The Art of Extracting Honey

The Art of Extracting Honey

Posted by Sharkey

Well, we finally got around to extracting the honey from the beehives.  Carlos seemed to bee a bit frazzled, so I offered to be of assistance.  The whole process is rather time consuming.  The honey tastes really, really good – very herbal and light.  Thank you honeybees for providing again.

Too Much Snow For Sharkey!

Too Much Snow For Sharkey!

As Martha wrote about on her blog today, we were hit hard with another snowstorm.  We Frenchies wanted to go outside and explore, so we donned our beautiful new white snow parkas.  Of course, we had no idea how deep the snow was and things got a little dicey.

Double Take

Double Take

Remember those old Doublemint Gum commercials — the ones with twins doing all sorts of activities to a song that went something like…”Double surfing…double singing… double kissing… etc.”? Well just yesterday I did a true double take, and it led to a very interesting connection!
So there I am in the waiting room at my …

Being celebrity dogs, we, of course, have a wonderful and loyal following.  And sometimes, we even get the greatest gifts from our fans.  We receive beautiful paintings, wall clocks, toys, snacks, and most recently, dishes.  But, Sharkey had a little bone to pick with our latest gift.

A few days ago, after our last snowstorm, Martha wanted to drive around the farm and take photos for her blog.  Since we had the power of the Kawasaki and its excellent four-wheel drive, I asked Martha to take me to visit Sasa, the new Friesian on the farm.  He’s a really great guy and …

G.K. and I were outside the other day when it started to snow again!  This has been quite a winter, so far.  I was concerned about the donkeys out there in their paddock so G.K. and I trekked out through the snow to pay them a visit.

As I promised last week, I wanted to share more pictures of our adventures with animal advocate Kelly Backes and her St. Louis Blues hockey star husband David. Just after filming public service announcement in support of animal adoption, one of the Backes’ own rescued dogs got lost and was away for a harrowing …

Looking for Beauty on a Dismal Day

As you may have heard, we’ve had quite a bit of snow here at the farm.  Yesterday, however, was quite a different story because it was raining all day on top of all that snow, making it just pain dismal.  Good thing we Frenchies, don’t need an excuse to curl up and take a nap.  …

The farm crew has been really busy with all of their winter chores and one of them is winter pruning.  As you know, we have several apple trees and it’s really important to cut back last year’s new growth in order to stimulate the fruit-bearing limbs.  Pruning the apple trees means you have lots of …
