Planning the Doggie Olympics

Posted by Francesca

Sharkey and I have blogged quite a bit about all the snow that we’ve gotten at the farm.  Snow is really kind of fun, if it doesn’t cascade from a roof on top of you.  While we were scouting around the other day, we came upon some snow saucers and hopped on board.  Have a look at this!  It was a blast!

Sharkey, I've discovered that if you keep your head low, you go faster and have much better balance. Keep your knees slightly bent, too. It makes for a smoother run.

You're right, Franny! This really rocks!

Sharkey, I think if we continue with this sport, we should really outfit ourselves - you know - with goggles and helmets and some sexy body suits. You never know who might be watching.

At this rate, we might even consider organizing a Doggie Olympics.

Sharkey! Now this is a brilliant idea. A new event for our Doggie Olympics will be the two-dog-saucer! How exciting and daring!

Ummm..... Excuse us, Sophie, but we kind of have a dog thing going on here. Dog history is in the making!

  • Please tell me you have video of your saucer riding yes? A Doggie Olympics? Can't wait. I have a new event for you - "The Douge" (get it Doggie + Luge = The Douge!)

You need to get cracking on setting up the courses on the farm, sponsorship, TV coverage, streaming the events online and don't forget merchandising and the opening and closing ceremonies. Since GK is too big for the saucers he could be in Doggie Olympics Chairman. Let's have a 'paw wow' I've got other ideas.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’m really glad that you are enjoying the snow. There’s nothing you can do about it so why not enjoy. What a thrill I had last night. It started snowing and boy was I excited. I went for a walk with my Daddy before going to bed and was that ever fun. He had to brush the snow off of me before Mommy would let us back in the house. It’s still snowing this morning; how much we’ll get isn’t clear as of yet. Daddy says that this is a dangerous snow because it has so much “ice pellets” mixed with the snow. I’m glad we can stay home until it melts. Until then, I’ll enjoy every little snowflake. I think I’ll try a snow board this afternoon.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies,
You girls are quite daring. I can't stand the cold very long, even in my coat like you have on. I like to look at it. It is very pretty, but to snow saucer or snowboard like Kirby Bear wants to do, I am a bit of an "old fart." LOL!!!! Now Mom and Dad for that matter live for the snow. She loves to sit and knit and watch it snow and Dad is an ice fisherman. Mom went once and says Dad is nuts. But he enjoys it. Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow, I have been worried about you along with Zoe. You were such a rock for me last summer when Tasha was sick. I hope you are doing alright and enjoying the snow as Kirby Bear does. I met a Chow at the vet's recently and I had to put on my Guido face as he wasn't as nice as Kirby Bear and Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow. I hope everyone has a nice fire and is cozy warm today.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: What a cool idea. The first ever Doggie Olympics! Those snow saucers look like fun and I wish my parents would get one for me cause....it is snowing alot here on the East Coast of NC today.

Daddy took me out for my morning walk and there is no wind and the snow just covered us. It is falling quite heavy right now. Momma may take me to my back yard sometime today so I can run in the snow and so that she can throw a snowball or two at me. They are softly made so they don't hurt. Take care everyone and enjoy the snow if its snowing where you are.

Well, it is time for a nap. Hey Zoe, where are you? Are you okay???? We miss you here on the blog!

Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Now that looks like a really fun activity that you two girls are involved in and having a Doggie Olympics would be absolutely great! Will you invite other dogs to participate?! I agree with Sonya about the video, etc.! Your blog gets better and better every day! Your photos are beautiful with the snow and sunshine at the ranch and how fun it is to see Sophie! Say Hi to G.K. for me. Have a great day and stay warm! Sure hope Zoe and Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow can return to comment ASAP. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+
