While I too have played 'stage mom' to a critter or two, I am only in support of this when the critter-to-be-outfitted is consenting to their human's antics. And as we all know- many a pooch is less than thrilled to walk the runway in costume. Needless to say, such descent should always be honored.

That said, my dear friend Faye, whose wonderful rescue work has been the topic of many a blog post, has a knack for getting her fur kids to play along with a doting mom at holiday time. So once again, I am sharing her amateur stylist efforts with my fellow Daily Waggers. I know you will appreciate Faye's commitment to fashion.

And for these rescued critters willing to shed some pride for mom's enjoyment- I know Faye's little subjects are just happy to return some of the joy that Faye has brought them by adopting them into her loving home and family.

Enjoy!
In kinship,
Dr. Pia Salk

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
And hello to you too Dr. Pia. I saw some really good costumes this Halloween. One little boy was dressed as a policeman. He had a jacket which said SWAT on the back, wore a helmet and was leading a dog. Even if his costume was good, the dog’s was better. It was dressed as a German Police dog. It was really lifelike but a smaller version of a great dog. What’s that Daddy? Oh, I see it was one of those smaller German Police dogs and didn’t have a costume on at all. My bad. Anyway, have a good day all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Dr. Pia, Thanks so much for sharing these darling photos of Faye's sweet, charming babies in their Halloween costumes! Loved seeing the STOP website and your two last year postings about Faye's delightful babies again! You are a very thoughtful person and I love how much you care about all of these terrific animals! Hope you have a great weekend and see you next Thursday! P.S. Cora Belle, you are an impressive Cattle Dog and Gail, sure glad you got your power back after 4 horrible days-burrrr! Jan

  • Hi Dr. Pia,
Great costumes. Believe it or not, some of us actually like getting dressed up. One year I was a biker and another time I was a gold winning Olympian athlete. I am sure these pups liked it too.
    See ya,
    Maddox

  • Love the pictures of Faye's adorable adoptees. I must admit, I get a giggle out of pet clothing and dressing up my cockapoo. We had a bee costume last year, but he did not consent to the hat! I saw a lot of great pics around the web.

  • Hi Dr. Pia,
We just adopted 2 puppies from the San Antonio Animal Shelter last week and we are having a blast with them. They are the sweetest little things. I was suffering from Empty Nest syndrome and now we are too busy to even think about that! If there is a bit of emptiness in your home, I think it is a great idea to get a cat or a dog at the animal shelter. Thanks!
