Welcome to the Tropics!

Posted by F&S

Last week was so hot and humid.  The air was very thick and we Frenchies felt so sluggish.  One afternoon, it started to rain and we thought things would cool down.  However, it seemed to only make it feel more tropical.

Sharkey, because it's so tropical, why don't we go see Martha's tropical plants?

I don't know why Francesca is wasting her time talking to a destructive Japanese beetle. I'll just go and see the rest of the tropical jungle.

I hear they call this a century plant. Does that mean it lives for 100 years?

Sharkey, they don't look ripe yet and you know how much Martha loves her figs. Better leave them alone.

  • Good Morning F & S

It does feel like the tropics this heat is a little too much for me. I spent most of the 4th outside with our guests but mom made sure I kept getting cooled off in the pool. I have to say it really felt good and I've become a very good swimmer. The little kid who loves cheese curls also loves to spray me with the water bottle, her job is to keep me cool.

Well I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July, I'm glad it's over I hate those loud fireworks. T-Bone shakes and pants all night the big sissy. And he is suppose to be the man of the group - ha - nothing scares me I just don't like the noise.

Today it's suppose to be 100 degrees so my butt will be indoors all day. Keep cool everyone and drink lots of water.

  • Hello Ladies,
I must agree on the heat being no fun. I think we Frenchies are cut out for not too hot or not too cold, just perfect weather. The tropical garden looks marvelous, and I guess to get those neat plants you have to have tropical weather. I'm sure inside is air conditioned, so a quick tour was a good idea.

I think between the heat, the fireworks and worrying about Tasha I have gotten myself a bit under the weather. I was up 3 times during the night sick to my stomach. I'll rest today and later Tasha has an appointment to check her layers of stitches. I hope soon she will be able to go up and down stairs at least. I am getting a bit pork chop like having the stairs blocked off. I don't want Tasha to feel left out so I do everything with her. Even if it means staying downstairs. Everyone hope your 4th was a good one. I am just glad the booms are over.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I know how it is when living in the tropics; it’s that way down in the south all summer. It hasn’t been as hot this weekend as it has been. It only got into the 90’s one day. That won’t last long; it’s expected to be over 100 in two days. I like to stay inside and keep cool. My water is under an air-conditioner vent which keeps it cool. Right now there is a big water melon there too. Mommy says it’s being pre cooled. Well I have been working on my “Facebook” page this weekend. Check it out by searching “Kirby Bear” and see my pictures. I’ll be posting more later on.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • we have some heat but bearable, and today it will rain...take care pups not to overdo in the heat...hmmm a Japanese Beetle? not good...as a kid in Germany we use to capture them and put a string around their necks and kept as a short lived pet...stupid huh!

  • Hi Sweeties,
I know what you mean about hot but we finally had rain Monday that cooled it down a degree or two. I think you know it is best to stay inside where it is cool. Thanks for the tour of momma Martha's tropical garden. I have never seen a century plant smooth like hers unless I just can't see the thorns on the edge of their spines. Her Agave plant looks more like a Century plant but actually an Agave Americana is often referred to as a century plant. There are so many variations. I have a cut leaf philodendron like hers too. The more you cut, the bigger they get. Thanks for the tour gals and keep comfy!

  • Okay that first shot could melt the desert. That Frenchie is cute beyond words!

  • Hi Girl Friends &G.K., WOW! You sure do have it hot there, don't you?! I can understand why it feels like the tropics because after 6 months of nothing but cold, wet weather, we are finally having sunshine and temperatures in the 70s, 80s, and possibly the 90s this week! That seems way too hot in our area! Oh well, it is better than in the 50s or 60s and especially nice with out daily rain. My Mom even had to go out and water all of her vegetables today! Of course, I helped her! Well, stay cool and have fun! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Sharkey honey that look on your face says, "I'm meeeeeeelllting!" 'Francesca and the talking Japanese beetle.' Somewhere there's a silly story in there. I bet GK was wisely indoors keeping cool. How many summer haircuts will he need to keep cool outside?

I'm having laptop issues again. Could be something electrical, the memory, or the dreaded hard drive in death spiral mode. My posting for awhile will be a bit late.
