I'm No Turkey!

Posted by Sharkey

Franny and I were watching Martha’s show leading up to Thanksgiving and Martha shared some holiday cheer of photos that viewers sent in.  One was of a silly Frenchie who was pretending to be a Thanksgiving turkey all ready for carving.  Martha actually said she wanted me to do the same thing.  I don’t think so.

Sharkey! Are you seeing what I'm seeing? A viewer sent a photo of their Frenchie posing as a turkey for Thanksgiving! Can you believe it?

Did I just hear Martha correctly? Sharkey, she said she wants you to pose like a turkey, too!

I don't know about this, Francesca. I think Martha was just making a joke. I never thought of myself as a turkey before.

Come on, Sharkey! This could be fun! We'll set the whole thing up on this wooden cutting board, just like the photograph we saw on TV.

All you have to do is lie down on the board and I'll style the shot.

Franny, if you're so gung ho, why don't you lie down on this board and let me style the photo?

Sharkey, Martha specifically said you should do it! I'll add some citrus and some greenery sprigs for garnish, just like the photo in Martha's new Entertaining book!

Okay, Franny - I see that you're really getting into this and your garnish does look pretty.

It even smells really good!

What? You want me to roll over like the Frenchie in the photo?

I know that a roasted turkey rests on its on its back, but I don't feel comfortable like that. And like I said, I'm no turkey! Why don't I just put one of these oranges in my mouth and I can pretend that I'm a suckling pig, instead?!!! Oink-oink!

    Fala and Winnie.

  • Good Morning Girls

Sharkey I don't blame you for not wanting to be a turkey that dog looked silly. Hey did you sample those little oranges?

Karen thank you for explaining the life of a show dog and I meant no disrespect, I'm sure you take excellent care of your dogs. I wish you and G.K. the best!

We are all ready for turkey day at my house. Mom got the table ready last night and tonight after work she is going to start baking pies - YUMMY. I hope I get to sample a few before tomorrow. I'm disappointed no little kids who drop food will be coming. I love to sit next to them while they eat I get a full meal under the table :)

I wish all my friends here at the DW a very happy Thanksgiving and for all those who travel on this day to be with family and friends be safe.

    Love Ya
    Zoe

  • Good morning,
Oh my, you girls are so funny. The oink oink thing made me think of Ransom my chow cousin who has a toy that makes weitd bird sounds. He doesn't play with it, but he sits on it a lot and everytime he does, it starts chirping and making all kinds of bird noises and he just sits there looking around to see where the noise is coming from. Goofy dog that he is. hehehehehe
I left yesterday to go back down to Maryland. Dick had an operation on his knee so I better not jump up on him till he is feeling better.
Ih, by the way, Karen commented on yesterday's blog about crates and stuff like that and I did too so if you didn't see it, you can go back and read it. GK is treated very well when he is at shows, just like I was.
Kirby, how was your trip? Did you get to see a lot of things? We missed you while you were away.
    Love ya,
    Maddox

  • Hello Ladies,
First, I must say I am sorry for getting confused on dog show stuff. I did think all dogs were left in crates a lot. Karen, I, like Zoe, meant no disrespect. But I really thank you for setting this old houseplant straight. All my blogger buddies are like family, and I wouldn't want them to not have fun in what they do. It sounds like G.K. is following in his father and grandfather's footsteps. Now, just tell me one more thing Maddox or Karen. If G.K. keeps winning, will he have a good chance of winning that big show I see on t.v. every year? Or is he too young to enter that show yet? That would be fun to see him and Karen and Jan on t.v. Well, again sorry for any confusion I had about this show business. And for you Miss Sharkey, I am so glad you didn't do the pose on the back thing. That Frenchie was sure funny on your Mama's show. Mom and I laughed our heads off. Kirby, I am so glad you are home safe and sound, and that the travels went well. I have so much to be grateful this year especially. I am doing well in regards to my health and I have great blogger buddies. I wish you all and your families a fantastic Thanksgiving. And eat lots of food for old Basil boy, since I can't have any scraps anymore.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I often lay on my back with my feet up in the air. That’s my possum pose and not a turkey pose. While away we passed by some farms and I did get to see the cows, pigs (smelly), horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats. It’s hard to tell the sheep from the goats when moving past at 55 MPH. I barked at each one at least one time. Boy barking is really hard when you don’t do it much at all. Time is short today; Daddy wants to check his e-mail. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Sorry for you turkeys but a guy’s got to do what a guy has to do. My mouth is watering already.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Oh you silly girls!
Mimi & I saw the Frenchie. hmmmm - very interesting.
More cleaning & baking at our house today. yummmm.
Hey Karen, I love my crate! I feel so warm & secure. Mimi says all their puppies have been crate trained, but you know what? If there's a pile of clothes waiting to be laundered, guess where I'll be!?! ha, ha.
    Have a thankful Thanksgiving all.
    Your Pal,
    Rebel

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., You two girls are so precious and I just love seeing these charming photos and great comments about Sharkey pretending to be a turkey because Martha joked about it on her TV Show! Franny, you were so cute trying to get Sharkey to pose as a turkey! I am still laughing and I want to give you both hugs and licks!! Neither one of you is a turkey or a pig-you are both excellent Frenchies!! Hey Maddox, sure hope Dick gets better soon! Sure hope everyone of my great Daily Wag friends has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! I love you all! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+ PS-It's still raining here and we have had about 5 to 6 inches the last few days-bet you had that much, too Cora Belle!

  • Hi everyone,
I didn't take anything as being disrespectful
I just wanted you to know that people do things
differently and my dogs comfort comes first at home
and at dog shows. Also, I wanted to explain about
shows. It can be confusing. Actually, we are on our
way to shows right now. GK will be with us for
Thanksgiving but we got a room with a kitchenette
in it so we can make a nice meal for GK and
his traveling buddies. Franny and Sharkey will have
    more turkey that way.
I want to wish each and every one of you a very
Happy Thanksgiving. Zoe, it is a shame that there will
be no kids there for you to get their food. Maybe if
you lay there and chew some toilet paper in front of
everyone they will feel sorry for you and give you food
Let us know how you make out
Love to each and every one of you.
    Karen

  • Hmmm...Sharkey + turkey = Shurkey OR turkey + Sharkey = Tarkey. Are those new sweaters in photo #3? They are very adorable on you two as usual.

Karen thank you for such a nice, thoughtful response regarding dog shows. It was interesting to hear about the routine that you and Jan use. We just know that you are a loving, responsible breeder and dog show person. Unfortunately the less loving ones can taint everyone so it's nice to hear how you do it.

I hope all of my DW blogger buddies has a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving Day and safe travels all around!

  • Hey Sharkey take it up a notch and become a Turducken! :)

    Happy Gobble Day...

  • Hi all,
As you know GK is with Karen and Jan at a dog
show but she sent me a text and asked me to
let Basil know about the show he mentioned.
That would be the Westminster Dog Show at Madison
Square Garden in New York City Basil my friend
GK would not be able to show there this February
as you had to become a champion before a certain
deadline and that passed before GK started
showing. However, he would be able to go to that
show the following year. Hey Basil, do you know
who won the breed for the Chows at that show this
year? ME!!!! Yup, I did. I tell you, the girls were all
over me that day. Waa Huu. Anyway, I hope that answers
your question. Happy Turkey Day every one
    Your buddy,
    Maddox

  • You Turkeys are funny! ;) Hope everyone had a great T-Day!
Our grandogs from Kansas were here...what a hoot! they are sooo well behaved and so beautiful..a chocolate and Blond Lab.

  • Silly Sharkey, you look funny trying to be a turkey. Raven dear, you have very good eye for decorating-- you've been paying good attention to your MarthaMom. I'm glad Miss Karen is educating everyone about dog shows. I went to them when I was very young but I didn't 'finish' (That means I can't put the CH. in front of my name.) I did very well, but it wasn't really my thing.
We had a nice Thanksgiving. My 'sister' Millie and I got to go to the dog park and watch the planes take off and land-- the dog park is near the airport and sometimes it looks like the planes are going to land right on top of where we are running around. It doesn't scare me, but Millie doesn't like it very much. Then Mom and Dad went out to have their Thanksgiving dinner and they came home with leftovers for US! But it wasn't turkey, it was goose and it was YUMMY!
