A Delivery for Maine

Posted by Sharkey

Martha asked Carlos to take a load of stuff up to Skylands, our home in Maine.  Being excellent travelling companions, he, of course, took us along for the ride.  G.K., our wonder dog, actually thought that he was going to do the driving!  Silly, G.K.

Here it is - the trailer that's going up to Maine - Let's have a look inside and make sure everything is packed securely for Carlos.

Carlos, what is that giant object that's secured so well?

I remember this! It's a beautiful giant copper pot that Martha got from Barbara Israel Garden Antiques. http://www.bi-gardenantiques.com/

I need to do a careful inspection.

Sharkey, what do you think? Won't this make a wonderful planter at Skylands?

Yes, G.K. The size of this thing really fits in with the grand scale of Skylands. I can't wait to see it planted.

OK, Carlos - all seems in order, so let's hit the road!

G.K, I've never hauled a trailer before. I'm sure there's some skill involved.

Not to worry, Sharkey! I've got this covered! On the road again!

  • So is this a trip for this weekend? Because you know, the last time Uncle Carlos took a trip with one of you all he came back alone. "Hey kids, want to go for a ride?" has taken on a completely new meaning.

This trip has a very 'Hansel & Gretal' feel to it. Did you leave bread crumbs along the road to find your way back home just in case?

How is Francesca? Is she coming home anytime soon? You remember Francesca don't you - that cute little Brindle Frenchie about yay big.

  • Carlos,

Is a darling to you dogs, and GK haven't you put on some size, looking good, and great photos.

  • So another road trip with Uncle Carlos. Be careful my friends your sister never made it back from the last one.

Uncle Carlos I have an idea get in your car and bring Franny home!!! That would be a wonderful road trip for you to take :)

My mom believes in time-outs not road trips. In fact in the past 3 days I've had 2 - long ones.
T-Bone got in my face while I was sitting next to the dishwasher, I love to lick the dishes and he just got to close so I turned into Monster Zoe then last night Sophie looked at me wrong so I decided to jump on her head. Mom was not a happy camper so I had to spend some time in my crate. Works every time I behaved the rest of the night - thank God no road trips or "being treated for lymes disease" for me.

I'll be busy tomorrow with mom it's suppose to reach 60 degrees so I'm sure we'll all be out working in the yard. I think I'll just lay on the deck, supervise and catch some rays :)

Well have a nice weekend everyone. Franny we miss you!!

  • Photos 6 and 7 made my mom laugh out loud. She told me that one time she took Ta Tu, a son of Paw Paw, to visit Martha when he was a puppy. Martha got out this huge punch bowl and took pictures of Ta Tu sitting in the bowl. He looked so tiny sitting in that big bowl and now G.K. is doing the same thing, different chow, different bowl but same picture. Have fun working in the yard Zoe and try to avoid the time outs. Come to think of it sometimes having to do a time out is worth it cause the bad thing they think we did was really fun for us, right?

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
Yes, I still include Francesca, right, she is just gone briefly, right???? Franny, send us a photo or let us know how you are doing. Will you ever come home again?? I am glad you two aren't afraid to go on an outing with Uncle Carlos. Franny's trip was like Hansel and Gretel Sonya. We all are trying to keep our chins up, but without our Franny, it is a difficult task. Someone let us know how she is feeling and when and/or if she will be home soon.
    Have a good weekend.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Oh good, a road trip. I love road trips and one of these days Daddy will let me drive his truck. I almost did drive it one day but forgot to take the keys. He now keeps them way up high so I can’t reach them. Because Chow Chows don’t jump very well, I can’t even jump up and reach them. One of these days he will forget and leave them where I can reach them; what fun I will have then. The weekend is almost here and it’s beginning to rain a little. Drat, no walk this morning. Have a good weekend all.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Sharkey and GK: GK-How does it feel to be able to drive? If I could drive, I would drive all the way to PetSmart and ....well, I don't have money of my own. Oh Hmmmph! That lovely big planting pot will look so pretty with flowers in it. What is your momma going to plant in there???

When is Francesca coming home anyway? I miss her very much. Please bring her home very soon - like now!

The sun is shining but it is cold and windy here. Not much going on except Uncle George is giving our yard its first mow of the year. That noisy monster machine is so aggravating, I just bark and bark and bark to let him know that he should put a muffler on it, but he doesn't hear me cause of the noise. What is a pup to do????

Everyone have a great weekend and Franny---we all love you and want you home very soon. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • LOVE the photo of G.K. and Sharkey in the back of the pickup...glad it's only on the grounds, dangerous out on the road.
What a great tub and glad to see how really big it is with Sharkey in it...what a huge thing...I got a big terracotta planter tub one time from an estate in Calif. that was being torn down, hubby also dug up a hundred year old twisted Wisteria tree that I had transplanted to my yard.
Have a great weekend everyone, and Franny too...miss that Frenchie!

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Sharkey and G.K., you both look so great in these photos and I'll bet that was a great trip to Skylands with Uncle Carlos! Did you drive up there G.K. or did you trade off with Sharkey and Uncle Carlos?! That huge planting pot sure is great and can't wait to see what Martha plants in it. It must be huge for both of you to be in it at the same time. Sure hope Franny is improving and my prayers are still with her. Hope she gets to come back home real soon! Have a great weekend everyone! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Each day when I open the Daily Wag and there's no comments from Francesca... tears appear in my eyes. Hope Ms. Franny will be alright and home soon. Sharkey and GK. Martha's copper pot would make a nice pool for you two. All you would need is some water and bathing suits. Winnie

  • Aw, I live in NH you should have dropped by and we could have had a coffee klatch of sorts!

    gail :)

  • Olla!
It looks like Uncle Carlos is a swell guy. I like taking trips, too. My Mom takes me to work almost everyday.
How is my little brindle bundle? Been missing her. You guys are doing a great job holding down the fort til she comes home again. Hasta manana!
