Sharkey Tries to Befriend the Sheep

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

You probably know from reading this blog that the Frenchies, especially Sharkey, like to bark at the donkeys, Clive, Rufus, and Billie.  Where the donkeys just laugh and let the idle threat roll away, other members of the farm menagerie take matters more seriously.  For example, the two Black Welsh Mountain sheep don’t know what to make of Sharkey’s behavior.  I tried to explain things to the sheep, but I don’t think it did much good.

I need to establish a little trust with the two Black Welsh Mountain sheep, so this is my plan - I'm going to stay put right here and remain calm, collected, and quiet.

The sheep will see that I'm no threat and maybe, just maybe, they'll warm up to me.

However, it's getting...harder...for me...to...control...myself - DARN!!!

Baaa!! Baaa!! Oh, hi G.K. Can you please tell us what the deal is with Sharkey?

Instead of being friendly and nice, she just goes crazy and barks at us! It's downright dreadful!

Well, Baa Baa Black Sheep - It's like this. Sharkey wants to be friends, but she has difficulty controlling some...err... instinctual urges.

In fact, I, too, have similar instinctual urges. However, I am disciplined in controlling them. For example, and take no offense, when I look at you, I'm reminded of a juicy, succulent lamb chop, but I certainly don't let that show.

Egads!!! Baaa!! Baaa!! Where do we hide? Let's hope that fence holds!

  • So many animals to chase Sharkey, so little time. What was the over/under on you how long you could resist chasing the sheep? You tried sweetie you tried but you just couldn't help yourself.

GK you sly puppy dog boy, luring the sheep over with your restrained, dignified manner only to spring the news that they would make a juicy meal to you! Was Francesca lurking around the corner waiting to pounce? You three are a triple threat!

  • I have to ask what is it with us small dogs especially Frenchies do we have little dog syndrome? Sharkey is that why you bark at the sheep you want to prove just because you are little you're not afraid of a good rumble?

I started my morning with a time-out even before my breakfast! I decided to get up with the big dogs ( I normally stay in bed until I hear breakfast being served) and I wanted a piece of T-Bone so bad I went crazy barking and growling. Mom snatched me up and in my crate I went.

I'm not afraid of those big dogs and I have to keep reminding them not to mess with me! But why? T-Bone was minding his business waiting to go outside. Precious was jumping up and down like she just got off the short bus and Sophie was howling - it was like a friggen zoo in here this morning. Maybe I'm just excited about the Easter bunny coming :) Or maybe I'm just a spoiled Frenchie with a monster attitude? I better stop there or I'll be getting shipped out to the breeder with a lymes disease diagnosis ;)

I think I better just go hide in the bathroom, maybe take my frustration today out on the toilet paper ;)

  • Oh wow, I thought Sharkey's barking was her mantra! I am seriously remiss...

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I have noticed that all small dogs seem to bark a lot. They are always barking at me when I take my walk every morning. There is one house that has at least seven small dogs. Boy are they noisy. I don’t help matters much. Daddy says that I am passive aggressive. That means that by not paying attention to the barking, it only makes them worse. I know just where they are and what they are doing by using my ears. Chow Chows can move one ear at a time. In that way I don’t have to look at them but I know what is going on. I usually stop and put a “marker” down for them before moving on. Now that really set’s them off; he, he, he.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Oh, what a fun blog post today! I couldn't help but laugh at your comments and photos G.K. and Sharkey!! Where was Francesca? Doesn't she like to tease the sheep, too?! The poor sheep don't want anything to do with any of you, do they?! I guess you will have to be more careful about what you say to them next time you visit them, G.K. Maybe you better have a calming talk with Sharkey before she visits the sheep again. Hopefully the sheep will realize that none of you can get into their pasture and they are safe. The 3 of you are so much fun to see and read about! Hope to see you on Martha's 1000th show today! Have a great day everyone! Thanks Sonya, I am doing better and my Mom takes very good care of me always! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Does Martha make yarn from the sheep's wool? If so a detailed post about the process would be nice.

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
Well, baa, baaa, blacksheep... watch out for Sharkey and G.K. I know this little dog syndrome well. When I am not being sweet Frenchie Basil, I am better know as Guido. I have been known for the evil eye Guido touch. I saw Sharkey on Martha's lap in the 1000th show. We haven't finished watching it, so maybe I will see Franny and G.K. too. Tomorrow is my Doctor's appointment--yuk and double yuk. Maybe they can see why I am not myself yet. I have lost 5 lbs--from 30 to begin with, that is a lot. Have a great day.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • I am also a small dog and love to bark at everything. I wish I could visit Sharkey and together we could make alot of noise barking at the sheep. Yea for barking!

  • Hey G.K. great reporting on the Sheep and Sharkey situation...you know the only reason those sheep approached you, was that you looked like on of them with all that hair *!*

Malcolm that was funny, an ARF!!! ARF!!! ARF!!! Mantra!

  • Well, sheep, I'd be careful if I were you. Remember when the Frenchies visited the turkeys? We all know what happened to them. If GK is thinking lambchops, maybe Martha is too? RUN SHEEP RUN!!!
