Friends of the Daily Wag

Posted by Pia

As promised, here are some great pics of our 'canine readers'- including the self-named 'Glue Squad,' a great crew of regulars who 'meet' here in the comments section each day. They are loyal friends to each other and to us at the DW- always offering lots of pooch-loving support and encouragement to their fellow readers.

The photos pretty much say it all, but I thought I'd share some sentiments sent from two Glue Squad member to all of you! Lynn's and Karen's heartfelt words illustrate how the human-animal bond can foster a bond between fellow humans as well.

Hello Dr. Pia,
I am Maddox, handsome father of GK.
After I retired from the show circuit, I started commenting on a regular basis on The Daily Wag. I got to be friends with and to care deeply for the regulars. I noticed how we all supported one another regarding health issues, behavior or when one of us did something very good too.

I came up with The Glue Squad name. I said that no matter what, we stick together like glue. We are there for the other members for the good and the bad. I hope that there will be Glue Squad Chapters that spring up all over the country. It doesn't cost a dime to truly care about and support one another and it makes you feel all warm inside and as Martha would say, "that is a good thing". Hehehehehe
Love you to pieces,
Maddox

Hello Dr. Pia,
Thank you so very much for your devotion to animal adoption. In my entire life so far, they was only a period of about 8 months between dogs that I have ever not had a companion. Basil is the first small dog I have ever been around and he warmed into our hearts right away. In 35 years of marriage Basil is our 5th companion of the 4 legged nature.

Since Basil and I have joined the Daily Wag conversations on the blog, we have had many, many smiles and laughs. We learn a lot, and share a lot, and feel although we have never met, all the Glue Squad and you Dr. Pia, help us through each day. We are very lucky and fortunate to be a part of this group. Thanks to Martha and her staff and to you. The photo of Tasha (Basil's late best buddy) is doing what she loved most, fetching. She was a Black Lab Mix, adopted from a nearby shelter. Basil is a Tiger, Brindle French Bulldog.

Basil has survived many health issues with the help of an excellent doctor, but I believe his buddies on The Daily Wag, and all their paws crossed and prayers have been something that has kept Basil and I going. We love you all!!!

Love, Lynn and licks from Basil

It seems clear that a shared commitment to the well being of our animal companions can traverse great distances- via cyber space-leading to the amazing community of humans and dogs alike who convene here at the Daily Wag.

I for one, am honored to be among such caring souls- And I know my sentiments are shared by F, S and GK. Thanks so much to all of you for supporting us, each other and our fellow creatures.

In kinship,
Dr. Pia Salk

P.S. Please continue to send me your pics and comments- and for anyone who is a regular reader, but did not yet send in a pic, please share one for us to post for the rest of the crew.

  • Good morning Dr. Pia,
Very nice post. Thank you for bringing attention to the Glue Squad. The Daily Wag brought us together and we have developed a very special bond that runs from the tips of our fur right down into our hearts. Our human Glue Squad members share the same feelings about us as we do regarding them.
I am proud to be part of the Glue Squad. To care so strongly about others that you have never met, that is really something. It let's you know that no matter what life throws at us, we have a very unique support team to that is willing to take that journey with us. I hope Martha and the DW staff realize how grateful we are to them. We are one big family. Our love for one another is the glue that holds us together.
Hey guys, we are growing in popularity. People are talking about the Glue Squad. Maybe they will make a movie about us. Then we would have to do the talk show circuit, write a book, have autograph sessions, the whole nine yards. Of course we will have to get our own bus to travel in. Oh boy, here I go again. Sorry, when I get into something, I just run with it. Hehehehehe
    Love to all,
    Maddox
PS- We are all thinking about you Cora-Belle.

  • Good Morning Dr. Pia

I'm so happy this morning thank you for posting pictures of all my friends. And thank you for recognizing that I was gardening and not eating the dirt. There were a few weeds in that pot that needed to be removed ;)

Minnow it's a good thing your tush shot wasn't up against a Frenchie you would have been blown straight across the room. Warning Frenchie's do a lot of tooting - no I wouldn't call it tooting I would call it Bombing!! We're known to clear a room in a few seconds.

I hope our weather is sunny and warm again today. What a treat February 1st and I was out sunning on the deck catching some rays with Precious. I'm loving this winter. I hope the old ground hog gives us a good report today I can't wait for Spring to arrive.

Have a great day my friends!!

    Zoe

  • Oh I love seeing all the pooches and kitkat of the Glue Squad! Obviously I over-read the instructions for submissions ~the artist in me~ ;-) so I apologies for the over exposure...just wanting to share some of my past fur-loves, they meant so much to me.

Minnow sleeping with Max is absolutely adorable, furever-love.

    Wow F & S look-a-likes and two labs Sophie & Precious(redhead & blond)they look just like my grandogs!

~Glue Squad and their Fur-friends, F & S, G.K., all of MS fur-gang, and sweet Dr. Pia, they are the reasons we are here, sharing our love for our pets~

Weekend is coming up - be Happy and Safe!

Thanks Dr. Pia for the great posts. :-)

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
And hello to you too Dr. Pia. So nice to see the pictures today of the G/S (Glue Squad). Mine isn’t there so you will have to look me up on FaceBook (Kirby Bear). Boy an I really out of breath right now. I’ve been out looking for that groundhog all morning. Daddy said that he came out early so I had better be on guard. The sun is shining really bright today so I guess Mr. Groundhog will be back in his little house for another six weeks. I don’t think a groundhog knows any more about the weather than I do. When I want to know the weather I just check my tail: If it’s dry, it’s mild. If it’s hot, it’s sunny. If it’s wet, it’s raining. If it’s shaking around, it’s windy. If it’s gone, don’t even go there.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Dr. Pia and all my buddies,
Hooray, hooray, today is a great day. I have gotten to see all my DW buddies. Dr. Pia, thank you very much for all the photos. It takes a lot of time and hard work to do everything Dr. Pia and we love you.

Zoe, I love seeing all your siblings. Maddox your photo is that of a champion. No wonder you came up with the Glue Squad name. I think we should have our own animated television show---like the Mod Squad or Batman and Robin. We are the crusaders for the animal world. It was a perfect day to see all the photos as I had a hard night. I will rest and dream of all my buddies.

Thanks Dr. Pia and everyone!!!! Have a great day.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Thanks Dr Pia!
Oh, I do love to see my friends. I was in my bed just the other night in front of the fire. It's a favorite place for me to be.
Maddox, what a beautiful portrait. All groomed and handsome. Mimi & Papa's Mopsa O'Plain Field (alias Sandy) was a beautiful Sheltie. I'm the casual type....I'm gonna look up Kirby Bear on facebook. Hey Minnow! The grandkids have a kitty named Mr. Fatters, I wonder if he would let me curl up with him? Sending loving thoughts your way, Cora Belle.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi Dr. Pia, Thank you so much for another delightful blog post today! All of these photos of The Daily Wag followers are absolutely stunning and DDR and I love to view them over and over again! The Glue Squad, originated by handsome Maddox is such a wonderful group and the new followers are terrific, also! Please tell Minnow that she is extremely beautiful and she has a wonderful family, too! Thank you so much for sharing the photo I was finally able to sent to you of my sweet, little Dudley Do Right-he loves all of our buddies and kitties, too! Hope you, your family, and all of our friends have a great day and a fabulous weekend! Love to all, Jan & DDR

  • Thanks Dr. Pia for a special Glue Squad edition. So nice to see so many DW buddies posted. Hey there DDR, I'll ride shotgun with you anytime. Take on the range with you. Very sweet of you to also post the beautiful Tasha having fun as well.

    EVERYONE looks wonderful!!!

  • Hi everybody..what great doggie pictures..you all look so grand..I am pleased to be part of such a great group..thanks Dr. Pia for the posting...I didn't send my photo..but you all know if you've seen one cattledog you remember we are rough and tumble looking..speaking of rough and tumble..seems i did a bit much of that in my early years..so here is some advice from an old girl..be careful with your bodies...chasing, herding, generally racing around like a madman takes its toll on you joints...as we speak, I am still being carried outdoors..today James is making a ramp for me to go up and down on the front porch stairs..my legs are not too steady and I am limping..but that is only a minor set back..can't keep an old cattle dog down..we soldier on! Thanks for all the kind thoughts what a great group of doggers my glue squad buddies are...must take more meds...eat a snack..have Lucinda take me out so I can fire off a couple barks..all the coons, otters, etc. have really been misbehaving since i haven't been outside on a regular basis..little do they know I am on the mend...Happy Groundhog Day..your buddy, Cora-belle

  • oh..no..I'm sorry Delia..the kitty pictures are great, too, and the horses, I like kitties and horses...later Cora-belle

  • Cora-Belle,
I thought you weren't posting again until Friday. What a pleasant surprise
Thank you girlfriend. By the way, you are not just any ordinary cattledog. We saw your picture. You are BEAUTIFUL So you better rephrase that. There are cattledogs and then there is Cora-Belle. Hope you have a good night tonight Basil.
That goes for all of you.
    Later,
    Maddox

  • Hi Pia,
I feel a little left out.LOL I know I haven't been blogging as long as the others but I am cousin to the famous Zoe and....... no pic of me. Do I have to send pictures of me to a different email other then the one for the DW? Maybe you could let me know what it is and mom can send you some of me. But I did enjoy seeing all the pictures of my new friends.
    Thanks.

    Chloe XX
