Opening Crates in the Head House

Posted by F&S

On yesterday’s blog, we Frenchies, showed you how the chickens at the farm get fed wonderful kitchen scraps from the MSLO test kitchen and the TV kitchen.  Arshad drove them up from the city and helped us get the scraps to the chicken coop.  You may recall that there were several cardboard cartons in the back of the car, as well.  And, if you are curious as to what was in them, you can find out in today’s blog.

Martha is always saying that Holland is famous for their fabulous flowering bulbs! Do you suppose these are special bulbs for the garden? After all, we are in the gardener's head house.

If I close my eyes, I can just imagine them in the garden - so lovely and fragrant!

I love that the flower is pictured on each bag. This one is called Koures and is a rich shade of red.

Franny, we should probably get to work and plant these in the cutting garden. The sooner they're in the ground, the sooner they'll be blooming!

Sharkey, that's all fine and dandy, however, I think we may need some help with this project.

You see, there are five more crates and that's a lot of lilies! I think we'll just let the gardeners handle the planting.

Good idea leaving the bulb planting to the gardeners WOW that is a lot of bulbs. When my mom plants bulbs those pesky squirrels end up having them for a snack.

So my mom really screwed up. She thought she set the DVR to record Martha's Eggcellent Easter and I snuggled in last night ready to watch and it never recorded. I told her to let me set the darn thing but NO she thinks she is the queen of the remote control. So, no Easter show for me :( F & S do you think you could have your mom replay the show before Easter? I want to laugh at the two of you with your silly rabbit ears ;)

Basil I'm glad to hear you are feeling a little better.

  • It seems like a lot of us missed the Easter Special on tv. If our humans would leave us do it, we could have programmed the show. They don't think we are capable but we are. Zoe, you must get up bright and early as you are usually the first one to post a comment. You must be a very busy little girl. I guess Franchesca and Sharkey will be very busy also helping to dig the holes for the flowers that have to be planted. Basil, keep getting better dude. To everyone else, have a nice day.

  • Hello Ladies,
Mom says she ordered some of those beautiful lilies, but I don't think we have more than a few coming. My goodness, 6 crates. You better get a little help planting. More like you better supervise the planting. Zoe, I am glad my Mom wasn't the only one that goofed up on the Easter special. I sent an e-mail to request when it might be on again. I'll let you all know--no answer yet. A little rain last night. So it is a good rest and nap day--not at my best yet.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
You two will be really busy planting all those flowers this year. I always take time to stop and smell the flowers. If I don’t like the smell, I “enhance” them a little. I like the smell much better then. Mommy and Daddy don’t agree with me on that. Daddy is really quick and stops me, but Mommy is a little slower on the leash and I hit a few. Well the summer has arrived here. A bit early if you ask me. It will be near 90 today. I’m hiding out today because I heard talk about a bath. I’ll try to get in a nap early.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi all,
Good to hear from you Basil. It's a stormy day at my house, so I'll be heading back under a bed where it's dark & quieter.
Wow ladies! That's a lot of lilies. Give the gardeners lots of moral support. That's what I do best, lay in the sun & watch Mom dig. I do help keep squirrels & rabbits away.
    Til tomorrow,
    Rebel

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Oh, what a fun blog this was! Thanks for explaining what the Head House is-the gardeners main house! Those lilies Martha got from Holland certainly are beautiful and how lucky you are to have them there at the farm. We don't have any in our garden because my Mom is allergic to them. Sure will be fun to see Shaun and the other gardners plant those beautiful lilies and I'm sure you will do a little helping. Thanks again for sharing your fun activities! Have a great day everyone! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • You two are such great little helper doggies. I do think you should have coaxed GK into helping out. Tell him how you need his help because he's so big and strong. You know, play to his Chow Chow puppy boy ego.

Basil and Dudley Do Right, good to hear that you both are feeling better.

  • Yes Maddox I sympathies with you, I also forgot the Easter Special show, even had the sticky note right on my computer...geepers I hate getting old!

I'm green with envy for all those Lillie's, or Tulips, or any bulb that arrives at MS...I'm envious of any Spring or Spring-like weather...right now we have rain, sleet, snow, wind and cold...not any leaves on trees...Please I want to see a real Spring!

Anyway, seeing you Frnechies enjoying this delivery makes me happy.

  • I want the crates.
