Driving With Uncle Carlos to Maine

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

Last Friday, Uncle Carlos was driving a load of plants up to Skylands, our home in Maine.  We absolutely love being with him and asked Martha if we could travel with him, instead of traveling with her.  She didn’t seem to mind.

Now that the trailer is all packed, it's time to hit the road!

We could have traveled with Martha, but we like driving with Uncle Carlos. He has great taste in music.

Los Melodicos - La orquesta que impone el ritmo - They have 4 saxophones, 3 trombones, trumpets, piano, bass, drums and percussion, plus 4 Singers! That's about 20 artists on stage!

Franny, I'm told that they're THE MOST COMPLETE Orchestra in all of Latin America! They also have over 100 albums! Can you believe it?

I Googled the orchestra and found out Los Melódicos is from Venezuela and they've been around for more than 50 years. That's 350 dog years!

Carlos, let me help you with that CD! We can't wait any longer to get our groove on!

OMG, this is such good music! Little wonder Carlos has been a fan of Los Melódicos since he was a little boy in Columbia.

I should really start my own band, you know. Los Chow Chows, has a good ring. I do play a mean trom BONE!

And we're off to Maine! A loaded trailer, a full tank of gas, and enough Los Melodicos to get us through four states!

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
It looks like you three were headed for some fun times. I think G.K. is right--a band for all seasons. Maybe you could call it G.K. and The Frenchies A Go Go. I bet not only did Uncle Carlos have the music, but he probably had very good treats for the road packed by Mama Martha for all of you. Can't wait to hear of the exploits in Maine.

As for me, I will be doing a lot of snoozing today, as I have been a gardeningaholic for the past three days. I know Zoe, you usually have the market cornered on time outs because of toilet paper, but I set a new record for myself with dirt. Yes, garden dirt is the tastiest, and the one that gets a boy in the most trouble for eating it. Mom was really upset with me. I had to do a time out--sunbathing LOL!!!!
Our garden is planted and we are all in need of the spa. Hope everyone else had a great weekend and didn't get into too much trouble.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Uncle Carlos is a very lucky man that you three chose to drive with him instead of flying with MommyM to Maine. Reading your mom's blog was almost tiring. That's some monster production of activity all for just a weekend.

Say GK will this band be more of a solo project or will you include Franny & Sharkey too? I hope some of our longtime blogger buddies like Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow, Gracyn Erwin are doing alright. We haven't heard from them in awhile.

  • Hysterical!

  • Good Morning Girls and G.K.

Good choice driving with Uncle Carlos instead of Martha you get to sit in the front seat and listen to great tunes :) Looks like you'll be pretty busy with that trailer full of plants.

I had a great weekend. Mom was off from work all week and I got to spends lots of time with her. Yesterday she took me swimming, I'm not a big fan of the pool but it sure felt good. Those silly Labs were inside with dad where it was nice and cool but I decided to stay out doors with mom and enjoy the sunshine. My squirt bottle got a workout, boy was it hot.

Today mom heads back to work so I think I'll just catch up on my beauty rest.

  • Hey son,
Glad you got to go to Maine again. Martha has a beautiful house there with very scenic views. I love Maine also. And Uncle Carlos is a very responsible driver and a real nice person so you had a good ride with him. Your taste in music must come from your mother as I am a rock and roll kind of guy. But, you do get the babe magnet qualities from me. What can I say, I am Hotstuff.
Glad everyone had a good weekend except for the time out incident for Basil. hehehehe

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well the weekend is over and now things will be getting back to normal. That means that I will get my naps on time. There’s too much going on around here to get in a good nap on those long weekends. If you start a band GK, I would sure like to have a spot. What do I play you ask? Well I play catch, chase, fetch, and I sometimes play with the cute little neighbor dog. Keep me in mind if you start a band; I kind of like Chinese Music myself. Wow, it’s nap time already.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • NOW were talking my language in Music Uncle Carlos! Well Francesca and Sharkey I would always drive with Uncle Carlos if he plays this cool music. I love Latin music and my P.R. husband has many CD's especially Merengue. Matter of fact I'm going out and buying this CD "Los Melodicos - La orquesta que impone el ritmo" for Father's Day for my hubby...I just listened to it on YouTube...Thanks for sharing!

Carlos, one of my favorite CD's from Venezuela is http://www.squidoo.com/El-poderoso-de-Israel

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., OMG! The 3 of you and Uncle Carlos must have had a terrific time traveling to Skylands this past weekend and once you all got there, you must have had a blast!!!! How fun the trip must have been, especially listening to Uncle Carlos' fabulous music! Hey G.K., can't wait to hear your new band Los Chow Chow, with you playing that trom Bone! What will the girls play?! You are such lucky dogs who have a wonderful Mom, Martha who lets you travel with Uncle Carlos and do many fabulous things! Hope everyone continues having another wonderful day! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.
You all look so comfortable in the truck with Uncle Carlos. I too would love to Cha-Cha-Cha with you all. Hey G.K. how about a new dance? The chow-chow-cha-cha with the girls "singing" back up. Enjoy the great Maine weather. The grandkids wore me out yesterday......so siesta time for me!
    Adios,
    Rebel

  • Basil, so does the garden dirt eating mean that Guido made a house call for the weekend?
