That Crazy Vivaldi!!

Posted by Sharkey

I was out in the garden yesterday when I came across Vivaldi the cat.  He was acting so weird rolling around on an herb called Nepeta, also known as catnip.  He was actually making a big fool of himself. You may recall reading a blog about this same thing last year.   Take a look.

What a nice lazy day. I think I'll just take a little stroll down to the catnip garden.

I just love the euphoria that catnip, or Nepeta, causes.

It smells soooo goood!!!

I think I have a little dry mouth, but who cares? Who could possibly care about anything when one feels so incredibly good!

How long have I been out here? What time is it? What day is it?

Hey Sharkey, want to take a little sniff of my catnip?

Oh right - it doesn't have the same affect on dogs. Oh well, Sharkey's loss.

  • All right that does it. Someone needs to be checked into the Betty Ford Clinic for Cats ASAP! I don't know if a thirty day dry out will be enough though.

Sharkey, I think you, Francesca, and GK need to do an intervention with Vivaldi but I doubt the rest of the cats will help out (little enablers!)

  • Good Morning F & S
Well Vivaldi sure did have a good time rolling in the "Weed" bet he had the munchies really bad when he came back in the house.

I wish that catnip gave me a buzz best I can do is sneak a few licks of mom's wine when she isn't looking, love that Pino Grigio :)

I was looking at Martha's blog this morning and those pictures are really scary. Thank God no one was hurt. I feel bad for Martha I know she just loves all her trees and plants and so many were damaged.

Yesterday I watched a rerun of your moma's show and Joan Rivers was on, funny lady but what's up with the tight face? Anyway she was talking about piddle pads for dogs. I can't believe that people actually use a pad for their dogs to pee on why don't you just go outside? When I was just a pup at 2 1/2 pounds I slept in a baby pack-n-play next to mom's bed. Every time I would move she would shine the flash light on me and out we went to pee. I was too small to sleep in bed she was afraid she'd roll over on me so until I gained a few pounds I slept in there but I never had a piddle pad. Sounds like a diaper you lay on the floor, YUK, must smell nice too.

Well breakfast is waiting - have a nice day.

  • Hmm..I wonder what would happen if I added catnip to my special recipe for pooched eggs and fed them to Vivaldi? Maybe we'd see him again in September?

  • Hello Ladies,
That Vivaldi certainly does have a bit of a problem. I think Sonya is correct in thinking he needs to go to the Betty Ford Clinic ASAP. He is a wild and crazy guy, and I hope he doesn't teach the young ones his bad ways.

I saw the terrible storm damage on your Mama's blog this morning. Those poor trees--but at least no one was hurt. Did everyone stay in the basement during all the loud noises from falling trees and probably lightening? I bet it was really, really scarey.

    Stay safe and cool.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Well Sharkey, it looks as if Vivaldi was having a good day out there. Now I would never do such a thing as that. I must stay in complete control at all times. If I got a “buzz” on, who would watch out for the squirrels in the back yard? Speaking of squirrels, it’s been so hot and I stay inside so much, the squirrels have been having their own “blast” in the bird feeders. My mom said that they need the water in the bird bath, so I should leave them alone. It hasn’t rained for over two weeks; we need it badly. Oh yes, it did rain last night and it almost got the ground wet. LOL Zoe I agree with you on those pads. I was taken outside often when I was little and I don’t do things like that in the house; pad or no pad.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey and of course Vivaldi: I see that Vivaldi is "under the influence" with the help of a little catnip. Don't think that he should have to go to rehab though. Momma told me how Grandpa Littleman and Littleboy cats loved their catnip. It drove them into a frenzy of stupification! I'm not real sure what that means, but momma said that I have enough of that already. I got that very strange feeling that momma was being, oh what does daddy call it? Oh yes, he called it "smart-alecky." Hmmmph!

Oh no - not piddle pads! Momma and daddy did not train me to use piddle pads. I went potty outdoors all the time even when I was a little pup. Momma said no potties in the house for me.

It is hot today, but not as hot as it has been for 2 weeks. It is in the 80's today. Ugh! Too hot for me anyway. I love the coolness of my home.

Well, everyone have a great day. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Jeepers, all Vivaldi needs is a black light, lava lamp and some Jimi Hendrix playing!

    Rock out Vivaldi! :)

  • Hi Girl Friends & GK, Hope everything is going well after that horrific tornado last week there at Martha's farm. That must have been a scarey experience for you and all of your other animal friends. So glad that everyone was safe. Sharkey, you did a great job of showing how Vivaldi reacts to his favorite-catnip. He was soooo cute and I would love to have been able to play with him during his event. My Mom has never given our part-time cat, Bogie, any catnip so I'm not sure how he would react. Love your photos. Stay cool and safe. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Er, Gail I heard Vivaldi prefers Cat Stevens!

  • Oh Vivaldi you are way too funny!!! I'm glad you had a good roll in the weed catnip....so cute! meeuw, mommie delia just gave me some of that dry store bought catnip, can't say I like it as well as the fresh stuff...maybe mommie will plant some for me. I think you are a purrrfect blue eyed Gato!

  • Vivaldi is out of it! Piddle pads too funny. I potty outdoors but Master does leave a newspaper at the back door for me in case he is hung up in traffic so I don't ruin my kidneys. Love everyone and especially Vivaldi, Beaux-Diddley
