The Laundry Room in Maine is not Only for Laundry

Posted by F&S

Yesterday, we Frenchies blogged about a very muddy hike that we went on.  You can imagine, no one was very pleased when we returned home.  Of course, we were banished to the laundry room where we were scrubbed clean of all that nice dark mud.  Once we were spick and span, we couldn’t help but seek out new adventures.

Well, it was bound to happen! After all, we were pretty filthy after our early morning hike in the muddy woods. I see that Sharkey is getting her final rinse.

Now all we have to do is finish air-drying in this bright and sunny window in the laundry room at Skylands. Sharkey, do you smell bacon frying? We better go investigate.

Excuse me, Martha. Francesca and I are nice and clean now. I can't help noticing that you have a piece of bacon on your plate. Do you think you could arrange for a bit to fall in my direction?

Martha, that bacon sure smells divine. You know, we Frenchies really like bacon.

Psst! Martha! I'm right here, practically in your lap!

Well, that bacon business wasn't too successful. Perhaps we should take a little ride to the beach for some more exploring. We won't get muddy there. Come on, Sharkey! G.K! Pile in.

Okay Franny, we're on board. Let's roll!

Hey G.K! Bound up here on this granite ledge. From up here you get a great view of the whole beach.

This is Seal Harbor, you know and seals in this area like to rest or 'haul out' on rocks like these. Seals need to rest for up to 7 hours a day from swimming and hunting their food. If we're patient, maybe we'll see some of those resting seals.

No seals yet! We'll just keep watching. Say, G.K. - Don't you just love the way the salt air smells? It's really special. We think it's right up there in the ranks alongside bacon!

  • ..glad you frenchies are clean..but most of all the Rototiller and I are hoping all you east-coast doggies are okay and nothing bad happened at your houses during the earthquake...we live in the Pacific Northwest and thankful we have not experienced an earthquake lately..take care fellow canines!

  • Good morning everyone,
I hope you all are safe and sound after that earthquake yesterday. That was pretty scarey for a lot of people and pets. I was told that if I fall in a big hole my mamma would get AAA to get me out so I didn't mind it. Zoe, are you alright?
Dudley, how did you make out with your check up? Hope everything went well. Cora-Bell, you must be one very busy little lady, chasing all those animals around.
I just love Maine. I was there for some dog shows and we went sight seeing. It is such a pretty state.
You girls and GK must have a blast everytime you go there.
Well, it is supposed to be another nice day here so I am going to go lay outside for a while since it is nice and cool, perfect weather for a chow (till the sun comes up).
    Later everyone,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning F & S

You both wash up pretty nice :) I'm sure no one was happy to see the two of you coming home covered in mud. Sharkey that picture of you under the table is how I wait every night while mom and dad eat dinner. I stand right between my mom's legs and rest my head on the chair just praying she'll give me a little taste. Then I'll start to make strange moaning noises to see if that works but most of the time it doesn't, I get no people food :(

So let me tell you that earthquake scared the S*%# out of me yesterday. I was taking a nice snooze on the sofa and all of the sudden everything was moving! I thought the big dogs were playing a trick on me and shaking the sofa then I heard all the glasses rattle and we all started barking like crazy. Dad knew what it was right away. Poor mom was at work and started screaming for all her employees to leave the building. Thank God no one was hurt and no damaged was caused. Mom said she felt sick all afternoon like she had vertigo or something.

And I must tell all of you today is very special it's my 6th Birthday :) Basil thank you again for the beautiful collar, mom did take a picture of me with it on she just hasn't sent it to you yet. Mom is playing golf this morning with clients but then is coming home to make me a special dinner. I think there is some steak in my future.

    Zoe

  • Well you Frenchies clean up nicely! mmmmmm Bacon, Bacon...well I don't get to eat it either so I sympathize.

Interesting all that is going on world wide with the bad weather, earthquakes etc. maybe all this evil that prevails is catching up... :( God help us!

I lived in California for many years after coming to this country, so have felt many many earthquakes, then moved to Missouri, and yep within a month I felt an earthquake, moved to Wisconsin, you guessed it, an unusual earthquake...anyone want me to move to their state? Ha Ha...

so Zoe maybe confer with the animals at the Zoo they will let you know when a quake is coming....my horses and birds use to act funny just before a quake. Ha very Happy Birthday Zoe!!!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Into each life a little bath must come. You got yours yesterday and I guess I’ll get mine today. What about GK? Shouldn’t he be getting one too? I know he gets dirty even if he just takes naps and doesn’t explore like you two do. I know that dog’s don’t sweat through their skin, but every time I go outside in the heat I come back in and Mommy say’s that I feel wet. I keep telling her that it’s moisture from the air collecting on my “cool” body. If you want to see just how “cool” I am, check my pictures on Face Book (Kirby Bear).

    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
I especially loved all the photos today, but #1 and #5 are the best. Franny, you look like you are at the spa in #1 getting a facial. #5 under the table, that is me too. But I never used to get much people food, but now nothing. We are adjusting my meds again, the last couple days have been buggers. Zoe, Happy 6th birthday. If you send me a photo again I will have Mom print it and put it at eye level on the frig so I can see my friend all day. The earthquake business is bad news. The second one was here in Colorado, but down south in Trinidad, so I didn't feel it. It must have been really scarey. Mom has been working her you know what off for one of her shows in October. I'm the supervisor in her studio, reminding her to take breaks and eat. No sign of cool here. More 90 degree days through the weekend. Watch, one day 90 and the next snow in Colorado. Keep cool and safe all.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hey everyone!
First of all, you Frenchies look sooo cute in your towels. I love bacon, too. Mimi doesn't make bacon very often, darn it. So nice to see that handsome G.K., too!
To all my friends..So glad to hear you are all o.k. An earthquake sounds very unsettling.
And a big Happy Birthday to you Zoe. We are now the same age!
    Enjoy a quiet day today.
    your pal Rebel

  • I am so glad I came back to see the other comments.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZOE. 6 years of age. I just turned 4 this year. You do know that I LOVE Frenchies and I like older women. Oh La La. Just kidding with you Zoe. I hope you get all good things today, especially the steak.
    Again, Happy Birthday Girl.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., So glad to see all three of you in this fun blog post! You girls looked pretty cute after your bathes and G.K., you look so handsome again!!! I love bacon, too and once in awhile Mom gives me a little bit-yum! Maddox, thanks for asking about my Vet trip-I love my Vet so I was a good boy and did very well. Since we have so many mice, rats, squirrels, and racoons visiting all around our property, my Vet gave me a shot of leptospirosis vaccine to prevent infections from those creatures. It did make my left shoulder a bit sore and I got pretty sleepy, but today I'm back to normal. Also Maddox, the photo of G.K. in People Magazine is also on Martha's blog post-"My Birthday Weekend in Maine" in photos #11 and #32. Basil, hope you are better today-take care buddy! Happy 6th Birthday Zoe-have a great day with steak! Hope all of you on the East Coast are ok after that earthquake from Vermont. We haven't had any here in a long time. Hope every is healthy, cool, safe, and happy today and forever! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Well well well, no good mischief goes unpunished eh ladies? Like I said before, I can't imagine what MommyM's face looked like when you two came back home. I love pictures #3, 4, and 5 the most. The attempt to look innocent and be so polite while begging for food is adorably charming.

Good to see you again Mr. Model Boy GK. Happy 6th Birthday Zoe, much toilet paper for you today I hope. Glad you had a happy vet and are feeling better Dudley. Keep hanging in there Basil. Everyone on the East Coast please stay safe from earthquakes and hurricanes.

  • Happy birthday Zoe!
