... have to say you are quite a team, congratulations to both of you. Maddox, your chest must really be puffed out with all the good things your son is doing. Congrats to you Maddox for being GK's Dad. Without you there'd be no story :) Rebel, may I suggest January 1st for your BD because that way we will know for sure your actual BD isn't missed AND I always thought it would be neat to be the first puppy born in the New Year! GK, back to you, High Paws to you for donating your prize dog food. I'm always giving pretend gold stars to friends for good deeds and you have certainly earned one. Just remember I can also take away my pretend Gold Stars. More about that later he he. Love to all of you from Lola.

  • ..wow..the birthday season..now that is a cool idea..i love birthdays and every critter deserves a festive time for their special day..a whole birthday month....good idea Basil!..wow, the sun is out.. must go check tracks in the snow..later Cora-belle...P.s. Delia hope the sick horse is doing better... don't like any critter not feeling perky

  • Hello F & S

I'm so friggen late posting any more it makes me sick! My mom needs to get her act together and make sure I post before she does ANYTHING!!

So Rebel I'm thinking March 17 - St. Patrick's day. We can all have a shot of Jamison for your birthday :) Ok maybe I won't but mom will!

Way to go G.K.! You looked pretty homesick laying on the bathroom floor. I think you need to tell Martha enough with the showdog and more with G.K. the loving pet.

Well mom tried to keep me out of the garden but I got in, I need to send a few pointers to Chloe. I especially loved the spinach, nice and crisp and not to mention healthy ;)

So I had a time out today I chewed up my mom's Brennan coasters she got from Ireland. Didn't go over real well, dad wanted to shoot me, tried to catch me but I ran around the house like a bat out of hell. Thank God he has COPD and had to stop, I had another coaster hid under the sofa and had that after he had to sit down. I think I need an exorcism - know any good priests?

    Zoe

  • Hi, Franny, Sharkey, G.K. & Glue Squad!
Sorry we missed congratulating you yesterday, things got crazy around here. We knew it was good news-you've really got the hang of this show dog thing, G.K.! So, big congratulations on a great weekend! and congratulations to you, too, Finnegan! Mom says that conformation wins are nice, but performance wins mean the most, cuz you really have to work hard for those wins-not that G.K. and Fergie don't work hard, but performance is everyday work. Not just doing squirrel patrol, Fergie!!
More later, got to go out and enjoy the beautiful day-and do squirrel patrol!

    Your pals,
    Lily and Fergie
