Sharkey Explores at Dusk

Posted by Sharkey

On a recent afternoon, I found myself alone since Francesca and G.K. were busy having a nap.  I just didn’t feel like joining them, so I went outside and hopped on a Kawasaki for a little spin around the farm.  There are always new and wonderful things to see.

I didn't get far before I saw that the horses were turned out for the evening - I thought I would say hello. They have such grace and stature. I often wonder what it would like to be one of the 'boys.'

I zipped by the pergola, soaking in the beauty of the clematis and other purple delights.

The peonies looked sleepy, yet ready to burst open at sunrise.

Empress Tang sat in solitude - what is she doing? Stalking her next victim, no doubt.

Lupines! As these spires of color swayed in the gentle breeze, I was overcome with immense joy.

As the night settled in, I remembered that there is at least one coyote lurking around at the farm. It was time for me to go back to the safety of the house!

  • Sharkey when I saw the title of your blog today the first thing I thought was what in God's name is she doing out at dusk with a coyote living close by? Are you CRAZY!!! You would make a nice meal for that sucker - PLEASE be careful.

Why do the horses have a coat on? Is it still that cold up at the farm?

It's a rainy day here today, nothing exciting going on in South Jersey. I just have the countdown till mom and dad leave for Italy. Super Nanny was here yesterday getting final instructions. I asked her if she would blog with me in the mornings and she looked at me like I had 2 heads so I guess the answer is no. I'll be around till Friday then no more Zoe for 10 days. Just typing this makes me depressed I think I'll go put my head under the pillow :(

  • Sharke, You are very lucky to have such a beautiful home!!! I love your blogs!!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
That was a nice ride around the farm you took. You saw almost all of the animals thee except the skunk. I guess he doesn’t come out until the sun goes down. I like to explore too; but have to walk everywhere I go. Daddy says that I need the exercise although I’m not too heavy. My Vet says I’m just right, err, weight wise that is. Sunday was bath day for me. I tried to hide, but that was useless to try. Mommy knows all of my hiding places. (mental note: find better hiding place)
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Sharkey I'm convinced you guys live in a Park! you all are so privileged with the beauty that surrounds you...yes, even Empress snooty looks happy.

  • Hello Ladies,
That was a really neat ride around on the Kawasowki Sharkey. Beauty is everywhere at your house. I thought things were just as cold as Colorado where you live, and yet we don't have the things blooming yet as you do. In fact we just had 2 hard frost warnings last week--with snow. Mom is getting dressed now, at 6:45 in the morning to go out and finish her weeding before the rains hit this afternoon. She says we have a weed from hell that is everywhere. I enjoyed sunbathing lots yesterday, but Tasha is already undercover for the thunder and lightening later. Tasha and I don't like thunder storms like you, Kirby. If Mom is here alone and the storm starts, both of us try to get in her lap at once. A Lab and a Frenchie, not much room for Mom then. Mom is on coyote patrol also. She panics early in the morning and late in the day. We have seen him walking down the middle of the street with a little weinie dog in his mouth and many times with cats. I don't want to be his next meal, so I am out and in always. Keep safe everyone.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • This particular adventure Sharkey made me laugh so much. Franny & GK napping, the Boys in their coats roaming the paddock, the donkeys in the stable, Empress Tang busy stalking. It must be a full-time job just keeping an eye out on all of you on your vast, beautiful farm.

PLEASE be careful with that coyote lurking about. Mommy M posted a photo of it slinking around and I worry about your safety.

  • cayote, cayote, did somebody say cayote lurking about, i would not leave my house. From now on you must do your exploring INSIDE, I'm sure the house is just as big as the farm and it will keep you quite busy for awhile. You guys are much bigger than me I would be the apetizer and you guys would be the main meal so be careful!

  • Hi Girl Friends & GK, I just love being able to see what any one of you does during the day. Sharkey, you seem to have more energy lately and it's fun to see you traveling all around the farm. As usual, I love seeing many of your animal friends. These pictures of the horses, donkeys and Empress Tang plus all of the beautiful flowers are superb! Thanks for this lovely tour! Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+
