Why do we Have a Topiary Donkey?

Posted by Sharkey

We dogs were sitting at the kitchen door the other day watching the world go by, when I spotted a very strange thing out in the courtyard.  After investigating, I found out that this object was sent from a place in Brooklyn, NY called Dig Gardens.   Now we just have to figure out why?

Francesca! GK! There is something strange outside! It appears to be some sort of green animal about Frenchie size!

I'll just wait here, where it's safe, while you girls investigate. That green color is kind of disturbing.

Hmmm, it's shaped like one of the miniature donkeys except that it's much more miniature! But our mini donks are the smallest size there is! And they definitely don't come in green! We need a closer look.

Well, Francesca, would you look at that! It's a topiary in the shape of a donkey!

Topiaries are often made by trimming trees, shrubs, or bushes into shapes. This is a different type of topiary.

Oh I see, the donkey shape is actually a wire frame, which appears to be filled with sphagnum moss. Sphagnum is often referred to as peat moss, as it's often found growing on top of peat bogs.

You know what? I can pose like that, too. Why doesn't someone make a topiary of me? The art of topiary has been around since Roman times. What better way to be immortalized?

How about this, Sharkey? Is this a good pose?

Or should I look off this way, like I'm daydreaming?

Just think, people all over the globe could decorate their lawns with Topiary Francescas! This could be big, Sharkey!

Oh Francesca, you're so silly. We don't need a topiary version of you—one of you is enough!

  • Good Morning F & S

Franny I think that is a great idea a Frenchie Topiary. I know my mom would get one for the yard.

I'm so happy it's Friday and mom said she is not working all weekend :) I hope we spend lots of time in the kitchen making good stuff to eat.

Sunday is the SuperBowl I guess we should cheer for the Giants since they play right here in NJ but that Tom Brady is pretty cute :)

Have a great weekend everyone. Cora Belle I'm happy to hear from you - you're in my prayers.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
I like the idea of a topiary. I think a frenchie version would be a hot seller. G.K. you silly boy, afraid of the green thing. You don't run off any more do you, now that you are a big showdog?

The snow is flowing steady and we are expected to get up to 18 inches. They better get a bigger area cleaned off for me. I need lots of room for my business.

Superbowl Sunday here I come. Food and family, that's what I am all about.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • "Frenchies with an attitude
Chow Chows that were in the mood
Don't just stand there let's get to it
strike a pose there's nothing to it VOGUE!"

Franny you are looking good. Are you thinking about following in MommyM's footsteps of modeling? The little donkey is very cute and an excellent addition to the farm. G.K. you are a fearless Chow Chow and Chow Chow's were once the palace guard dogs. No hiding behind your sister's fur there young fella. Finally it's Super Bowl weekend! Should be a great game. Everyone have a safe, fun weekend. Cora-Belle good to hear that you're still keeping the coons in line on the ranch.

  • Hellooo! This is my first visit to your blog, and I wanted to tell you how cuuute you two are! I love digging holes in the backyard and playing with my furry sister, Nala. I love doing zoomies! And I especially love playing with my stuffies! Do you both have a favorite toy?

It was nice to meet you! Maybe you could stop by and visit me sometime. Enjoy your weekend!

    Woofs & hugs, <3

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
A Frenchie Topiary may sound good but they would soon be out of style. I mean, if you started with a Frenchie then other animals would follow and you soon would be out of business. I guess everyone on the planet knows what is happening this weekend? Yesssss, the Yukon Quest Dog Sled races begin in Fairbanks, Alaska on Saturday. Some seem to think that it is cruel to make those dogs run that far but, believe me on this, they love it. I just wish I could join them. But I would have to be the lead dog. That way the scenery would always be changing.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Love the Topiary of the Donk...I wish I had one for my Moss Garden...maybe I can make one...Yep, I think a Frenchie Topiary would be adorable.

Saw a FB Dog this morning on GMA that is a football mascot and he looks just like you Sharkey!

Have a great weekend everyone, and God Bless Cora Belle!

  • Hey, I'm here late...Where is everyone?
Ya know Frannie, I think you'd look great as a topiary. But, who would know it's you? It would honor all the Frenchies out there, like our friend Basil. Hey G.K., what's up with sending the girls out to investigate. Man up big boy! LOL... I really think you'd dig on a topiary of yourself. That would be one big bush! In the meantime, that little donkey is way cool...And I like your jackets, they cover your tail bones nicely.
Basil...get the shovel out buddy! To anyone else that may get the big snow, Stay warm & cozy.
Cora Belle, rest easy, my friend, we're all with you.
    Enjoy the Super Bowl.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Franny,
You don't want a topiary of yourself. You are unique, one of a kind
That makes you extra special, you to Sharkey
Geez GK, afraid of it? I don't think so. I think you are waiting for the girls to
get away from it so you can go "water" it.
    Hehehehe
it is very nice. I wonder what the donks think of it
Another nice day here. Football and dog sledding all in one weekend
Kool. Kirby Bear, if you were the lead dog for the sled you would jeep on the
path till you saw a female canine on the sidelines. Then you would go off the
beaten path being you are such a ladies man.
I will check back later gang.
    Love to all,
    Maddox
