While the recent east coast snow storm derailed my plan to go west for New Year's, it instead led me to explore a super cool dog-friendly town called Hudson, N.Y.!
This is where I stayed- super cute place and they allow animals!
This is Emma, one of the Guest House's resident pooches!
The owner of The Union Street Guest House even put an ADOPT sticker up to promote adoption!
I had to stop and feed the little plush toy critter who resides by the entrance!
Snow was everywhere!
And it gave me the chance to show all of you Daily Waggers that I'm always thinking of you!
Vico Restaurant serves great Italian food, and has done benefits for the local SPCA.
Thankfully, hydrants were everywhere as well.... phew!
And happy little paw prints decorated the streets!
Apparently the town did a whole art project called the Dogs of Hudson a few years back! This is one of the statues from that project.
Even places that did not allow dogs still felt it was important to show the love!
Places like the local coffee joint all had dog art on their walls!
This store, Fred E. Trout antiques had lots of critters mulling about to greet customers!
"How can I provide you with
excellent customer service today?"
This little pooch managed to sell us an old metal bar tray!
It seemed like almost every store had a dog theme going on!
Dog ornaments!
Dog wall art!
Many Hudson locals directed us to visit Animalkind. They are a local cat rescue that helps a great deal with Feral cat issues and TNR (see link to them and to previous blog on this issue)
You can see one of the lucky kitties they've helped in the window. They have a large cageless facility we wanted to see but it was closed :( when we got there.
And it looks like they might have had fun cat stuff to buy to support their work too! I'll have to visit again!
Looks like the locals support AnimalKind's work in various ways- this cool mural was donated!
More happy little feet!
So cute!
Big dog prints too!
This pizza place alone would motivate me drive up to Hudson!
See link in blog.
They had so many compassionate food options! Great vegetarian and vegan choices (they offered gluten free, wheat-free crust too)! We got yummy soup, pizza with soy cheese and even a BBQ sauce pizza!
And everything we had was truly delicious- even got a few pizzas to go!
So the next time any of you find yourselves along the beautiful Hudson river, be sure and check out this groovy little town. There is no shortage of unique doggie souvenirs!
