Showing G.K. Some Flowers

Posted by F&S

We, Frenchies are so very happy that spring has finally arrived.  Pretty flowers are beginning to bloom all over the farm.  We decided to take G.K. around and show him some of our favorite areas and it turns out that he has a real appreciation for flowers.

Sharkey, it looks like G.K. is sniffing some springtime blooms.

Yes, he certainly seems to be sniffing intently!

He has good taste! I, too, love these bright yellow crocus blooms.

And just like that, G.K. is off! That boy is certainly curious. Franny, let's show him around a bit.

Look! The burlap has finally been removed from these boxwood hedges.

G.K. - It's always a good idea to inspect closely beneath these hedges for varmints, like squirrels.

Well, no squirrels there, so let's move on!

G.K., the flowers you are studying now are called scilla.

And since you like flowers so much, you will LOVE the daffodil border! This is just amazing when the daffodils begin to open. You'll see in just a few days!

Hmmm - We seem to have lost Sharkey. I think she got distracted by the donkeys.

  • Good Morning Franny, Sharkey and G.K.

I think spring has finally arrived at the farm, pretty soon there will be flowers blooming all over the place. I'm so happy winter is over it seemed to last forever!

I'm so excited today our pool is being opened. Dad got the water fountain all ready yesterday so you know what that means - lots of birds to chase. They love to come take a bath in the pond and I sneak up on them, still haven't caught one those suckers are fast.

Mom is heading over to Home Depot later today she found some new cushions for the chase lounges from the Martha Stewart line I can't wait to see them. I'll have to try them out and make sure they are comfy. The best news is that she'll be home with us all weekend working in the yard and I even think she is taking off Monday :)

    Well enjoy your weekend everyone!

    Zoe

  • That was very nice to see all those flowers starting to bloom. I guess it is time to dig out my swimming trunks. You enjoy your weekend with your mom Zoe while I will be playing with my friends Harley and Rhyder. Basil, Kirby. Rocky, Dudley, to name a few, and all you other wonderful friends, have a great weekend and get as many treats as you can.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
I guess I should call you "flower children." LOL!!! That is nice that you girls are showing G.K. the springtime ropes, so to speak. We here didn't have the big fun winter you back east did, so Mom is sad about that, but... springtime in the rockies...beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.Have a great spring weekend everyone. Maddox, I really like you being on board. You give us all a certain, regal, fatherly tone. I can tell you are very worldly. Please Rocky, try to get to the computer and let us know how your Mom is doing. You know me Basil, my middle name is worry.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • What a perfect Friday blog. Springtime kicking in (not here in Chicago, it's still in the 40's but somewhere  ) and the three of you hanging out on the farm. What is the saying on the back of your new coats ladies?

I too want to say I'm glad Maddox that you're on board. It's very nice having GK's Pop around and I hope you will regale us with stories from your show days.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Zoe your Mom should be in a great mood since the Phillies spanked the Mets 11 - 0 last night!

  • Ohhhh I'm so jealous! I have ONE cluster of yellow crocus blooming, this out of hundreds I planted...I'm hoping my scilla come out bountiful, so far I don't see them...my Moss Garden seems so empty.
    Hello, Spring where are you????

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., I am so happy to see all three of you together again! You sure did a terrific job of showing all of us how spring has finally sprung there at the farm! Seeing those beautiful crocus blooms is magnificent and I can't wait to see the daffodills, peonys, and the 116,000 flowers beneath the linden trees plus all of the other garden things as spring gets even warmer. You must be having a terrific time while being outside now that the snow is gone. Can't wait for our rain to stop so that our flowers will bloom and my Mom can plant her vegetables this year. Spring can be a fun time especially when it's warmer. Hope everyone has a delightful weekend! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hi sweetie pies,
I bet there is nothing like a brisk walk around the farm to check out the blooms! I wish I could join you and I know I'd have fun stopping off to visit those cute donkeys. The farm is starting to look good and like Dudley Do Right said, I can't wait to see the 116,000 bulbs in bloom! Please let us know when that happens if Martha doesn't blog about it first.

  • You are so lucky that you are getting flowers and other pretty things to look at and sniff! It is still kind of cold here in Milwaukee and while some of the daffodils are starting to peek their leaves up (they don't taste very good, by the way, the green grass along the side of the house is better)we don't have anything that's blooming yet. I still need to wear a sweater when we're outside, but Millie and Demi don't because they have more hair than I do. I bet GK never has to wear sweaters!

  • Nice! Can we come and play? Much harder to find those blooms in Manhattan. Maybe we'll go on a bloom hunt today. xo
