Stormy Skies in Bedford

Posted by Sharkey

It was all over the local news yesterday morning that severe thunderstorms were moving through the area.  Where I don’t mind the rain so much, I have to admit that thunderstorms scare me.  Looking out the door, I noticed that it was getting really dark and Francesca and I took a peek from the covered porch.  Fortunately, there wasn’t any thunder and lightening and it passed by very quickly.

Oh, my, Francesca! I am not liking what I am seeing!

This must be what they call a 'front' on the Weather Channel, which is a boundary separating two masses of air of different densities.

Franny, the air masses separated by a front usually differ in temperature and humidity. Don't you feel it getting suddenly colder and damper?

It's moving very quickly towards the woods where the guys have been busy clearing. I hope they have taken cover!

And what about our pals the donks and horses?

From the looks of things, the paddocks are empty, so they must all be safe in their stalls.

Here comes the rain! I see the first drops falling.

I remember hearing on the Weather Channel that cold fronts generally move from west to east and that's the direction that this one is going.

It's certainly getting very dark for the morning. I hope our plans for outdoor fun aren't shot.

But wait! Just as quickly as it came, the front has blown right past us!

It's starting to brighten up again so I guess we can still play outside.

  • "Don't know why there's no sun in the sky, stormy weather..." Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel has nothing on the two of you.

I think your next adventure should be creating Doggie Weather Channel updates. GK can be the pup-on-the-street doing remotes.

  • Good Morning F & S
I was scared yesterday too we had really strong winds and rain come through our area but if left by early afternoon. Thank goodness there was no thunder because T-Bone gets all freaked out and mom wasn't home to give him hugs until it passed, he is such a wuss.

I hope the sun comes out today I feel like taking a nap out on my chase lounge. The property looks so pretty the landscapers finished all the mulch and the flowers are all blooming - just beautiful. Now if the weather cooperates I'll be in good shape today.

  • I am glad you girls didn't get the bad storm. Thunder is very loud and sometimes it scares some of us. Not me though, I am very brave. However, Cyrus gets very upset when it thunders. He was in the fire/explosion at my mom's place a couple years ago and ever since then he can't stand loud noises. Poor guy. Bit the sun is shining right now so it will be a good day for him.

  • F&S, you are impressive amateur meteorologists! Why don't you have some fun and con Bartok into being a weather vane on the roof of the paddock? You could watch him spin when the wind blows! See his little kitty hair fly! Oooh! What feline fun!

  • Hello Ladies,
Stormy weather...I can hear the tune in my head also, Sonya. Glad it passed so quickly for you both and no hail damage. Dad planted cold weather stuff over the weekend, so the rain we are supposed to get this p.m. should be nice. Franny you look quite well, just don't overdue. I am adjusting to some new meds for my health issues and ear drops. Yuk!! But it seems to help.Have a great Wednesday.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Sounds like this was our storm from he other day...glad all is OK and you guys got to see the front come and go...got to admit it can look pretty and ugly at the same time...OK that's the artist in me talking!

I use too whistle for the horses out in pasture...the gates open, all stall doors open, then all of the horses and one pony would run into their respective stalls...standing in a corner very quietly listening for the thunder storm to pass. I was always happy they did that, guess they knew I would bring them to safety.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., WOW! Your stormy weather looks just like ours did yesterday and it rained on and off all day long. It's been that way for quite a while and today we are supposed to get some thunderstorms. I sure wish it would warm up and dry off. It may do that on this Friday-sure hope so. You two Frenchies sure are thoughtful when worring about the donkeys, horses, and your crew friends. I love the way that you are so close to each other there on the porch. You must have been cold when not wearing your jackets. Sure hope everyone has a great, warm, sunny day! Say Hi to G.K. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Storms I'll say. It rained all night here in the mountains and the Little Piegeon River was really up during the night. We are parked right beside the river and it almost came out of it's bank. Daddy said that he would move our trailer if it did get out of the it's banks. Thankfully it didn't and now it's going down slowly. Well we're off agin today. Makes my little legs tired form all the walking. I get plenty of naps anyway.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hey how about a new gig for F & S: Storm Chasers!:)

The donks are smart, they hunkered down just in case!
