Grooming a Horse is a Big Job!

Posted by Sharkey

In my attempt to be ever helpful, I went down to the stables the other day because I heard that it was grooming time for Meindert.  Unlike my little Frenchie body, a horse is quite a large thing to groom and I wanted to help Betsy out.  It took a while, but I got the job done and Meindert seemed very grateful, not to mention, very handsome!

So Meindert, I've come to help Betsy out by grooming your enormous body.

I'll just pick up this curry comb and get to work. Did you know that the curry comb got its name from those who groomed noblemen's horses, such as lords and knights, in an attempt to gain their favor and seek advancement?

Does that feel good? Am I currying favor with you?

Sharkey, when you're done with the curry comb, I'll power up this 1960's-looking Electro-Groom for you!

  • Good Morning F & S

That sure is one big horse. He seems to like getting groomed, Meindert needs to get a life if that is the highlight of his day. Grooming - YUK.

So what did the Easter bunny bring you? I see Martha got a new ipad and a stuffed rabbit? I hope she keeps that out of reach because I know Franny would love to chew that sucker apart, in fact so would I ;)

The Easter bunny brought me healthy treats and a new ball that you stick a treat inside. I really like that especially since the treat was easy to get out. I was busy yesterday chasing all the kids around they were in the pool all day. They wanted me to join them but I'm not much for swimming I'd rather lounge on a chase.

Precious got in trouble yesterday but I know T-Bone or Sophie started it. After dinner mom was cleaning up and left the kitchen for a few minutes and someone grabbed one of the hams off the counter top. I'm not going to say who did it (T-Bone and Sophie) but Precious ended up with it in the family room. Mom freaked and all 3 of them got a time out. That goodness we had 2 other hams for the guests to take home leftovers. I tried to get a taste but had no luck.

Well I'd better go prepare my body for another day in the sun. I have to make sure my water bottle is filled so I can mist myself so I don't get too warm.

    Have a nice day

  • Hello Ladies,
Meindert is sure a big guy. But it looks like the three of you get along well. Just don't get in his way when you are grooming him. He is alot bigger than you. You are both so talented and lucky to have all these adventures at your doorstep. Hope you had a great Easter. As for myself and Tasha we are doing a bit of resting today. All that food and fun wears a guy out. Back to napping. Take care all and have a good Monday.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • oh what a great Frenchie wanting to help groom Meindert! well you found out what a big job that is, right Sharkey??
just a note to my dear Sharkey, don't use a curry on their legs, ok, maybe just on their feathers..it might hurt them if they have a scab on their cannon bone, or something*!*just don't want you to get stomped on.

hello spam filter, pass me in!!!

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey: Hey! Where is GK today? I guess he didn't want to help with grooming the horses. Sounds like Meindert liked his grooming session. You two really know how to make things snap.

I had a wonderful Easter. Momma and daddy were so happy that it wasn't raining or cold. We all went to my back yard and momma teased me with crumpled paper bags and those paper towel rolls (when all the paper towels are gone, of course). I like to run and run and run and then tear them apart. Momma chases me and I just grab all the paper I can and run around the yard. Daddy has to hold all the pieces of paper that mom picks up. It's been a long and cold winter and it sure was nice to be in my yard and play.

Mom and dad and me hope that all of you had a great time this Easter. Time for me to have a nap. I'm still tired from having so much fun with my parents.

Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Meindert is very lucky to have such talented Frenchies like you and Franny to help keep him looking nice. I've seen Mommy Martha and Betsy grooming Rutger after a ride and that was no small order at all!

Did the Easter Bunny bring the two of you and GK iPads as well? Mommy M sure seemed happy to get hers.

Franny, I see that you almost has a ton of fun with that bunny but you were pulled away just in the nick of time.

  • Hi Girl Friends & GK, MS Sharkey, you are so helpful with all you do at the farm. It's easy to see that Meindert was thrilled with what you did for him and I'm sure you will do that again. Sure hope you had a wonderful weekend, with Easter and all. When will you, Franny and GK be on Martha's TV Show again?! I sure look forward to seeing all of you again. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • Awww that is so sweet - what a helpful doggie.

  • Tee hee, it's getting hard to remember that Sharkey and Francesca are, well, dogs, and that their contributions to this blog may not be quite, er, what they seem. Great job, everybody!
