G.K. Takes Off

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

I get to go for many walks around the farm every day, however, those walks are usually on a leash.  I also get to sit outside, but always tied to something.  I can’t help it if I think it’s fun to run.  I suppose I should learn to run and then go right back home, but haven’t figured that out yet.

Aw, this isn't fair. The sun is out and I want to go out for a run! Instead, I'm stuck on this leash. Wait, is that Francesca and Sharkey?

Pssst...Franny! Do me a favor, will you?

Do you think you Frenchies could help me out and untie my leash?

I don't know, G.K. Every time we let you off your leash, you go bounding into the woods. We can't keep up with you on our little legs!

What do you think, Franny? Should we untie G.K.'s leash? I don't want to get in trouble...

Come on, Sharkey...If you were leashed to the porch, I'd let you free! I'm not going to run off.

All right, G.K. I can help you out, but you have to promise that you're going to hang out with us and walk around the property, right?

Maybe it would be easier for us to unhook it from here?

I can't seem to get the knot untied! Franny, can you get G.K.'s harness off?

You have so much fur, G.K.! But I think I've found the clasp.

Oh, great! G.K. just bolted! I knew this would happen, as he's still a rambunctious puppy! Hey, Princess Peony, have you seen G.K?

Ha-ha-ha! I sure pulled a fast one on the Frenchies! Walk the property, my foot. Why walk when it's so much fun to run?

Francesca? Sharkey? I guess Franny was right! Those little legs of theirs just can't keep up with the mighty Ghenghis Khan!

  • GK is this the reason why we don't see you as often as Franny and Sharkey because you need some "assistance" in staying put?
You sly little boy, using your Chow Chow puppy charm to get your sisters to free you and then you turned around and tricked them! I bet Daddy Maddox might have a word or two for you. :sshock:

  • Good Morning Girls

I hope the two of you didn't get in trouble for letting GK off his leash. Next time you both should hold the leash and take him for a walk. I must admit that when we get the opportunity to sneak out the front door we run like hell. It's a good thing we live on a dead end street or we'd be dead dogs, we run right up the middle of the street then investigate the neighbors yard and if the garage door is open I take a stroll and check things out. We get a long time out when this happens.

Another rainy day here in South Jersey and it's getting on my last nerve!! I want to lay out in the sun on my chase lounge because before you know it the snow will be here. Mother Nature - ENOUGH!!!!

  • Oh my goodness, GK!
They should let you run around in the hay field when mowing is over! A big, good looking guy like you needs to let out some steam. But, big guy, you really shouldn't bolt. How 'bout you run around the house? Round and round, that's what our grandkids like to do. I sit on the porch & wait for them to come around 'cause I have short legs like Frannie & Sharkey.
I'm soooo happy the cool air is here at last.
Hi to everyone. I'll check back in later to see how you are all doing.
    your pal,
    Rebel

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
Now the truth comes out. You can't be trusted yet off the leash G.K. You will find it much nicer to play by the rules than get time outs. Daddy Maddox will have to give you a talking to...Franny and Sharkey, don't fall for his sneaky ways again. He sure could have more blog buddies if he appeared more often and didn't run off. Oh, youth, if we only knew then what we know now!!! Have a great day.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • G.K., it is *very* uncool to get Franny and Sharkey in trouble. They did a favor for you, and you should at least refrain from behaving like a churlish chow-chow. Please apologize immediately. Thank you.

  • Well G.K. now you know why you are tied up...F & S were trying to do a good thing for you, but ended up doing something they shouldn't of had...but I understand why you want to run the grounds, maybe as you get more mature you will be more trusting, just hang in there...

Whew, the grandog Annie and grandcat Kyle finally went home, it's so good to come into the house and get warmed up. Sure is getting cold at night, almost down to the 30's and just a couple of weeks ago it was 100...

  • GK, What in the heck were you thinking? Do you realize whst a great home you have and how much Martha, Francesca, Sharkey, Uncle Carlos and all the others love you? Do you like being tied to the porch? Use your head boy! Do I have to come up there and give you a lecture? Martha should have an obedience instructor come there and teach you to sit, stay and come. Or maybe she can let you run in one of the fenced in areas when the animals are not in it. That way, you can run but you can't take off. I know chows were originally bred for hunting but you have everything you need, you don't have to go hunting. And another thing, that was not nice to trick the girls to set you free. Shame on you. Shame, shame, shame. One more thing, you look so handsome on picture #16. You are turning into quite the babe magnet, just like me. You are my boy, good or bad and I love you but try to be more good than bad, ok? Try real hard. You can do it son.
    Love you,
    Daddy Maddox
PS - Martha, I am very sorry for my son's behavior. Please do not discipline the girls for setting him free. He used his charm to get them to do that. Discipline him however you see fit. If I was in charge, I would tell Pierre to cut down the special meals from 7 a week to 6 amd 3/4 unless you think that would be too harsh.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I see GK is still learning how to be a good dog. Just one clue from me; he will always want to run and check things out. As a Chow Chow I can tell you this much, running and checking things out is part of life. I’ll be 10 years old in a few months and I still want to run and not come back until I’m ready. Running loose is just like reading a newspaper. One quick sniff and I have all the news and am ready to turn the page by moving on. When someone comes into my home I smell their shoes. By doing that I can tell where they have been. Time for a nap and some rest. Who knows when I’ll get a chance to ‘bolt’ out the front door and check out the neighborhood.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., OMG! It is so fantastic to see you again handsome G.K.! I know exactly how you feel about being able to run around and smell everything and have fun checking out the area where you live. I used to do the same thing when I was a young pup and I lived in a backyard with a kitty and nobody ever came to play with me. They only put out food and left me alone day and night. I loved to run and would probably have run away if I was able to get out of the yard. Then I got to live with my Mom and my beautiful friend Cricket. Whenever I misbehaved or started running down the driveway out to the street, my Mom and Cricket taught me how to behave and I am now a good boy. I'm sure as you mature you will learn to be a good fella, also and not run off into the woods. I'd hate to see you run into a coyote in the woods or get any ticks while you are running like crazy. I'm praying you will be a good fella as you mature. Bless you G.K.! Hope everyone has a great day today! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+ P.S. I'll bet the three of you F,S,&GK are happy that Martha is back home again!

  • GK, you are too cute, and F,S how I love your adventures. I am a black Cocker Spaniel and my sister is blonde Cocker. Our mommy keeps our hair cut short so we look alot like F and S. We love you girls and we are girls also. Unfortunatly I am blind now, but I get around our acre of land just fine, with a bump here and there. My name is Brittney and my sister is Lucy. We also have a Malti brother and his name is Buster. My sister is my seeing eye dog. Get it? She is always there to keep me from too much harm. Thanks again and keep your adventures coming.
