A Grilling Party at the Farm

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

We had a lot of commotion recently at the farm.  Martha was involved with filming her very first grilling special called Grilling Secrets of the Master Chefs, premiering tonight, June 24th at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel.  There was a big party where the guests got to eat all of the delicious food and, of course, we dogs, took part in the festivities.

Excuse me, sir. I'm happy to see that you're enjoying yourself sitting on a Martha Stewart quilt from Macy's, but would you mind telling me where you got all of that delicious looking and smelling grilled food?

Yes, people, do tell. Grilled foods are so yummy - especially grilled squirrel! You don't like grilled squirrel? Oh well, to each his own!

You know, you can pet me all you want, but would you please just tell us where the food is?

No one is being very helpful here. I'll just close my eyes and try to visualize the location.

Hey, wait! My keen chow sense of smell may be onto something!

Hello, Emeril and welcome to our farm. I know that you must be grilling something quite extraordinary and I think I'll just hang out here and hope I get lucky.

  • Let me give the 3 of you a tip when searching for food - FOLLOW THE KIDS!! First, their dishes are lower to the ground, second they always seem to drop something. Kids sitting in a highchair or booster seat are the best, they love to drop stuff over the side. And - they love to feed dogs. Those kids don't care what it is they love to feed the dogs. I'm licking my lips right now just thinking about the big 4th of July party that will be at our house soon - lots of kids = lots of people food :)

Well we have another morning where you open the back door and it feels like soup outside - this humidity just sucks - where are my nice sunny days with a light breeze blowing my big french ears? I'm hoping we get a nice weekend, mom is not playing golf. She'll be home most of the time she has a party and a baby shower to attend but we get her the rest of the time :)

Enjoy your weekend everyone - Basil I hope you are feeling better I'm sending frenchie kisses your way :)

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Oh boy, food; one of my favorite subjects. I’ve never tried grilled squirrel but it does sound good. If I ever catch one I’ll ask my Daddy to fire up the grill. The weekend is almost here. I don’t have anything planned; I just play it “by ear” as they say. I’ll bet that is hard for some dogs because their ear’s aren’t very big at all and don’t move like mine do. It’s been so hot in the mornings that I haven’t been taking my walks. Must stay cool so the “hot spots” will go away.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hey GK.
Go for the strip steaks. I got steak for a treat when I was showing. Yummy... To get food from the people just stand there and stare at them. You are a handsome boy, as is your father, me, and the people will take one look at you and just melt and give you anything you want. Try it, works every time. hehehe
Supposed to rain all weekend here. Not much going on. Hey Basil, tell your mamma to grill your meatballs, they might taste better. Kirby, I hope your hot spots go away quickly. Everyone, enjoy the weekend and talk to you again on Monday.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
Boy oh boy does this bbq special look good. You all look like you are having such a great time. I long for when I can be normal again. I am still at 4 little meatballs of special low residue dog food every 3 hours and 1/4 cup water every hour. I am on this awful medication that tastes like caulk and has to go in with a special thing in my mouth. Mom talked to the doctor yesterday and he is VERY worried that I am not getting better. He wants to do an endoscopy on my esophagus and stomach. I have lost a lot of weight. Mom calls me her little thin man. We are all pretty scared about what is ahead. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers for the days ahead.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • I like the food strategy F, S, and GK, overload the guests with cuteness so that they will melt and give you anything you want. How I would love to come visit you on your beautiful farm. You all have such wonderful space to romp and play. Give MommyM hugs and kisses for loving you all so much.

Basil you brought tears to my eyes reading your post. I am praying for you big boy that you get lots of rest and feel better over the weekend. Kirby Bear that's the smart thing to do so that your hot spots go away.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and please keep Basil and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the Masters Grilling show GK, I would have missed it!

Sharkey thank you for tellin me bout the quilt! I will be sure to tell my Mom!

I agree with you GK the best place to stand at a BBQ is under or near it so that the items that fall are cleaned up quickly by me!
