Tree Peonies Galore But Not a Single One to Pick!

Posted by Sharkey

Martha grows many, many peonies at the farm.  There is an enormous garden of herbaceous peonies and a long bed of exotic tree peonies.  The fragrance of these flowers is intoxicating and I wanted to pick a lovely bouquet to enjoy in the house.  Franny became very bossy when I suggested this and we had quite a quarrel.

Sharkey, don't even THINK about picking any!! Martha told us NOT to this year! She needs them for a very important photo shoot.

That's right, Sharkey - just admire them from that spot.

Sharkey, don't mope! I'll ask Martha if we can pick a few when she gets home later.

  • Good Morning F & S

Haha too bad for you I got to cut a beautiful bunch of peonies this weekend. Sharkey why do you listen to Franny is she the boss? I'm sure Martha would not have minded if you only cut 1 or 2. How could she get mad when you show up with a flower in your mouth with that adorable face? Good thing I'm cute it's the only thing that keeps me out of trouble :)

I had a wonderful weekend, mom and dad where both home the entire time. We gardened, baked cookies went swimming. And no I didn't swim I just laid by the pool :)

Today I have to go get my nails cut - I HATE getting my nails trimmed. Why do they insist on putting me thru this torture??

Well I'm going to go hide maybe they won't be able to find me....

  • Hello Ladies,
Your yard and of course the peonies look great. Sharkey, by not picking any peonies you are probably better off. I was out with Mom most of the day yesterday weeding and have been sneezing and itching my ears ever since. They seem to catch lots of good stuff that makes me itch. The lilacs here are ready to bloom. We can't put the hanging baskets out yet Mom says because of hard frost warnings still. They say this is the coldest spring since 1978. Mom says more weeding today. Guess I will need to sunbathe. I think I need my own special baseball cap. Have a great Monday all.
    Love & licks,

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I believe the saying goes something like this; “Stop and smell,” not pick, “The flowers.” Now that’s what I do and mommy is really happy about that. She picks the ones she wants and leaves the others so she can look at them. Now I try to help “water” them at times, but she just yells at me to stop. Just trying to be a help for her. Well the weekend is over and we had only one little storm. Not enough to scare me at all. Expecting more today; hope they are small also. I think I’ll get my naps in before they arrive this afternoon.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • well our yard is not blessed with peonies, they just won't grow...so I get to see through your venture all those beautiful peonies grown at your house, I mean, MS's splace...lucky you!!!!

  • Hey guys Tallulah here I had an absolutely great week-end, celebrated my grandnephew's birthdays, one was one and the other was 3 and guess what? their FRENCHY was also there her name is Gertie and she is 4 yrs old quite cute I must say anyway before the kids came along she was "queen" of the day but now she sorta is next in line and she does not like it one bit! she gets into a bit of "trouble" just to get more attention! We were thinking of taking her home with us for a awhile but I don't know if that's such a good idea what do you guy's think??

  • Hello F&S met one of yours yesterday went to a birthday party for our nephew's. First birthday for one and Third for the other. Well they also have a Frenchy (just like you guys)named Annabelle, now Annabelle was the apple of their mommy & daddy's eyes until of course the one & three yr old came along now poor Annabelle is looking for a new home (acting up a little) think she can come and stay at the farm with you guys?
    Lots of licks Fancy

  • Where was GK to play mediator to the two of you? Your farm empire looks so gorgeous. I think I'd rather be running and playing in the grass than worrying about the pretty purple peonies.

Photo #9 is my favorite. I call it, 'Bullies butting beanies.' Who knew it was alliteration Monday!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: Gosh!! Sharkey, don't make your momma aggravated by picking those beautiful flowers. After they take the pictures maybe she will let you take some. I wish my momma would get back to gardening but she said it was getting too much for her and working at the same time. Oh well, I tried.....but she did pot up her herbs for the season.

I think it is going to rain this evening. Momma has to go to a meeting at work. Daddy said there is going to be big thunder boomers too. I hate those noises. They scare the daylights out of me.

You know, I eat dry food and found that I like to dump my food bowl over all the time. That really frustrates momma and daddy, but I just like to do that. Don't know why.

Well, time for me to go and have a snack. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hi Girl Friends, These photos on your blog today, are absolutely beautiful! Your home there on Martha's farm is absolutely the best and the neatest place I have ever seen! I love it when you go all around different parts of the farm. Those peonies sure are lovely and I can see why Sharkey wanted to pick some. I'm sure Martha will let you cut just a few so as not to disturb the beautiful landscape. Hope you are having a great day. Say Hi to G.K. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Sharkey, you are becoming quite sophisticated! I'm sure the peonies will be ready to pick soon, and worth the wait!
