A Springtime Venture Into the Woods

Posted by Francesca

We, Frenchies, decided to wander out into the woods for a little adventure.  There is always so much to see in the spring and we wanted to explore a bit out of our usual bounds.  Just footsteps into the wooded area, there are rushing brooks and all sorts of new vegetation to behold.  And you know that it’s always fun to let your imagination run wild.

Sharkey! On our trek through the woods, we have encountered an obstacle - a shimmering mighty river!!!

The river is flanked on either side by the most brutal and foul-smelling plants!

Sharkey, shall we allow this to impede our journey, or shall we be brave and ford this river?

OMG, Franny! This isn't exactly a mighty river. In fact, it looks pretty narrow to me. And those nefarious plants that you spoke of are just some harmless skunk cabbage!

Well then! Into the treacherous current I venture!

You know, while I'm at it, I think I'll partake in a little refreshment. This water is nice and cold.

In fact, it's too cold for my little paws! They're numb!

Franny, while you retreat, I'll look for another way across this hurdle. Come here! I think we can handle this crossing.

  • Yo F & S Whatz Up (that was my rap good morning greeting - what do you think?)

As you can see I'm in a very good mood this morning, mom is home for 3 days and I plan on spending lots of time with her helping to get ready for Easter.

You girls better be careful around that mighty river that is no place for Frenchies. I bet that water is freezing!! Good thing you are both females or you would experience major shrinkage - loved that Seinfeld episode ;)

I hope the rain holds off for the egg hunt on Sunday. The kids and I look forward to that every year. Sometimes mom hides the eggs so well that a few days after Easter one of us 4 legged kids will come strolling in the house with an egg, happens every year.

Well I hope everyone has a very Happy Easter - be safe.

  • Hi Girls,
Where is that boy of mine? You could have stood on G.K.'s back and he could have carried you to safety across that raging river. I missed the blog on Thursday as it was my birthday and I was celebrating
so I will go back and read it. I turned
four years old and I have a daugther that was born on my birthday also and she turned one yesterday. How kool is that? I need a bath and trim but I got out of it because of the celebration so I think I will lay low today and maybe, just maybe, they will forget about the bath.

  • Hello Ladies,
All I have is flat land, no treacherous rivers. I do have a ditch, but there is a bridge to help cross it.The farm is looking good. Glad to see you are feeling so good Franny to go out on adventures. I am with Maddox--where is the mighty G.K.? And where were you girls and G.K. on Martha's Dog Party show yesterday? That would have been a perfect begging ground for treats, from all those little kids. I hope my tummy will be up to some food on Easter that happens my way. Had another adventure to the doctors yesterday. I didn't even look at Mom the entire way there--but I tried to get on her lap on the way home. Every day is a little better. Can't imagine what your Mom goes through Rocky. Take care all, and have a great Easter and hunt good for those eggs?
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
What an adventure you two had. Too bad that GK wasn’t along with you. If he is like most Chow Chows, he wouldn’t want to get into the water and get his feet wet. At least I don’t want my feet wet; Mommy calls it vanity or something like that. You two had better be careful in the woods alone. There may be critters there that are looking for a good meal. I saw you on the tube yesterday; looked really good Franny. Have a good weekend all. Happy Easter.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • "It's Springtime in Bedford for French Bulldogs..." How nice it must be to live on such a big beautiful farm that you two can roam the uncharted territories of it. I agree with Daddy Maddox, where was the intrepid explorer GK at? After all, he did spend time mapping out parts of the woods this past Winter.

Happy belated Birthday Maddox to you and your little girl. For some reason I thought you were older. Maybe because you're such an experienced (and now retired) show dog. Basil, I hope your Dr.'s appointment went well yesterday. Please get some rest this weekend.

Happy Easter Weekend to all who celebrate. Have a great weekend everyone! Pssst Zoe, Yo, peace out Yo!

  • What a Frenchie Adventure....whew! good thing you made your way over the creek and your way back out...cute!

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., I just had to laugh at you Francesca because sometimes you get a bit exaggerated about things! Sharkey is right-that is kind of a small creek with skung cabbage along it. I see you are still wearing jackets so it must not be real warm out there in the woods. It kind of makes me shiver and I know my narrow feet would get numb in that cold water-burrrr! I would still love to be there and go on a venture with you anytime! Sure was fun to see all three of you on Martha's TV Show yesterday! It was great to see how all of those dogs got along well with you three-fantastic! Happy Birthday Maddox-I's aure you had a great day on Thursday! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and Happy Easter to all! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hi Sweeties,
The two of you are so adventurous and you make me laugh too. I think both of you and G.K. should make some kind of TV special. You are quite the little actresses! Franny, I once had a little girl poodle who wouldn't jump on that rock if you offered her a treat. You are so brave. Have a great Easter weekend and don't eat any chocolate. Martha wouldn't give you that anyway. Hey, maybe you'll see baby Jude this weekend too. Wouldn't that be fun!

  • I love your adventure. I have a question-Are there any farm animals expecting babies this spring?
I would love to see some baby chickens or geese and baby lambs are so sweet.

  • Hello everybody!
F & S, you sure have a great and beautiful place to explore! It's is storming here today, so I'm under Mom's desk here at work. That party yesterday looked like so much fun. I would have come when called, I bet you all would have too.
There'll be an Easter egg hunt at my house Sunday, I'll help the grandchildren find the eggs, hope the rain will be gone!
Blessed Easter to you all, Rebel
