Are There Vegetables Growing in the Garden?

Posted by Sharkey

The March issue of Martha’s magazine, Living, arrived and I was struck by the beauty of the cover.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s a bountiful harvest of freshly picked vegetables.  I really love the garden and seeing that photo got me really thinking about our amazing vegetable garden here at the farm.

Oh, what a colorful cover of the new March issue of Martha Stewart Living. Does this mean we have vegetables in the garden already?

Oh Sharkey, you're so foolish. Your dreams of vegetables are weeks and weeks away.

That's right, Sharkey. Have you even looked outside recently?

Dude, the ground is still frozen! You better have Uncle Carlos take you to the vegetable isle of the supermarket.

Oh drat - how very distressing. This has been one long winter and fresh produce from Martha's garden is still just a dream.

There must be something that can be done to help speed things along.

Hey, wait! Let me have a look at that magazine cover again.

Just as I thought! It's time to START PLANTING!!!

Yeah - It really is still winter.

Hey, Crow! How much longer until spring?

Caw-caw-caw!!

Well, that wasn't so helpful. I'll just head down to the vegetable garden and greenhouse area.

The vegetable garden is a barren, frozen tundra. Let me pop into the greenhouse and see what's happening in there.

This looks hopeful!

Yes! It looks like someone has been busy planting seeds.

And here's proof! Seed packets and plant markers.

And the package says Martha Stewart! I remember hearing something about a new line of seeds at Home Depot!

Thank you for showing all of this to me, Shaun! I see you've been busy preparing for when this seemingly eternal winter is finally over.

It's comforting to know that you are on top of the situation and that come springtime, the vegetable garden will be in good hands. Thank you, Shaun!!!

  • Day 9 maybe and still no Francesca in sight. Sharkey, can't hide how much you miss romping with Franny especially in photos #9 # 12.

Just not the same without Francesca.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’m not much into veggies; give me a lamb chop any day. I was really disappointed with my Mommy and Daddy when I found out that some of my food has vegetables in it. I began to feel better after they told me that it was for my health. I want to be in tip top shape at all times. Speaking of health, I have to visit my Dr. in a few days. Mommy likes to wait until the last day and then spring my visit on me. Daddy, on the other hand, has been asking me if I want to visit the Dr. I think he wants me to be ready for the visit; I’m not and most likely will never be ready. Until then, I’ll just take another nap. Spring is coming; I saw the “ice cream truck” yesterday.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Sharkey you sure do look lonely. Would you like to come down to my house and hang out until Franny returns - IF that ever happens.

  • Spring time is nice cause all the flowers bloom and everything looks fresh. But, I really love the winter weather cause I have this big double coated fur that I wear and it keeps me quite warm. Just remember Kirby, that the vet is there to help you. Whenever I go to the vet, and I see a dog that is shaking cause it is scared, I tell the dog to relax cause when their owner gets the vet bill, the owner will be the one shaking. HAHA Good one Maddox if I do say so myself....

  • Yes a lovely colorful cover of Living...it looks inviting. You guys are well on your way with the veggie growing...I have been buying lots of cauliflower and zucchinis, as I am craving veggies, not as tasty as home grown fresh.

I like the MS felines, just putzing around and waiting for spring...that's what Kitty is doing, she goes in and out, in and out, too cold to stay out and do any hunting, but that door is revolving...it's kind of funny.

Hey how about some new photos of Franny at her other visiting place, let's see how she is doing...sure miss that French schnitzel.

  • Hello Ladies,
Sharkey you look mighty lonely without our Francesca girl. You still are trying your best to keep things under control. Photo #5 says it all. So sad without Franny. Feel better and come home soon Franny.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Girl Friends & G.K., Sharkey, you did a terrific job on this great blog post today! I love all of your photos, especially the last two with terrific Shaun at the greenhouse! I'm glad that you didn't let the cats discourage you too much about the vegetable gardens. Being the helpers that you are, I'm sure that you, Franny and G.K. will be out there helping Shaun as soon as spring arrives and the planting can begin outside! Who ever has Franny, please give her a hug for me! Thanks! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hope Francesca will be back soon and she is OK !!!!!

Please give us some fresh news !
