Helping in the Peony Garden

Posted by F&S

It finally stopped raining and we, Frenchies, went outside to play.  Not too far from the house is where Martha's extraordinary peony garden is located.  If you love peonies, this is the place to be!  Peony flowers are very heavy and they tend to flop over, which is why they need to be supported.  We saw that the crew was busy with this task and we wanted to help.

Francesca - look at all of this twine! The guys must be using it in the peony bed to create the twine supports.

I think we Frenchies should help them with this chore. You know how much we love peonies and we would appreciate them so much more knowing that we had a paw in helping them flourish!

Sharkey, I'll use this mallet to bang in the stakes - you start passing the twine through the eye holes.

Wow! We sure worked fast! We finished this part all by ourselves! Let's help the guys finish the section they're working on.

Francesca, you're not thinking of taking all the credit for this task, are you?

OK - OK - Don't have a snit! I'll give you your due credit, Sharkey. Just imagine how amazing these peonies will all look!

Remember last year? Ahh - I can practically smell their wonderful fragrance.

  • Good Morning F & S

You sure do have lots of Peony plants in your yard. I hope they last until Martha's Peony party. Mom has some around our house and they are just so pretty. We'll have to stake ours up this weekend.

Our vegetable garden is doing great. Last night mom and I went out and picked a few heads of lettuce for dinner and extra for her to take to the girls at work. I have to wait outside the garden because I like to walk on top the plants. For some reason I just won't stay in the isle I like to roll on the lettuce and even chew some as a snack while playing. Does not make the moma happy.

Can't wait to see your PetSmart commercial and I'm really excited to see what kind of products will be in the store. I hope I'm allowed to shop with mom she is very protective of all us dogs and worries we might catch something from another animal. We have a very protective human mother which I guess is a good thing but it does put a damper on my shopping trips. We're allowed to go with her to Jakes Dog House but that is a much smaller store. I'll keep my paws crossed that I get to shop at PetSmart to check out the new MS line.

    Have a nice day :)

  • Girlfriends, that is wonderful project planting Peony flowers...geez you guys are lucky! so do the Gato's walk through there? I want to wander through such beauty myself...Prrrurrr Meeeuw from Kitty, yeah mommie delia is a bit envious as well, she loves those flowers.

  • Hello Ladies,
You are both always so helpful. That is the nature of us Frenchies. Today it is supposed to be 70's to 80's here and then rain/snow tomorrow. I will be doing a lot of sun bathing today. I can just see you both in with those peonies when they are blooming. Here, they don't bloom until around Memorial Day. Do you know when your Petsmart commercial is due out and things will be available at the store? I don't get to go to Petsmart because of all of the germs. The doctor says with my immune disorder it is too dangerous, so I will have to trust Mom to pick me out some extraordinary outfits. Have a great day.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
I’m not too much into flowers other than just looking at and smelling them. My mommy does her thing with flowers; I just watch mostly from the porch. While we were away, a small dog, which was loose, came running up to me one time when I was walking with daddy. Daddy grabbed me and pulled me away. I didn’t know why he did that; I wouldn’t hurt the little thing and I wasn’t afraid. Later, when he was telling mommy about it, I found out that he pulled me away because he didn’t want me to catch anything the dog may have. People who don’t obey the law about leashes often don’t take care of their dog when it is sick. If someone really does love their pet, they see a Vet and keep their pet safe by keeping them close even if it does mean “tying them up” as some people call it. I understand being on a leash is for my safety.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • LOL - LOVE IT!!! I just want to kiss their faces off!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: Those peonies are sure pretty and I bet they smell wonderful too. I can hardly wait to see the new commercial. Momma and daddy will keep an eye out for it. Hope it comes on really soon.

Kirby-My daddy gets me away from strange dogs not on leashes too for the same reason. Also, they might be mean. I weigh about 70 lbs so daddy cannot pick me up, so we just turn and head back to the house. There is a leash law where we live, but some people just don't care about their pets. Those that run loose can easily get run over by a car.

It is very warm and sunny today so I'm going to have my sunbath now. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Girls, great job in the garden! I follow your blog daily. I'm a very handsome poodle with excellent manners!

  • Hi Girl Friends, I just love to see you girls go out and work with the garden crew doing whatever it takes to improve the delightful scenery there at Martha's beautiful farm. You must feel so proud of yourselves for all of the great things that you do. I sure feel proud of you and would love to help in anyway that I could. Where is handsome G.K.? Did you do this while he was at the groomers? I'll bet he would love to help you, too. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • I am from Australia and todays show had peonies on it.
The vase that they were arranged in was covered with green chrysanthumums . I arrived home from work late and didn't see how this was done. Can you please help me!
    Thanks
    Fiona
