Let Them Eat Cake, or Not

Posted by Francesca

One day last week, when Martha was at home, she gathered all of the grounds crew after their lunch to celebrate Fernando’s birthday.  She served them, what looked to be, a really great cake.  Cake seems to be a weakness for Sharkey and she acted very badly.

Uhh - Excuse me, Martha. Martha, do you see me here? Martha, just one teeny weeny piece, please?

Sharkey is so embarrassing! We Frenchies are supposed be be refined and never beg at the table. She is not setting a good example for G.K. When will she ever learn?

  • Hello Ladies,
Franny, don't get your panties in a bundle over Sharkey begging for the cake. I am a Frenchie also, and desserts are something we French have a hard time resisting. I must confess that I also pour on the sweetie looks to get some good dessert treats. It doesn't happen too often, but my birthday is October 3rd and I am putting the word to Mom---Pumpkin Bread please. I understand Sharkey. Franny, just relax and enjoy life. Have a great weekend all.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Who could remain refined with all of those yummy treats sitting around? I can't fault Sharkey and GK on this one Francesca but you are No. 1 Dog. It's up to you to lead the way.

(That means sneaking a few bites when no one's looking!)

Have a wonderful, fun weekend everyone.

  • Oh Francesca lighten up tell me you never begged for something to eat??? Sharkey I would have been right there next to you girlfriend. I sit right between my mom's feet every night while she eats dinner just so she knows I'm there in case she wants to give me a little taste. After dinner I call myself the pre-wash cycle in the dishwasher I LOVE to lick the plates. Mom yells at me the entire time to get away but there is always something yummy left on the dishes. There are times I even climb into the dishwasher that really pisses her off :)

Sharkey you need a T-Bone or Sophie at your house they are the best. They can steal food right off the counter and I'm always there waiting for it to drop. Sophie is so good she can lift the plastic or foil right off the top and never move the dish. Mom is not a happy camper when that happens they always get a time-out.

So T-Bone has to have surgery to remove the cyst off his little pecker. Dr. Keefe said we can't have anything putting pressure on his "Johnson" which made mom laugh. I'm not sure what a Johnson is but I don't think I have one. He assured mom it's not cancer but she is still very nervous about the surgery. His surgery is scheduled for October 5th, mom said we all have to be calm around him for a few days until the drain is removed. Saturday is his 8th birthday I think I'll get him something special. Mom is making an apple cake and we'll all get some of that :)

Have a great weekend everyone :)

  • Just a little note to Zoe--Be sure and wish T-Bone a Happy 8th birthday this weekend. I hope his surgery is a sucess. I know I would be nervous too if I was having surgery on my pecker. Basil

  • What would sugar-loving Frenchies do if their owner said "Let Them Eat Cake" and intended it literally? Would you achieve nirvana? Just wondering...deep Malcolm thoughts on a Friday morning...Bye.

  • Well of course Sharkey can beg, after all it is a nice casual outside BD event(what a nice thing to do for the crew) and the best white plastic silverware is being used just so you doggies can have a bite/lick...right!?

As a Kitty I only like to lick the white frosting, and at this time we have a cake for my daddy Al's BD that I'm able to lick a plate or two...

What a scrumptious looking cake...Yummy...have a great weekend everyone!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I think that begging is a “built in” thing for many dogs, and cats. I try it all the time but it doesn’t work at the dinner table. When daddy is watching the “tube,” I will come up to him and do the begging thing. He usually will share a “cheeseit” with me. Now at 8 PM I just won’t leave mommy alone until I get my spoon full of ice cream. Oh yeah, I saw “Mister Frosty” yesterday. Love that music; get another spoon full of ice cream. What a special man Mister Frosty is. Time for my nap. Have a good weekend everyone.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., Oh Sharkey, you are just like me! Whenever my Mom has anything to eat, I'm right there waiting patiently for her to give me a treat and she does because I never jump up, just lie still and it works! Francesca, that's just the way most of us dogs are and why not join the crowd and possibly get a treat. Glad to see G.K. was being very patient. Hope you all got a little taste of that delicious looking birthday cake for Fernando. Happy birthday, Fernando! Hope everybody has a great weekend! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+ PS to Zoe, Sure hope T-Bone does well with his upcoming surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with you again. Jan&DDR

  • Hey girls Rocky here, begging doesn't work with my mom ,but after dinner every nite we sit good and get treats.Begging works with daddy! Oct. is a big birthday month around here Bo-winkle and me have the same birthday as Basil! We're going to be 9!
