Horseback Riding With Martha

Posted by Sharkey

Hey, everybody!  I’m back and feeling fine.  I just had a nasty bug bite, which is better now.  Yikes!  I hope everyone is staying calm and cool.  This heat is terrible!  Well, I was lounging around the other day, wondering what I could do for amusement, and then Martha and Betsy came riding by on horses.  Guess what?

It's another lazy, hazy, summer day here at the farm. I wish there was something fun to do that doesn't require too much effort.

Oh, look! Here comes Martha and Betsy riding Rutger and Rinze. What are my chances?

Ahem! Excuse me Martha. I know that you're all set to go off for a ride, but did you know that I've never been horseback riding? May I please come with you? Please?

Oh, poor neglected Sharkey! You never expressed interest before.

Of course I'll take you for a ride! Jump on up!

Hold on to me tightly, Martha! I didn't realize how high it is up here.

But once you get use to it, it's pretty nice! I feel on top of the world!

OK, Martha - Where are we headed?

Well, Sharkey, let's go explore the beautiful trails of the Bedford Riding Lanes Association, that historic system of trails and dirt roads which extend and connect more than 100 linear miles of trails in the Bedford and Pound Ridge areas.

  • Good morning Sharkey,
Glad to hear that you are better. Bug bites can be nasty indeed. I bet you were so high on the horse that if you looked down and saw Francesca she would look like an ant. hehehehe
Well, today I leave for Maryland. I have two other chow relatives there, Harley and Rhyder that I play with. I have fun at both of my houses. Mom said she will miss me very much when I am gone but I will be back soon and I can send her pictures and text her with my I Phone.
To my extended family, which is you, stay kool, relax, chill out till the heat wave is over and enjoy the weekend.
    Love ya,
    Maddox

  • Good Morning Sharkey - so happy to hear the nasty bug bite is all gone. WOW horseback riding with Martha that must have been fun. I'd be a little scared being up so high. Franny no riding for you that day?

Is this heat a killer or what? Mom said it's suppose to be like this all weekend. I guess I'll be indoors until the sun goes down. The one thing I do like about the heat mom won't play golf when it's like this so she'll be home with me all weekend :)

Mom wasn't too happy with me last night I couldn't resist the toilet paper. I've been good for a few weeks and when I saw the bathroom door open the roll was just calling my name. It was a brand new roll so there was lots to pull through the house. Then as an added treat I chewed up a bunch ;) She got over it fast and by the end of the night I got lots of kisses, good thing I'm cute.

Have a great weekend everyone, stay cool and safe.

  • It's good to see you doing well dear Sharkey....and to go riding with mommie Martha!! you lucky, lucky dog...wish it was me!

I woke up early this morning because the room was filled with orange light, very unusual...outside the sky was an odd orange(probably the sunrise reflecting in the sky)a storm is coming in, I can hear the thunder...hope to remember this orange hue to be able to capture it in a small painting. I'm glad I got up to see this...right now it turned so dark that I had to turn on the lights, wow!

Zoe, my hubby was off for a three day golfing trip up northern Wisconsin, but had to come home early because of the heat & humidity, just too dangerous for golfing.

  • Hello Sharkey Girl,
Glad that old bug bite didn't get you down too long. And now to go horseback riding---what a treat. I think Mama Martha missed her Sharkey girl. That must be fun to be up so high on the horse. That is why I like being on the back of the couch (with my own special blankie, I might add) and keeping watch over my territory. When I was sick I couldn't even jump on the couch, let alone jump to the top. Now I am "king of the world" again. Being up on top has it's advantages. Have a great weekend all and try to stay cool.
    Love & licks,
    Basil
P.S. Maddox, try to keep us posted on your adventures in your summer home. I will miss you!!

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., I am so happy to see that you are healthy again my sweet little Sharkey! Sure hope those bugs NEVER bite any of you ever again! You look so cute in these photos and I would love to be there to give you a big hug! OMG! How fun it must have been to ride on Rutger with your wonderful Mom, Martha! You look so happy and so did Martha!! That sure is a long trail you were riding on-did you go 100 miles?! That would take a long time, if you did! Sure hope everybody stays healthy, cool, and happy all weekend! Love. Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hi Sharkey-girl! Glad you're looking good! I know GK and Franny missed you up in Maine, but it looks like you got a great trade riding up high with Martha! We stay cool down here by not going out on the golf course to run until 7 pm!
    Later, girls.

  • Hey there Sharkey Girl!
Happy to see you up and around! You and Martha look so happy. Mimi says she'd be happy, too. She used to have a horse when she was a girl. Her name was Penny because in the summer she would get like a copper penny. It's been pretty quiet here cause of the heat and all. I helped Mimi water flowers yesterday, but I had to go in before she was finished. I was tooooo hot!
Zoe...Sounds like fun to me. I really like kleenex.
    Great weekend to all!
    Rebel

  • Sweet Sharkey it's good to see you up and about healthy again. I hate it when anyone of you or our blogger buddies is not feeling well. You look good sitting up there with MommyM. Now Franny has to get her horseback ride in as well. You do look adorable in that first picture.

Everyone have a safe, fun weekend. Maddox have fun with your other family.

  • ..wow! what a lucky little dog!! horseback riding!!
