In Search of New Friends

Posted by Ghenghis Khan

I’ve been living at the farm for quite some time now and as nice as Francesca and Sharkey have been to me, I feel that I should really find some more friends to spend time with.  The Kawasaki was available the other day, so I jumped on and took a little ride down to the chicken coop.  Take a look at this!

It's time I made some new friends. Hanging out with the Frenchies is fine and dandy but I feel I need to expand my horizons.

These chickens are interesting to look at and they make really neat sounds.

Ahem! Hear ye, hear ye - chickens of the farm, I am Ghenghis Khan, grandson of the great Paw Paw and I come in peace!

Whats that? You hens don't trust me and you want me to stay on my side of the fence? That's rather unfriendly, don't you think!

I don't understand! They just don't want anything to do with me!

Even the turkeys seem unfriendly. This isn't going very well, at all.

Oh the cacophony!!! Those geese are screaming at me to leave. If not for that fence, I'd be in great danger!

  • So GK, will you now have someone following you around making your formal entrance announcement, "Here ye here ye, presenting Ghenghis Khan, grandson of the great Paw Paw, Earl of Cantitoe Corners"

Can't say I blame the chickens and geese for being wary. If I saw a large Lion-dog albeit one as gorgeous and wonderful as you, come wandering up, I might turn tail and run away too!

BTW, Sharkey, you certainly are the gadabout girl on the party circuit this summer. Just saw that photo of you on MommyMartha's blog. Franny I bet you look equally cute as well.

  • G.K. I'd stick with the donkeys. Those chickens took one look at you and saw a massive hair ball with a black tongue and sharp teeth and thought I don't want to be lunch.

Well last night I started a little trouble then got a time out in my crate. Mom and Dad had guests for dinner and I decided it was time to rumble. T-Bone must have looked at me funny because it pissed me off and I started a fight with all 3 Labs. As you know us Frenchies bring new meaning to the phrase size doesn't matter because I was right at T-Bones neck. When is that boy going to learn not to give me those evil looks! So I scared the crap out of our guests since they always thought I was a cute little lap dog. I showed my true Bulldog colors ;) After my time out I calmed down and we were all friends again and just in time for dessert. I just love to raise hell :)

Had a lovely day on Saturday spent all day with mom in the yard. I helped clean the gas grill which is a very messy job. Mom was using some curse words during that process, dropping the "F" bomb a few times because she was messing up her manicure. Dad disappeared I guess he didn't want any parts of that job. We spent the afternoon floating in the pool with a fancy cocktail listening to music. I even sat on the raft with mom just to get a few sips of that wonderful drink.

Happy Monday - NOT!!! I have a groomer appointment :(

You are a very smart dog, learning to drive that Kawasaki. I am very proud of you. Even though the chickens don't like you, you have many friends on the farm so don't worry about it. Just enjoy yourself and play with all of the others who adore you. By the way, your coat looks absolutely beautiful. Your dad won at the dog shows again this weekend. Maybe one day you can go to a show and watch him.

  • G.K. - You need to learn to speak cocka-doodle-do! I know someone who could give you lessons. Call me, o.k.? Peace, brother!

  • Hi G.K. & Ladies of course,
Looks as though your adventures did not go too well. The girls seem to have better luck with the donkeys. Maybe your next adventure should be to see them. Saw there was a dinner party at Mama Martha's and Sharkey looked quite wonderful being the party animal. I am sure Franny and G.K. you looked great also.

We are supposed to get a few cooler days which I am grateful for today. Mom isn't feeling well. She said she will try and get into the doctor's office immediately this morning. I think she said she thought she had shingles. Aren't those things that go on a roof?

Everyone, have a good Monday and keep cool!!!

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
GK you should just stick with the donkeys on the farm. Chickens and such don’t like dogs your size and color around. You may remind them of a fox. I had a fox think I was another fox one time. He “yapped” at me several times. He was about 60 yards away, but I didn’t answer; you know how Chow’s are. When I go to the park, some of the ducks and geese run away from me. I wouldn’t hurt any one of them; hope they feel the same about me. So sad this morning; it’s raining and I didn’t get my morning walk in. Just have to take a nap instead.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Well, G.K. don't feel bad, most of those feathered friends aren't friendly to dogs, especially one looking like a lion..be happy that you have thick fur coat, those Geese have a mean bit and I bet those Turkeys don't feel that good either...
so does mommie Martha eat these gorgeous feathered friends?
I use to have beautiful ducks in our pond in Missouri, but our neighbors hybrid wolves made a meal out of them. :-(
the enclosure your feathered friends are in, is awesome!
