Mr. Quiggly, the fast Frenchie!

Posted by F&S

How many of you Daily Wag readers saw that very funny Sketchers commercial during the Super Bowl about Mr. Quiggly, the French bulldog?  Apparently, if a Frenchie wears a set of Skektchers running shoes, he or she can outrun a pack of greyhounds!  Too funny!

Sharkey, do you remember that hysterical commercial during the Super Bowl with the French Bulldog? The dog that looks like you? Well, I found it online, so let's watch it again!

Oh Franny, who could forget this one, about the Frenchie racing against greyhounds? It's kind of making fun of our breed with our stout bodies and short legs. We don't much look like the racing type!

Then, along comes Mr. Quiggly! Sharkey, he really looks so much like you!

Hmmm...Yes, there is a strong resemblance, but he seems to have many more wrinkles around his neck.

You're right, Sharkey. And besides, Mr. Quiggly is a handsome male and you are a beautiful lady.

Sharkey, what about those running shoes he's wearing? They must have special powers to make him run so fast!

If we order shoes like that, do you think we'll run as fast as Mr. Quiggly? Just think about it - the squirrels around here wouldn't stand a chance!

I've seen shoes for dogs before to protect paws from harsh elements, but I've never seen dog shoes for running!

Besides, Francesca, you can't believe everything you see on television! I think this is just a clever commercial. Staying healthy and fit is what will keep us in shape for squirrel chasing, not shoes!

  • Hello Ladies,
I meant to ask everyone yesterday if they saw Mr. Quiggly on the SB commercials. He gives new meaning to fast Frenchies.Hehehehehehe!!!!! Sharkey, you have a much more dainty look than Mr. Quiggly. The only resemblance is the color of the fur. Much like Zoe and I are very similar in color, but still very different. We waited the entire SB for the commercial with all the dogs barking the Star Wars theme and never saw it.

There has been a lot of talking in the house--quiet talking betweeen Mom and Dad. I know I have a doctor's appointment on Friday to check how the tumor is. I have been having a few bladder control issues and I think that is a problem. I heard something about a "Potty Patch" being ordered, whatever the heck that is. I am just not going to think about Friday.

Anyway, I am glad the dogs ruled the SB commercials this year. No offense Kitty. In the past I hear there were a lot of frog commercials. I saw a Dalmation too!!! And Budweiser even promoted pet adoption. That was a really cool thing!! It is snowing some more, so I better take my meds and rest. I am not really too hungry these days. Rest in front of the fire is nice.

    Have a great day.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Good Morning F & S

I missed posting yesterday - thank you mom :(
I can't get too mad we spent the entire weekend together. She was feeling under the weather so we had lots of sofa time it was wonderful.

Maddox I think a Glue Squad performace would be great! I can pop out of a big roll of TP :) Hey Bailey welcome to the Glue Squad.

Cora Belle I have steps to get into bed, like Basil said once you get use to them they are really fun. Mom says I run up and down like a bat out of hell.

Mom left for work again early today so I'm not getting much time. Enjoy your day :)

    Zoe

  • Hello girls,
I bet if you would see Mr. Quiggly in person, shoes or not, you would beat him in a race. You girls run all over the farm chasing squirrels and checking on the other animals and things like that. You are in excellent shape. That Quiggly guy probably sits around all day signing autographs. Just wait till we do the Half Time show next year. Quiggly will be begging to join the Glue Squad. Hehehehehe
Hey little buddy Basil, you better eat. I don't know what a Potty Patch is but if you have to get one, we will be here for you. Chloe, you are getting to be a big girl going out by yourself. Your mom is trusting you so don't blow it. And you little Glue Squadders that have all that snow should have an antenna with a bright colored ball on top attached to you when you go out so your people can locate you in all that snow
    love to all,
    Maddox

  • Good morning ladies,
We saw Quigley..his commercial got the most laughs. All the adults stopped eating (wow, dog power!) to watch that Frenchie speed around. I was thinking about those shoes, too. Think barefootin' is the way for me.
We missed the barking dogs, too! Mimi watched it on the computer 3 times! Lots of laughing there, too. I think she had to take a potty break...lol
Sharkey dear, there is no dog like you....
    Your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I need some of those shoes too. I come really close to catching those squirrels at times; those shoes would be a big help. But wait a minute here. I would have to learn how to run up and down the stairs again with those things on my feet. I think I’ll just leave the shoes alone for a while. I’ll bet Zoe even looks like a “bat” running up and down those stairs. Now as for me, I look like a red streak when I run those stairs. As big as I am, I only hit half of them going up or down. Warm weather means hair time for me. I am wearing the “shade of shame” again. I get brushed twice a day now but that doesn’t stop me from pulling it out myself.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Good Morning F&S,

I saw the commercial and of course the first one I thought of was cousin Zoe. Mom says she doesn't need running shoes, she is fast enough as it is. Basil, good luck on Friday. Me and mom will be praying for you:) And Maddox... I am trying my best. Mom says I am a good girl all the time so that is good :) Well, it's Tuesday so that means Aunt Denise will be coming soon to clean. I just love when she comes. And also it means I have school tonight :( But mom says I am doing much better with my "down" command. AND snow is coming tomorrow :) I had so much fun the last snow we had. Can't wait.
    Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!

    Chloe xx

  • You pooches are too funny :-) yep dominating the commercials, no offense taken Basil! <3
Quiggly is the dog I mentioned a few days ago he was on GMA and thought, oh wow just like Sharkey! You are so right Sharkey, staying healthy and fit is what will keep you pups in shape for squirrel chasing, not shoes! Besides those shoes on Quiggly where digitally added to the paws...that's what mommie delia told me, and she says she knows everything..oh brother! ;-)

Okay, I got to go and find a spot in the house to sleep, actually under the ferns looks like a nice place, it reminds me of being outside...come on Spring! :-)

Have a Meeeuuwtiful day everyone! :-) :-) off to sleep again...

    Kitty =^~ ~^= and delia

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., You two girls are the most beautiful Frenchies I have ever seen in my life! Mr. Quiggly is a handsome fellow and was so much fun to see in that Super Bowl ad! All of those ads with dogs were the best ones and Mom and I sure enjoyed seeing them! We love seeing you girls, GK, and all of our buddies here on The Daily Wag the most! Maddox, I agree with you on your comments-you are so smart! Basil, sure hope you are doing OK and my thoughts are with you, especially on Friday! Zoe, sure hope your Mom is doing better! Hope all of you fantastic friends have another great day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Ladies, now would be a great time to revive your talk show and do a special show featuring Mr. Quiggly and the other doggies from the Super Bowl ads. Wouldn't that be a hoot? Move over Jimmy Fallon.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Basil. Take it easy but please eat some food to keep up your strength please. Chloe keep having fun, you'll get that 'Down; thingie yet. Zoe you know that your Mom hanging out with you is the best medicine for her.

  • ..wish i could run like Mr. Quiggly..I thought of my departed pal Quiggly the guniea pig, now he could run too, all around the house 90 miles an hour, thank good he didn't have tennis shoes, we would have never caught the rodent after play time...Basil, buddy, all will be well, your humans will see to that..but try and have a little snack.. I know its hard to eat when you don't feel perky..Zoe, hope Ann feels better..but snuggling with you probably was the best med..Chole, Rebel, Maddox,Dudley, Kirby and Ann..guess what i get to do this afternoon..the sun is out here in the Northwest and LUcinda attached the trailer to the John Deere mini tractor and we are going on a ride about..me snuggled in a bunch of blankets..watch out critters..I'm back to patroling the farm/ranch! Basil, I will bark especially loud at any intruders just for you..over and out Cora-belle

  • Hey! My Mom knows 'Mr. Quiggly's' mom (That's his show biz name, by the way, not his real one) because she is a volunteer for French Bulldog Rescue Network. Isn't that neat? We loved that commercial at our house. Some of Mom's friends were upset about the commercial because they are afraid that people won't understand that it's meant to be funny, and that Frenchies really can't run fast like that, will want to adopt one, then not want to keep it and that will mean more Frenchies in rescue. Sometimes I think some of Mom's friends have no sense of humor. But we are making a special donation in Mr. Quiggly's name to FBRN, just in case they are right.
