A Painterly Sky Over Bedford

Posted by Sharkey

Francesca and I were sitting on the front porch the other day when all of a sudden, the sky changed from bright and sunny to dark and ominous.  It was quite an amazing thing to see as the clouds rolled over the farm.  Come and have a look.  It might inspire you to grab some paints and a brush or two.

Wow, Francesca! The sky has changed so suddenly.

It was sunny just a minute ago. Now just look at these dramatic storm clouds! I don't hear any thunder, so that's a good thing.

If you look on the bright side, it actually looks rather stunning, almost like a landscape painting.

I wonder how the founder of French impressionist painting, Claude Monet, would have depicted this scene.

I should think that Monet would do a fine job at painting this one.

What do you suppose is going through the minds of the passengers on that plane? I'm glad I'm not up there.

  • Franny I'm right there with you - rain drops = Zoe indoors. I hate the feeling of rain crashing down on me and especially getting into my eyes - YUK. I bet if it started to thunder Sharkey wouldn't have still been sitting out on the porch. I'm afraid of thunder and run right to mom.

We're suppose to get rain here today so I'll be indoors napping most of the day. Yesterday I worked outside with mom all day, she finished planting all the flowers in the yard. It looks so pretty and all our vegetables are doing great. I got in trouble, I decided to climb the water fountain and do some exploring. I stepped on some of the small flowers she just put in and they had to be replaced. She was not a happy camper :(

Well breakfast is ready have a nice day!

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Ah, the springtime rains are upon you. I don’t like to be out in the rain because of the storms. As you remember, thunder and I just don’t get along. When a storm is approaching, I get mommy and daddy to go into the family room where the TV is located and tune in the Weather Channel. The “alert” sound that they send out when something important is happening scares me, so mommy “mutes” the sound. I have learned to watch the screen and look for the message at the bottom. That scares me as much as the sound. And people don’t think that dogs are smart. You’re talking to one smart “cookie” here. Ops, time for breakfast.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Hello Ladies,
All those photos of the dark clouds certainly would have made great paintings. Looking at the sky from your porch is really neat. Tonight we are supposed to be getting 2 feet of snow in the mountains and possibly a foot here in our area. I am going to enjoy a sun bath this morning as it is supposed to hit at noon. We can't have our veggies (except like radishes) or pretty flowers and planters out yet because of frost danger. Homemade soup tonight as the weather gets colder. Keep warm everyone.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Yes indeed this change in weather is great to paint a painting of! I absolutely love this contrast, even when a Tornado is approaching, there is so much beauty...and appreciate it all. I especially love after a storm the sunlight breaking through the clouds.

Francesca and Sharkey you two sweet pups had front row seats and could run right back in the house...great pictures!

here in Wisconsin it's raining and cold, poor Kitty just came in looking like a drowned rat.

  • Hey guys I love to sit on my front porch and watch the rain i snuggle half way under my blanket cozy and warm and just watch the raindrops fall! while my momma rocks on her rocking chair and crochets, heaven simply heaven. keep warm Tallulah

  • I really like the 2nd photo that Sharkey is displaying. It would be nice if it could be printed, as it would make a lovely picture to hang on my wall.
Do you think that you could arrange that, Sharkey?

  • Hi Girl Friends, Sure missed you yesterday. So glad you came back today. Your weather sure looks like some of what we had a week ago. Love your pictures of how quickly the sky changes. Hope you are having better weather today and the rest of springtime. I'll be so glad when it's summer here and we don't have very much rain. Say Hi to G.K. for me. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Hi everyone: I'm late again! Gosh, momma has got to do something about that. Anyway, it sure looks stormy where you two are. Be careful of lightning. I don't like the thunder at all. I think the pictures are really pretty too.

It is stormy here today, but not too much rain. Daddy took me out for a walk and then I got to play in my fenced-in backyard for a little while. It was okay, but he forgot to bring my paper bags. He said he was not in the paper bag mood today. BLAH!!!

Well, momma wants to start dinner and I can't wait. We are having pork chops, mashed potatoes and some veggies.

I hope everyone has a nice evening. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.
