In Search of Color on a Cloudy Day

Posted by F&S

We, Frenchies, were outside the other day, feeling as bleak as the weather.  The sky was gray and the world seemed the same.  However, our moods lifted when we decided to go out and explore.  It seems you just have to look on the bright side.

Once again, it's gray and dreary at the farm and not a patch of blue and very little color in sight!

Well, Sharkey, instead of moping, why don't we take a walk and see what we can see?

Alright Franny - I suppose that will be better than sitting here feeling sorry for ourselves.

Hey, Franny and Sharkey! I've been out walking and found some interesting things down towards the stable.

GK was right! I didn't know we had late-blooming azaleas! They're such a beautiful shade of red!

What's that Rufus? You think that Rinze knows of more color to be found?

Bahhhh! We, sheep like the cloud cover because our dark fleece soaks up the sun and makes us hot! However, head to the chickens if you want to spot more color.

So, things really aren't so bleak after all. Brightness can be found even when the sky is gray.

  • Good Morning F & S

I'm ready for some sunshine, I'm tired of the clouds but like you I have some pretty flowers blooming all around the yard.

I'm so sad this morning reading about our friend Basil. Basil I'm praying for you and I hope you feel better real soon. Basil's mom I wish I had your address I'd send him a get well card with my picture on it, that would make him feel better :) Wish there was a way to secret message our blogger buddies so I could get your address ???

So Sunday is Father's Day. Mom plans on making dad a big lobster, that was his request for dinner. She is playing golf both days which I'm not happy about but she worked hard all week I guess she is allowed to have some fun and not just hang out with me all day. I think I'll behave and let dad relax on Sunday, maybe just sit on his lap and watch golf with him - he'll like that.

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's!! Enjoy your weekend - be safe.

  • Good morning everybody,
It is true, there is beauty everywhere, you just have to look. It is so great that you have friends to talk to.
We had a beautiful sunset yesterday. The clouds were orange and the sky was a beautiful blue. Some bad baby rabbit bit one of Mimi's gerbera daisy. She is hoping to get a new one today along with some deer repellant.
Mimi and I are really anxious to know how our friend Basil is doing. We'll get in later. To Lynn, it is so hard to be brave sometimes. Be strong.

  • Oh my goodness, I can't stop crying. Karen here, Maddox's mom. I was so sad when Maddox told me about Basil. Reading these posts everyday, you feel you know these dogs and you get a soft spot in your heart for them even though they are not yours. Lynn, I hope with all my heart that Basil makes a full recovery. Please tell Basil that Maddox wants his blogger buddy to get better too.
I wish they would have a place on this site for some kind of a profile for the ones that would like to share their email address, etc. with the others that post because as Zoe said, it would be nice to send cards to Basil and his family to show them we all care about Basil. Get Better Basil..........

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Boy did a big storm blow through here. Mommy and Daddy spent time outside yesterday picking up tree limbs; they should finish today. There are still about 8 thousand people in our area with electricity. Our power didn’t go off because the wires are underground where we live. More storms may be here this weekend. Had the “lampshade” on again last night. I don’t like it but my “hotspots” are getting better when I leave them alone. I hope all have a safe weekend. Happy Father’s Day all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • "I get by with a little help from my friends..." should be your theme song today F, S, & GK. So nice that your farm buddies helped you find some color to wash away the gray.

Oh Basil and Lynn I am so sorry to hear that you're not doing well. You're such a strong little guy who doesn't deserve to go through this. I'm praying and keeping good thoughts for you and your family so that you pull through and make a full recovery. It warms my heart that your Mom and Dad love you so much that they will do anything for you to keep you happy and well. I too wish there was a way to opt in with contact info so we could contact each other.

Kirby Bear, I'm glad to hear that your hot spots are doing better. You just have to be a big boy and leave them alone so you get well. Everyone please have a fun and safe weekend and Happy Dad's Day to all the dads out there.

  • What a perfect blog for today.

Just what I needed. I've been having very gloomy days and needed a pick me up.

Your blog and seeing the 'donks' did pick me up!

    Thank you so much!

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.& all Basil and my Daily Wag buddies,
This is Basil's Mom, Lynn again. He is committed that he will be back to you himself on Monday. He just wanted to get word to you all as to his condition. He is now home and resting comfortably. No more throwing up blood. A berium test was done on his esophagus and there is no permanent damage, however, he has esophagitis which means his esophagus is inflamed. This is caused from years of his immune disorder etc. and related problems. I am sure he will tell you more in detail of his new meds and how he now has to eat 3 tiny little meatballs by hand every 3 hours and 1/4 of water every hour. I do so thank you all for your love and support. He is my little guy I love clear up to God. He seems much happier now that the docs have him on a new routine of things. Hopefully in a couple weeks he will be himself again.I wish there was a way to get a hand made thank you card to each and every one of you from Basil and I, but know if we had your addresses we would send you one. He wanted to send you all a card at Christmas with his photo. F & S, help Mama Martha to come up with a way we can do this. Thanks again to all of you. You are the best friends a Basil Boy and his Mom, Lynn could have.
    Hugs,
    Lynn
