Martha Plants a New Garden to Match GK's Tongue!

Posted by Sharkey

You may recall a recent blog where Franny and I found some flower bulbs in the equipment barn and got busy planting a garden.  Well, last week, we discovered an entire film and a camera crew and some Dutch bulb experts working with Martha planting all those bulbs at the allee of lindens.  It was a sight to behold, but nothing like we’ll be seeing come springtime.

What a stunning morning Francesca! There seems to be a big buzz of activity down by the stable. Let's go check it out.

OMG! Now I remember - it's bulb planting day! Remember all the bulbs we found in the equipment barn?

Well it looks like these folks have their work cut out for them.

Sharkey, I'm adding up all the numbers and it seems like there are 116,000 bulbs, minus the the few that we planted.

G.K! Martha is just teasing you. Dogs don't eat bulbs.

Martha, are these flowers all going to be blue in color like G.K's tongue?

Franny, let's ask the Dutch bulb experts.

Yes sir, I see the different varieties, including some of our favorites such as muscari, anemones, and grape hyacinths - and you say that they're all going to be blue? Fantastic!

Gary, do you want me to have a talk with G.K? He hasn't learned all the proper etiquette of production yet.

Will you just look at these thousands upon thousands of bulbs? Since we know how to plant, let's get our paws to work and help. I simply can't wait for Spring!

  • Martha's guest certainly hit the jackpot, not only did they get to help Martha plant those bulbs but even better they got to meet the three of you!

GK's such a ham. He was having a "I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille" moments.

  • Good Morning F & S

I begged mom to let me blog before she left for the airport. WOW - that's a lot of bulbs. Your yard is going to look so pretty this spring. I bet the people who had to plant all of them were not too happy.

Mom is worried about leaving, Sophie is limping a little. She gave Dad strict orders that if it doesn't improve by tomorrow he has to take her to see Dr. Keefe. That Sophie is always jumping up on the high beds I'm hoping she just twisted something. Mom has steps for me she better order some for Sophie.

Well have a great week everyone!!

  • Hello Ladies & G.K.,
Good to see you G.K. getting in on the action. The girls still have some training to do with you about film production, but you are catching on nicely. You are quite the ham I think. Springtime will certainly be fantastic at your place. I will be awaiting the photos of all of you then.

Zoe, we will miss you while your Mom is on vacation and hope Sophie will be alright. Just as Kirby Bear comes back to the blog, you are gone for awhile. Take care all and have a great Tuesday.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Girls, wow so many bulbs!! I can;t wait to see them in the spring. Zoe I hope sophie feels better.Shes probably just trying to get your mom to stay home. Girls are like that. Ours will pretent to go into labor so mom stays home, weeks in advance! She always does , we know who runs our house!!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Wow 116,000 bulbs to plant. I’ll bet that takes a long time even with all the help. Chow Chows don’t dig much so I’ll bet that GK only planted a few of them. That would leave plenty for you two girls; you’re such a good digging machine. Daddy says I should put a “LOL” in here now so you’ll know I am only kidding you two. Went for my walk this morning; expecting rain this afternoon with some thunder. The rain is all right, but you can keep the thunder. Guess I’ll have to take one of my “don’t give a ****” pills. I’ll grab a nap before the rain starts.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • All I can say is...OH YOU LUCKY DOGS!!!! I mean I'm envious(shame on me)

OK...OK I have a question...the bulbs in image #14 shows the bulbs laying there on top of the soil...so how do you get them under the soil when they are laying randomly close to each other like that???

Sorry for sounding stupid, I only had the privilege of planting as many as 150 bulbs, and they were all eaten by the Squirrels...not one left! :(

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., I just love seeing all three of you and Martha in your delightful blog posts! Your photos are once again very stunning and it's nice to see that you like to help with more projects there at the beautiful farm. I love seeing handsome G.K. checking all things out-he is very curious and learning new things all the time. How nice that you girls are there to help him learn more and more. I can't wait for spring to come to see all of the beautiful blue blossoms that will magically appear. Have another great day everyone! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hi Sweeties,
Mommy Martha sure thinks big doesn't she and I'm glad she does! I don't even have a space in my yard to plant that many bulbs. Well, I think we are all anxious for spring so we can see the sea of blue. Simply amazing!
