Martha Receives a National Humanitarian Medal!

Posted by F&S

Did you happen to read Martha’s blog on Wednesday, when she reported how she received the National Humanitarian Medal for her advocacy of animal care and protection from the American Humane Association?  Well, we are so proud of her and we feel honored, too!  During her acceptance speech, she gave a slide presentation of her pets and past pets and we wanted to share some of their images with you.

She spoke to the audience all about us, Frenchies and G.K., and she also reminisced about many of her past pets.

  • What a sweet remembrance to many of Martha's past animal companions. I didn't realize that Chow Chows could have so many different looks.

OK break out the party hats it's time for a party and parade. I'm guessing you're making your triumphant return home today Franny so hopefully Monday we will see your grand homecoming. Sharkey and GK you are both in charge of the entertainment and festivities. What a crazy roller coaster week this has been. I hope everyone has a nice safe and relaxing weekend.

  • Good Morning F & S

Franny are you home or is this just a trick?

I think the two of you are the cutest of all Martha's pets. I think I'm the cutest out of all mom's current and prior pets, FRENCHIES RULE :)

75 degrees today I'm very happy :) My cute butt will be catching some rays out on the deck. I heard mom say she was going to try and work half a day so she can play golf. I think she should bag golf and come home with us, she needs to get planting lettuce and spinach - golf can wait. I hope this warm weather is here to stay and that lady Mother Nature doesn't give us any more cold weather.

All my friends at the DW have a great weekend and enjoy this warm weather :)

  • Hello All,
Congrats to Mama Martha on her award. Mom and I did see it in her bllog the other day. Hopefully Uncle Carlos was on his journey to get Francesca while Martha was in Florida. Woke up this morning to a rather wet spring snow. Going to be 70 tomorrow however. Hope everyone had a great St. Pattie's Day. Although I am Franch I do love that Irish Corned Beef. Have a great weekend.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • What a beautiful post this morning. Losing so many of my chows in a fire/explosion two years ago was horrific and I miss them so much. Seeing the pictures on your blog today made me smile and cry at the same time. I am sad that the animals in the pictures are gone, but I smiled because I know that every one of them had a great life with Martha. Good job Franny and Sharkey.

  • Hey, I see today's post is by the two of you again. That must mean that Francesca is back at the farm.
Waa Huu. Awesome pictures today. I never met Paw Paw but my mom said that G.K. looks more and more like him everytime she sees him. I am his dad, what about me? Geez. Well, it is time to go for a walk so I hope all you wonderful furry friends go out and roll in the grass this weekend and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
We all welcome Franny back home. Just wish I could be there for the celebration but I know this will be a family thing. It’s so nice to look back and remember pets of the past. I don’t have any pets to remember, but I’ll bet that Mommy and Daddy can remember having pets. Hay wait a minute. “Pets,” we’re not pets, we’re family. The weekend is almost here; have a great weekend all. Time for my walk and then a nap before The Martha Show.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Congratulations Martha on your National Humanitarian Medal award! <3
I love those darling photos, just wished they had dates or years on them...and I am sooo happy that they had a furever home with MS...how lucky can they have been!
    God Bless you all!

  • How wonderful this slideshow is! I was especially hoping to see the beautiful Teeny and Weeny, and there they are, the precious furballs. I remember them so well from the original Martha Stewart Living show on public TV. They loved to walk on the tabletops. :)

Bless Martha for being such a good friend to animals -- this award is greatly deserved.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., This is one of your best blog posts! As you know, you have the best humanitarian animal lover in the whole world there at your fantastic farm in Bedford and I know you love her as much as she loves you! My Mom and I love Martha and all of you, too! These photos are wonderful and it is so nice to see Martha with her first dog and to see so many of her previous, beautiful animals! My Mom remembers most of Martha's animals and she misses them, also. Now that you are obviously back at the farm, Francesca, you make all of us so happy and we wish for you to be as healthy as you can be and continue having a good life there at the farm! Have a super weekend everyone! Love Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hi sweetie pies,
I bet there are a lot of people that never saw all of Martha's pets over the years and I must admit I didn't know some of them either. I remember a close-up shot of ZuZu on TV and thought she was so pretty. I found out about Martha's real love for animals years ago when I read about Chiggi. She was so sad when Chiggi died and even sadder when someone said, 'it's only a cat!' I guess that person wasn't a real animal lover like your momma Martha is! It made me happy when she got another cat and named it Chiggi also. At least I think that was the same cat you pictured here - I don't have the actual article in front of me at the moment. Anyway, Martha deserved that humanitarian award and I'm glad she received it. Thanks gals and G.K. too.

  • Congratulations Martha! All the animals are gorgeous!

  • You have added so much quality and joy to my life over the years.

Mark Marone is a delight too.

    Never miss your shows

    Thanks!!!!!
