What Happened to Susie?

Posted by Sharkey

Susie, Martha’s executive administrator in Bedford, spends a great deal of time with us, Frenchies.  One day, Susie didn’t come to work.  Then, another day passed and then, another, and we started to worry.  We couldn’t imagine what happened to Susie.  Then, one day, she finally came back to work and we were so happy to see her.  However, things won’t be the same for a while.

Sharkey, did you notice that strange thing on Susie's right leg?

Oh my, Susie - that thing looks like a cast. Did you break your ankle or something?

It is a broken ankle? Does that mean you can't come outside and play with us anymore?

What about those things? Can't you use them to get outside?

You see? Now that wasn't too difficult. The weather is so beautiful and you should really spend some time outdoors.

Too much walking probably isn't good. Let's find you a seat.

Susie, when will you be able to chase us through the paddocks again? I miss our little games.

Sharkey, a broken ankle is a serious issue. Let Susie rest for now. I, on the other hand, will be happy to chase you! Let's go!

  • OUCH - poor Susie. You two better behave so Susie doesn't have to chase you around the property. Make sure you tell G.K. the same thing, she needs to rest that ankle.

We have 2 of those boots in our closet, my mom is always hurting her ankle. She broke it many years ago and didn't do the rehab necessary.(my mom is a hard head) In any case, she has broken it since then and seems to sprain that ankle a lot. Tell Susie to listen to her doctor and do the rehab or she'll end up like my mom with a very weak ankle.

Well girls something tells me Super Nanny is going to be showing up soon. I see luggage coming out of the closet and the travel golf bags. This can only mean one thing mom and dad are going on vacation. Super Nanny moves in when they are gone, she takes excellent care of us but won't tolerate any bad behavior. I get a time out if I chew up the toilet paper :( We are always on our best behavior when she is here. Don't get me wrong we love our Nanny but we're very happy when our mom gets home. I guess it's like when Martha goes away, you get great care but there is nothing like your MOMA :)

Basil did you see the doctor yet?

  • Hi Francesca and Sharkey and Susie: Susie, very sorry to hear about your ankle. You'll have to take it really easy for a while till you heal up and then you can run and run after GK, Francesca and Sharkey. Your ankle must hurt a lot. It will get better though.

Basil - Hope you are feeling better. As promised, my paws are crossed for you. There's nothing like a visit to the doctor.

Well, it is time for my usual early morning nap. No sunshine today, just lots of rain. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • Hello Ladies,
Susie I can feel your pain, what with my leg a hurtin'. I can tell also that you girls are taking excellent care of her. You are so good to make her rest. That little fluff ball, G.K., now that's another thing. You will have to talk to him about taking it easy on Susie. Today I go in to see the doctor about my leg. He is a specialist--orthopedic, I think Mom said. I am very nervous to see him, but I know Mom and Dad are doing it to get me better. I'll let you know tomorrow what he says. Still keep your paws crossed everyone. Have a great Tuesday.
    Love & licks,
    Basil

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
Now don’t be to hard on Susie with her broken ankle. It will take time to heal and then she will be able to play “chase” with you two again. Not a good day, daddy had to have his teeth cleaned this morning so no walk for me as of yet. I guess that I will be able to catch up on my nap times. This time change sure has my body confused; it’s telling me one thing and the clock says another. Oh well, I’ll get used to it and then it’ll change again. Humans never seem to be satisfied with anything. They keep changing their minds; go figure.
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • Isn't it nice to have great friends to play with? I'm sure you and Francesca are both being sweet little girls. I bet just seeing you two and now GK helps make her feel so much better.

Basil, I have my fingers crossed that everything will be A-OK for you.

  • poor Susie! Lucky dogs to have oodles of attention!

  • Hi Girl Friends, This certainly was a compassionate blog and your photos were very heartwarming. It was so nice to see both of you reacting so tenderly to your dear friend, Susie. Sure hope she gets better soon so that the three of you can have fun playing together. Where is your little brother GK? I really miss not seeing him on your blog. Is he going to have his own blog soon? Take care, all of you. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+

  • well I'm glad to be back again! guess there was a spam filter that kept me and some other fans from commenting here...
Susie I feel for you, been there done that, and then 2 years later the right wrist.
So F & S take it easy with her, she needs to elevate the leg...
You girls look like you're having fun in the sun, as Kitty and I did today raking...ahhhh fresh air!
