Polishing Martha's Silver

Posted by F&S

Laura Acuna was really busy the other day, polishing all of Martha’s silver, in preparation for a big dinner party.  Martha has been collecting silver for many years and much of it is quite old and beautiful.  We, Frenchies, thought it would be a good idea to help Laura out.  Of course, our minds started wandering.

Oh goody! Laura is cleaning Martha's silver. I've read that silver has a bad habit of tarnishing when it is exposed to air or water containing ozone or hydrogen sulfide.

Sharkey, grab a rag and let's help her out. I really LOVE shiny silver - I like to look at my reflection in it and admire my adorable face.

Martha only uses Wright's Silver Cream. The history of this stuff is really fascinating - apparently old Mr. Wright got the idea for this product when he found a cow stuck in mud.

He noticed that when he wiped the mud off the silver cow bell, the bell became shiny! That mud contained some really neat minerals that help to polish silver.

Hey Franny! Did you know that silver is going for $19.40 an ounce? We could sure sell this for some serious cash!

I think we should hold onto this silver service bell, however. After we sell the rest of the silver, we'll be so rich that we could hire our very own butler!

But Sharkey, I've got some other ideas for what we can use all this silver for.

I mean, who needs napkin rings when they can be melted down and turned into beautiful new silver collars?

Oh dream on, Franny. You know that Martha would be very unhappy with us. Let's just keep on polishing.

  • Hey Sharkey & Franny,

You gals need to get with it and join a doggie union and make Mama Martha pay you more treats for all the hard work you two do every day, you are much to nice you know that?

Thank you for my birthday wishes I am behind on The Daily Wag blogs, but wanted to thank all my animal companion friends for my birthday wishes last week. Ah, it was so dogone kind of you!

    Happy weekend everyone.

  • Good Morning F & S

Polishing silver looks like lots of work. My mom doesn't have silver because she doesn't have a Laura living with us to keep it nice. Sharkey I agree with you melt it down it sure would buy lots of treats and new outfits :)

Well I was all happy because it's Friday but then I heard mom telling dad I have an 11:30 grooming appointment, that put a damper on my day. I hate getting a bath and especially getting my nails cut. I don't behave very well at the groomer I hate going there almost as much as going to the Doctor. Mom says I smell like a dog so what's wrong with that I am a dog. But no I have to go get special oil treatments for my skin, manicured nails and a goofy scarf around my neck. I'm a dog, I should smell like a dog not like a human. I'd better go warn the Labs because I'm sure they all have appointments to go also. Anyway I'm pissed I have to go there. Maybe I'll just go chew up some toilet paper.

Well girls have a nice weekend and same to the rest of my Daily Wag buddies.

  • Hello ladies, Kirby here.
“Ozone or hydrogen sulfide“? Sounds as if you are some kind of chemists or something. Is that what causes silver to look funny? Mommy polishes the silver but I just watch; too much work for my little paws. You had better not think about melting down Martha’s silver; things like that always gets one into trouble. As for me, I can take a little “bling” or leave it. It’s another Friday and the weekend is coming. Have fun; chase something!
    Catch you later, Kirby.

  • oh what fun!! NOT!!! I don't like cleaning silver...many, many, many years ago I purchased a cloth at a California Fair, you just laid it in a drawer or cabinet and it kept the silver from ever turning, it worked so well...wish I still had it.
ok Sharkey, I don't know if you should have your paw in that cup, well at least not the one I want to use...I know, I know you are just helping out, and that's being a good Frenchie, but....
Here are Best Wishes for the party...oh, I didn't get my invitation!

  • Good morning Francesca and Sharkey: Gosh, that sure looks like very hard work. You two really get things moving in the Martha Stewart Empire. You can actually do so many things without having any thumbs! How do you do that?????

Kirby - I'm glad your daddy had a really good doctor's report.

Basil - I hope you are feeling good today. Maybe you won't have to have any surgery. That would be wonderful and when you get totally well, you can run and dance, and jump like before.

Well, it is very nice today. Had a good refreshing rain that was finished before I had my morning walk with my daddy. So, I think I will go have a nap and a sunbath.

Everybody have a wonderful weekend and Zoe, enjoy your bath. It's wonderful to have people wait on you and pamper you. Take care. See ya later. Love, Gracyn.

  • good Morning Francesca & Sharkey my name is Tallulah and this is my very first time writing i would like to say that i enjoy your blog very much and look forward to the photo's and reading it everyday! well not really i don't read but my mamma does! you two guys are very lucky to be leading such a privileged and posh life i don't have such luck i have a little back yard to run in but i'm really happy. have a good week-end and have fun attending the big dinnerparty and give us all the details! tallulah

  • Chemists and financial wizards. What can't you two do? If you do melt down Mommy Martha's silver for greenbacks, save some for that island you'll need when she finds out what you did.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

  • Did you know that if you use silver every day it keeps the tarnish at bay? But it looks like Martha has too much to get used every single day. I would help if she gave each of you your own service, don't you think? Gravy server for a dog dish, etc.

  • Hi Girl Friends, You girls sure do all kinds of nice, helpful things for Martha and all of her workers there at the farm. It's easy to tell from your photos how much everyone enjoys all of the things that you do for them. Can't wait to see what you are going to do next! Will you be on Martha's show again soon?! I just love to see you there with little brother GK. Have a nice weekend. Love, Dudley Do Right XOXOXO+
