I'll let the photos tell the tale. But as usual we had a great time visiting Martha this week. As always, we snapped lots of behind-the-scenes photos to share with you Daily Waggers!
1 I got some sage advice from an expert before going on the show. Ms. Cherry here shared a few great points about why adoption is so important. (See link to Cherry's adoption info at end of the post.)
2 Ah coffee! Well, actually a soy cappuccino made for me by the wonderful Ms. Allie Wyman, who runs around making sure all goes well for the day's show.
3 In fact, here she is: Show assistant Allie Wyman poses with the painting that Daily Wag reader Delia sent me to give to Martha.
7 Zenith Media's Dara Fishman, here holding Natasha, works hard to put Purina's concern for animal welfare into action. (See link to Natasha's adoption info at end of the post.)
8 Devera Lynn of the North Shore Animal League is always ready and willing to bring dogs to the Martha show in hopes of finding them homes.
10 The truly adorable Ms. Cherry, hoping to secure a forever home. (See link to Cherry's adoption info at end of the post.)
11 Even though there will not be time for all 4 of the dogs waiting backstage to go on the show, Cherry still hopes that all this work lands her the home of her dreams!
12 Eight-week-old hound mix Franky catches a few Z's before his TV premiere. (See link to Franky's adoption info at end of the post.)
13 Fuzzy white Maltese Brandon waits to have his hair done. "Perhaps a beehive 'do will be most fetching and get a potential adopter's attention?"
14 Even though cute blond Natasha will not be on today's show, she still offers her support to brunette Franky and hopes he gets the word out about adoption. (See link to Natasha's adoption info at end of the post.)
17 "This show biz stuff is hard work. But it's worth it if it helps people understand how many of us need forever homes!"
18 "Ummm... yeah...how are we looking on getting me into hair and makeup?" (See link to Brandon's adoption info at end of the post.)
19 A quick run-through before the audience arrives to make sure we have all our ducks...or rather, dogs... in a row.
22 Barb temporarily forgets her producer duties and becomes smitten with adoptable pooch Franky. ("um...Barb....Earth to Barb?...")
24 Hmmm... do you think Martha would mind if I just tried a few of these sweater sets on? Just want to figure out my colors.
25 Oops we missed one kink... let's take care of this as I review the most important points viewers need to consider before adopting.
27 Barb! We are going to need Franky for the segment! Yes he is adorable but you must let go of him so we can have him on the show!
Major thanks to Purina for sponsoring the live segment about the importance of adoption!
Also, be sure to click on the cute pup links below. We had 4 ready-to-adopt dogs back stage and only 2 on the segment so, let's give them all the time in the spotlight they need to get loving homes. You can forward their information (or the information for any of Adopt-a-Pet's 200,000 adoptable animals. Just click on any Adopt-a-Pet.com listings, and use the share tools to post that animal's photo and info on your Facebook page, Twitter feed, or email. These critters need to be seen in order to be saved -- and that part we can all help with!!!
In kinship,
Dr. Pia Salk
Thanks again to Martha, producer Barbara Fight, Purina, Dara Fishman, Kim Littlefield, Jayne Vitale, Posh Pets Rescue, North Shore Animal League, Courtney Chandel, Rachel Tigre, Jennifer Warner and the Neidell crew for supporting adoption and making the show a huge success!

Good Morning Dr. Pia
My mom records the show every day so I was able to watch you with all those cute little dogs waiting for adoption. I must say you looked great and thank you for doing such a great job trying to find everyone a loving home.
I'm so lucky that me and my 3 Lab brother and sisters have a great human mom and dad who love us all very much. Mom even takes care of a few feral cats that decided to adopt her!
I hope all the dogs on your show found good homes.
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!!
Zoe

Hi Dr. Pia, I am G.K.'s dad. It is nice to meet you, so to speak. You did a great job on the show and I second what Zoe said, I hope that all the dogs on the show found good homes. Happy St. Patrick's Day. I am Chinese, but I celebrate all holidays cause that means more treats on those days.

Hello ladies, Kirby here.
And hello to you too Dr. Pia. I too caught the show and saw those dogs on it. It’s so sad that people cannot keep their dogs and have to give them up for adoption. My Mommy and Daddy say that they are too old to get another dog and I will most likely be their last one. I’ll bet that they are wrong about that and will get another dog. It’s sad to say, but they will outlive me. It’s also great that they can adopt another dog. Let’ change the subject: what does a “red” Chow Chow wear that’s green? I know. I’ll put on my green “homeland security” bandana. Now where did I put that?
Catch you later, Kirby.

Hello Dr. Pia,
You were marvelous on the Martha Stewart Show. I just hope many pooches and kitties got forever homes as a result of your appearance. I could tell everyone put on their best face. Keep us posted on their adoptions. Happy St. Pattie's Day to all. I better get going and help get that Corned Beef and Cabbage cooking.
Love & licks,
Basil
