From Blue to Cloudy

Posted by F&S

The other day, we Frenchies, were enjoying a clear blue sky, but as the day progressed, so did the clouds.  So, our talk turned from talking about the blue sky to talking about the clouds in the sky.

Look at that sky, Francesca! It was so clear and so azure just a little while ago.

But now, there are so many puffy white clouds!

Look at that big one over there, Sharkey. It looks like two clouds are joining together to make one.

These are cumulus clouds, Franny. Cumulus means 'pile' in Latin, which describes them well, don't you think? They're piling up and covering over that beautiful azure sky.

I read that cumulus clouds form when warm air rises and meets colder air. When the temperatures meet, it causes the air to condense, just like a cold glass collecting condensation on a hot day.

When the water droplets are small, more light passes through the cloud making the cloud appear white. But, when those droplets get larger, the clouds begin to look gray.

When those drops get big and heavy enough, they'll fall to earth as either rain, sleet, or snow, depending on the temperature outside.

Let's play that game where the clouds look like objects in the sky.

  • Good Morning F & S

What a whacky weather weekend! Saturday was sunny and beautiful and yesterday I thought I was going to have to build a boat it was raining so hard. Dad had to go drain the pool down because the water was even with the sidewalk. Mom said we got at least 4 inches if not more.

Even with the crazy weather I had a great weekend. The kids came over swimming on Saturday and mom steamed crabs. They all sat around and picked crab and had lots of laughs, it was good to see mom relaxed she's been very stressed lately. Yesterday I spent all day in the kitchen with mom and her sister's they canned tomatoes and pickles. I got to play with Nicole and Abbie it was so much fun. I did upset Nicole when I chewed her Barbie doll, I thought that was part of the game ;)

It looks like rain again today so I think I'll just relax with Dad. Mom is leaving early for work and the sky is getting very dark. I'd better warn
T-Bone that the thunder is coming.

  • Good morning girls,
I was sad when I saw you were stung by a bee Sharkey but I hope you are all better by now. Zoe is such a funny dog. I just laugh and laugh when I read her comments. I can just picture her chewing the head or some other body parts off of the Barbie Doll. We went to a dog show over the weekend to watch my half brother. He did very well. He won both days. I miss being in shows. All the judges tell you how wonderful you look and how much they love your fur and your handler gives you really good treats too. I am talking filet mignon. Yummy. It was good to see the dogs I used to compete against and their owners. Me and Rhyder got to get our pictures taken for an advertisement and then we went to visit the vendors to stock up on what else, shampoo. Can't get away from those baths.
Hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoy the day.

  • Hello Ladies,
That sure does look like fun playing that game with the clouds. It was sunny, hot, and dry all weekend here. We sure could take some of that rain Zoe is getting. As for me, I had a terrible day yesterday. Remind me guys, when I start to be a brat on food to snap to. One of my meds was stopped on Friday and whamo, with the change in my diet and that, it was pukefest yesterday. Mom will be in contact with Dr. Westfall today, but I am back to everything before I was a brat last week and wouldn't eat. Now I am starting to understand this Crohn's Disease thing. Boy, you really can't change stuff or whamo back to pukefest. Mom told me, I just thought I knew more than her. Right before retirement they switched Dad's job, and he isn't a CAD engineer, but out in the field pipefitting. We are just happy he has work. But we are getting up an hour earlier as he is working 10 hour days. It is not hard for me and Mom as I have been getting her up earlier anyway, but Dad is a tired Dad. Just glad for work. Soon he will be home in October and retired and oh the fun will begin. Send some rain to Colorado guys.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hey everyone!
I was cloud watching, too. We had quite a windy storm. Mimi & Papa put the potted plants in the garage 'cause they heard there may be golf ball sized hail. Papa knows all about golf balls! We got rain, but not as much as Zoe. Our storm went over to Indianapolis and hurt a lot of people real bad.
Eli is visiting us for a couple of days before school starts. He brought his sock monkey, I thought it was a toy. I almost grabbed it, but Eli said "Not for you Mr. Rebel boy". How did that Barbie doll taste Zoe?
Maddox, will we be able to see your picture?
    Have a good day
    Rebel

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I wonder why all of those cloud shapes reminded you of food? I’ll bet that you two were out playing so much you almost missed a your meal. I was enjoying your pictures until I saw “the cat” picture. That cat not doing anything needs a good run and I could give a good run. I’m glad that Basil is doing better. As for Zoe, well what could anyone say about her? I had better make it something good; she doesn’t like ugly and would chew my ear’s off. Mommy and Daddy will be away again for most of the day. I’ll be here guarding the door most of the time. Sometimes I sleep on their bed but don’t you tell them I do.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Oh I love #12 photo, soooo sweet! :)

I also love clouds and take many photos of them. One in particular that I took is on my business card...its of a cloud shaped like a winged Pegasus, this image has also been used on cards for a store.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Hey, G.K., where the heck are you? Have't seen you for quite a while and I miss seeing you, my handsome friend! You two girls look so cute in these photos and the sky looks interesting with the cumulus clouds partly covering the beautiful blue sky!! We have a lot of clouds here, but those beautiful fluffy clouds only seem to show up when it gets above the 80s here which is not very often. I love how you describe those clouds and the next time I see any I will try to see what they look like, too. Was that Vivaldi in the last photo? He looks handsome, too! Sounds like all of you friends had interesting weekends-sure hope you all have a good week coming up! Basil, sure glad you are accepting the way things are and my prayers continue! Best wishes to all of you! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • What sweet photos these are especially of the two of you sitting on the wall. I can imagine MommyM walking by and asking you two what you are up to. You convince her to take a time out of her busy day and cloud watch with you. All you need is GK and you have a wonderful day together.

Basil, please tell your alter ego Guido to make mischief elsewhere, you have a regiment to stick to.

  • ..cloud watching sounds like fun..we have been watching the neighbors across the river log...and hoping a displaced squirrel might swim the river. Basil, buddy, no fun being under the weather I take enough meds to float a battleship! the only good part is all the extra attention I get!..Maddox, we just bathe in the river..and the otters and raccoons laugh at us..imagine if we had shampoo! later all you dog buddies!
