Eating Maine Lobster

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

As you know from reading this blog, we dogs were recently at Skylands, our home in Maine.  We were so busy and had such a great time.  Chef Pierre cooked amazing food all weekend, including a lobster dinner.

That is one giant pot. Why, it's big enough to cook a small dog. Watch out Francesca and Sharkey!

Whew! I'm relieved to see that Pierre is using it to cook Maine lobsters!

Those lobsters look amazing! And they smell so briny.

All plated and ready to eat!

I know there are a few tricks to eating a lobster. You have to know how to get the tender meat out of that hard shell.

What's that? Eating lobster is messy?

Problem solved! A lobster bib. I'm good to go!

Franny, thanks for the tip about cracking the shell. Now toot-a-loo! The lobster is mine!

  • GK,
Remember me? Dear old Dad! Well, dad loves lobster too. Yummmm Yummmm. That was very nice of Martha to share the lobster with you,Franny and Sharkey. I hope Pierre put some dog treats on top for the three of you. I missed Ms. Pia's post yesterday. I got up very early and she hadn't posted yet so I went back and read it today. Very useful information. She is so smart. Today is going to be a beautiful day to lay outside. Enjoy it while you can.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’ll have some too but make mine with extra butter on it. It will be another hot day again today. I did see some flashes in the sky last night but no rain. If it’s still spring; just how hot will it be when summer comes? The weekend is almost here; everyone be safe out there. When I was walking this morning a car went by doing about 50 mile per hour. The speed limit is 25 where I was. What are people thinking; guess they aren’t thinking at all. Saw a woman driving with a cell phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Now what was she using to steer the car?????
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
I, like Maddox missed blogging yesterday--it was Mom's fault, as I was really busy with her getting her orders ready for delivery today. I did read things Dr. Pia, and although I am late, I am very appreciative for your expert advice. I don't handle the heat very well at all. I can't imagine being Maddox, Kirby or Mrs Bosley Chow Chow (where are you?) with all that fur. I can appreciate your love of lobster!! I love all seafood. Skylands must be a lot of fun. You guys sure do live the life!!! You have the farm and animals and many homes. I do good with just one--it is all this old man can handle. I noticed a few of my garden plantings coming up. Oh, to taste a fresh garden veggies will be a delight. Also, congrats on your Aunt Alexis's article in People. I will have Mom pick up a copy when she is out on deliveries today. Have a fun weekend all!!
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., OMG! This is not only a beautiful blog post, but is really fun, also!! These photos are wonderful! I've never seen such a huge pot to cook lobsters in! My favorite photo is the one with G.K. wearing that neat lobster bib! Wow, you look so happy! I've never had lobster before so would love to try it! Hey Kirby, we have drivers who speed down our road, also. Sure want them to slow down because if an animal was on the road they sure could get hurt. Hope everyone has a safe, warm, dry weekend! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+
