Blimp Over Bedford!
Posted by Sharkey
Recently, I was lounging out on the terrace when I looked up in the sky and spotted a blimp! It was the first time I’ve ever seen a blimp so close. I just couldn’t figure out why it was flying around Bedford. So strange!
1 Well, what the heck is that thing up in the sky and floating towards the farm?
2 Is it a bird or a plane? Or perhaps an alien spaceship?
3 Oh, I get it now. It's one of those advertising blimps. Martha tells us how they often fly over stadiums, but why is it flying around here?
4 Well, here's an interesting fact. In 1783, the Montgolfier brothers of Annonay, France, sent the first hot air balloon aloft. Maybe this blimp is celebrating the fact that Franny and I are French!
5 Martha told us that blimps all have four main components - the envelope for helium, the gondola for passengers, the power plant for propellers, and the controls for steering.
6 She also said that blimps can fly up to, and sometimes more then 5,000 feet! What's the deal with this one?
7 This one seems to be landing. I can barely see it anymore.
8 I should have called Francesca as soon as I saw it.
9 Now the blimp is gone and I bet Franny won't believe me when I tell her about it. No doubt, she'll just think I'm full of HOT AIR! Good thing I took photos for the blog!
