Arriving at Skylands

Posted by F&S

Yesterday, we blogged about driving to Maine with Uncle Carlos and a trailer load of plants.  We dogs had a great time in the car, listening to Carlos’s favorite music, Los Melodicos, and the hours seemed to fly by.  After stretching a bit and tending to some doggy business, we had to unload the trailer and it was great to have so much help.

I always love breathing in the pristine air and looking out into the lush forest. It's so refreshing here!

I see the fog has rolled in form the ocean. This is the gorgeous terrace which will be planted with all of the pots we brought from Bedford. Time to unload the trailer!

G.K. - Don't run off anywhere! We'll need every man and animal on deck for the unloading project.

And there's Carlos stretching his legs after that long drive. Carlos, I'm still hearing your Latin music in my head.

  • Good Morning F & S

Glad to see that you arrived safely. Listen, mom and I can make a road trip - why don't you schedule a play date at Skylands with your Blogger Buddies!! We'd have a ball running through the woods and the chef can prepare us some yummy dog treats - sounds like a plan if you as me :)

Basil tell me the truth isn't eating dirt the best? I love the organic potting soil myself. Mom had to fill all the planters on the deck - AGAIN - and now she put some deer netting around the bottom. I'll get that off as soon as she turns her head ;)

I'm staying indoors today we're expecting another hot and humid day BUT I'm not complaining after that long cold winter.

  • Hi Everyone,
Zoe, you must get up very early. You are usually the first one to post a comment nearly every day. You are quite the busy girl.
I am so glad that GK is helping his little sisters with the workload. They are very energetic workers but some of those plants are heavy. I guess I will go lay out in the grass for a while this morning before it gets hot. Imagine walking around with a heavy fur coat on in this heat. I was thinking of getting it clipped for the summer but my coat is what draws the ladies to me and I wouldn't want to lose my fan base. hehehehe Stay cool......

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I have been busy too helping my Mommy and Daddy plant in the front yard. It’s getting too hot to plant anymore now so we’ll wait until the fall to finish the upper side of the walk. Things look great now if I do say so myself. Work really does seem to go better when you have help. All the activity out front seems to have attracted a “bunney.” I get to chase him, or is it her, off when Mommy and I go for the morning paper. A few barks from me and the whole neighborhood is up. Sorry folks but a dog’s got to do what a dog has to do.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
It looks as though you all had a great trip with Uncle Carlos and are rested and ready for good times. Glad you all help unload. G.K., you look like you are the supervisor, and I see your blue tongue. That is really cool. Most of us have to eat a blue popscicle to get the blue tongue--you are very unique. I remember Kirby telling me all about the blue tongues of the chows. I think it is most fascinating. You are quite the blue bloods. LOL!! Well, Mom has to get to work on her card business--all this garden playing has her behind. I will just relax--allergies are terrible now.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Glad to see that you three and Uncle Carlos got there safely. Skylands looks so beautiful. It's just begging the three of you to go romping through its woods.

Francesca, you look like a Queen who is surveying her empire. Sharkey, get your PR person in line so photos of you about to 'take care of business' don't wind up surfacing. GK, that photo of you in picture # 4 should be your publicity photo you look so adorable.

  • Skylands is so beautiful...you all are so Blessed.
I know why Carlos got there early, just listing to that fast Latin beat music makes you drive a bit faster ;)

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Thank you so much for sharing this delightful blog post about your latest trip to Martha's beautiful home at Skylands! All of these photos are terrific and show that all three of you had a wonderful time last weekend! Sure would love to be there with you so we could have fun going all through the woods together. G.K., you look so handsome just like your Dad, Maddox and Greatgrand Dad, Paw Paw!!! F.&S., you look absolutely adorable!! Can't wait to see the planting procedure on your next blog post. Have a great day everyone! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hey everyone!
Glad you made it to Skylands in one piece (was there ever a doubt?). My Mimi is buying flowers today. Lots of work at our house. I have to watch out for rabbits & squirrels. It a little cooler today and the humidty is lower, so lots of outside time for Mimi & me today. Hey, Zoe, you are an early riser friend. I like your idea for the blogging buddies play date at Skylands. Dream on.........
    Lovin' G.K.s blue tongue.
    Great day to all! Rebel

  • Glad that you had such a wonderful ride! All your plants sure are pretty!

It has been pouring and hailing here in Oregon!

    Welcome June!

    woo woos, Tessa
