A Welcome Home Soup for Martha
Posted by F&S
If you’ve been following Martha on Twitter, you know that she has been travelling in Columbia and also in Florida. Finally, she’s coming home and told us that she is craving a homemade vegetable soup. We, Frenchies, thought it would be nice if that soup was ready and waiting for her, so we got busy.
Sharkey, we are headed down to the cold house to pick some veggies for Martha's welcome home vegetable soup.
Francesca - While I appreciate our mission, why, just why, is it that you always get to drive the Kawasaki? Why don't I ever get a turn? Don't you think that you're being just a tad controlling?
Oh, Sharkey - stop your complaining! It's just a short ride to the cold house and look! We're here, already.
It's so nice and warm in here! Hurry and close the door before the tropical plants get chilled.
See how nicely all the vegetables are growing? There is quite a nice variety. Let's see what would be good for the soup.
Franny, this baby spinach is very tender. It can be chiffonaded and added right at the end for a healthy and beautiful green contrast.
And this parsley smells so fragrant. Vegetable soup should always be flavored with aromatic parsley.
I think we should also pick some of this cilantro. It's slightly pungent and is really yummy in soup.
Hey Shaun! Can you show us where the carrots are? Martha specifically asked that carrots be part of the soup.
Oh, I see! The carrots are in this row.
I'll tug a bunch of these Purple Haze carrots out of the ground. Their unusual color should look pretty in the soup.
And now, Shaun - do you suppose you can show me how to pick some baby spinach?
Oh, I see - You just carefully pinch the leaves off from the stems. That's easy!
Thanks for all your help, Shaun! Martha's soup is going to be so delicious and welcoming!
