Exploring Bar Harbor
Posted by Francesca
On Martha’s blog today, she posted a lot of beautiful photos of planting the giant urns on the Skylands terrace. When the work was complete, Uncle Carlos suggested a drive to Bar Harbor so that Ryan could see some of the local flavor. It’s always a fun town to visit.
Uncle Carlos! What a fabulous idea! Let's go on an adventure in Bar Harbor.
I'll sit up front with Ryan and Sharkey and GK can take the back.
Ryan, since you're from Los Angeles, I'll tell you that Bar Harbor is about a 20 minute drive from Skylands and it's a famous summer colony in the Down East region of Maine.
We're driving along Otter Creek Road and the views are very scenic, even in this fog. That pond is called The Tarn.
Here we are in Bar Harbor. It's a really fun place to explore. There are plenty of restaurants and shops.
Now what in the world are all of these things?
Hmmm, they look like cages or traps of some sort.
Francesca, be careful! Those traps are big enough to catch Frenchies!
Silly Sharkey, remember the lobsters Pierre cooked last night? Well, these cages smell just like those crustaceans. This is Stewman's Lobster Pound and these are lobster traps.
Stewman's Lobster Pound is decorated with colorful lobster trap markers. I've seen them bobbing in the ocean when we are out in Martha's Picnic Boat.
GK, what are you doing?
It looks like the table has turned and it's you who's been eaten by a giant a lobster!!!
Let's move on and do a little window shopping.
Would you just look at all of those frogs? Somebody is sure frog crazy!
Come on, Sharkey. I think I remember seeing a really interesting shop this way.
You're right, Franny. It's a pet store. However, I don't think that Martha would approve of what this dog is wearing. After all, Martha is a Yankees fan.
