Paw Paw Gets Digitized

Posted by Francesca

You know how we, Frenchies, are always looking for things to do around the farm.  The day we visited Maureen, the business manager, at the stable office, we also looked into the room where Martha keeps her enormous collection of photographs.  They are very neatly organized, but Sharkey and I wanted to help her out by scanning them into a digital format for preservation purposes.  It’s kind of fun and easy!

Oh my, Sharkey! Look at all of these archival boxes that must be filled with old photos! Do you see the box at the top?

I think we should work on digitizing these photos. It would be such a surprise for Martha and plus, the photos will be safely backed up.

Unfortunately, this great photo of Paw Paw has been wrinkled. We better save it before it gets worse.

I'll just wait for our Epson 10000XL scanner to warm up.

Paw Paw's photo gets placed face down on the glass.

Sharkey, you click the SCAN option on the computer screen.

Oh, Paw Paw! We miss that handsome chow very, very much.

I hope he's having fun on the Rainbow Bridge and that it's nice there. That's where we're told dogs go.

Now, let's get this hysterical photo out into cyberspace! We'll pull a fast one on Vivaldi. Won't he be embarrassed! Birthday party, my foot!

  • Good Morning Girls it's Friday :)

I don't know why I'm so happy my mom is playing golf all weekend which really pisses me off. I get to see her at 2:00 each day - not enough time home. Where's the rain? I know for sure she'll be home on those days. I haven't had homemade dog treats in weeks - this is getting out of control I need to have a sit down with the parents.

F & S that looks like a pretty cool scanner you have there I think my mom needs one of those.

That Vivaldi doesn't look so sophisticated in that stupid hat. I have to ask why do humans make their animals look like fools??? If my mom tries to pull a stunt like that I swear I'll chew up all the toilet paper for a month.

Basil are you home from the hospital? What's up buddy we haven't heard from you or your moma - we need an update. I'm praying for both of you.

Well have a nice weekend everyone, keep cool.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Making backups of your photos is a good idea. I have been helping daddy make some backups of old photos and found out he has many of other dogs; yep, some Chow Chows too. I found out that I’m not the only one who likes the snow. Wish we had some today, it’s hot. Well the weekend is here. That means that mommy and daddy will be taking a rest. They have been doing some work in the living room and they will be taking two days off. I have been helping too. I’ll post my pictures on Facebook (Kirby Bear) this weekend. Have a good weekend and stay safe.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: What a wonderful picture of the great Paw-Paw! I see that he is missed by all of you and especially his mom Miss Martha. It's good that you two can make the old picture look like new again.

Miss Lynn (Basil's mom) - Please let us know how Basil is doing. Is he home from the hospital yet????? All of us here on the blog are truly worried since we haven't heard from you for a few days.

It is very hot today and it hasn't rained in quite a while either. We really need the rain my momma said.

I have great news though! Momma will be retiring from her job at the end of September and that means she can spend a lot of time with me and daddy and work on her hobbies again. Daddy said momma will have time to cook really great stuff again. I miss her when she goes to work, so when she comes home in the afternoon I run and get one of my toys and then run to her with it. I get all excited and whimper when she comes home. We'll go out to my back yard so I can run, hopefully every day. Soooooo excited I can hardly stand it. Daddy's happy too.

Well, it's time to have a snack and a nap. Have a great weekend everyone. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello all,
I'm back! Yes, the one and only Basil is back. I must say almost back to myself again. The doctors have me on special medication so I don't vomit. Guess what caused it all? The doctors call it a dietary indiscretion. I did no such thing. I know what I eat and don't eat, and I did not eat anything to cause stomach problems. Dad was soaking his grates from smoking trout over the 4th in water. I had a few gulps. Now that isn't bad, right? Kind of like Vitamin water for dogs. Then I ate along with Tasha a few times--her poached chicken and hard boiled eggs. I didn't want her to feel alone at her mealtime. The doctors have said to give her anything her heart desires. I was just trying to make her feel good. Now I can't have anything but yucko stuff. At least I am at home with the family. You are all the bestest friends in the world, thinking of me while I was in the hospital. Tomorrow I should be back to my nursing career with Tasha. She is in no pain, and very happy right now. Thanks again everyone, and hopefully by Monday I will be ready to rock 'n roll.

    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hi Girl Friends, What a fascinating blog! How did you two learn how to digitalize photos?! What a great idea! Now Martha will have her photos forever! I especially love the photo of handsome Paw Paw! I miss him, too. I sure enjoy all of your tweets on twitter. They are my favorite ones! Have a great weekend and say hi to G.K., Vivaldi and dear Martha! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • ahhh, only in Martha-land can one expect such tidiness and perfection...What a grand looking copier/printer...oh how I only wish!I know I have to back up my photos, some are only one of a kind and rare...like my dad and the "Red Baron" sitting in a bi-plane in Germany, I'm sure it's from the turn of the century. Since I have computer CD problems, I can't do it. I know it's important to do, wish I had someone doing it for me like your helpers Francesca and Sharkey...amazing helpers...geesh, Kitty is not that bright when it comes to tech stuff...I'm on my own.

  • Ah, rest in peace Paw Paw, great to digitize his photos and all photos for lifetime memories.
Thanks for sharing the neat techie stuff gals.
    Happy weekend .
    Mrs. Bosley Chow Chow

  • As always ladies, you two are so sweet to surprise Mommy Martha by digitizing these photos for her especially those of the much missed and loved Paw Paw. I hope you both are teaching GK these skills as well. After all, the more paws the merrier!

Is that a Martha Stewart mousepad I spy? I think that's your next venture ladies - merchandising only Daily Wag branded.

I hope everyone has a fun, safe and not-too hot weekend. Basil's Mom Lyn, please let us know how he and Tasha are doing. I hope they're both resting happily this weekend.
